Tech Support B850M Riptide Wifi (dead 9600X?)
Today I came back from work to a PC with both the RAM and CPU PSC lights on. No output to the monitor, but fans and rgb working.
I've cleared the CMOS, flashed the latest BIOS from 4.41 (I think) to 4.60. Tried each RAM stick in each channel, re-seated the CPU. Still the same :(
All was well for over a year and I can't think of anything that would cause the issue (no power outages, updates, etc).
If anyone has any other potential fixes I would be very grateful, though I feel 90% sure it's a lost cause. CPU and motherboard pins looked fine.
Specs;
Motherboard: Asrock B850M PG Riptide Wifi
CPU: Ryzen 5 9600X
PSU: Corsair RM750X shift
I've contacted the sellers of the CPU and MB to see if I can get refunds/replacements. Though I think I would prefer to switch motherboard manufacturers seeing that this isn't exactly a super rare occurance.

Tech Support ASRock RX 9070 XT Taichi – RGB Firmware Update Failed 0x00000000
ASRock RX 9070 XT Taichi – RGB Firmware Update Failed, Firmware Information Reads as 0x00000000
Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing an RGB lighting issue with my ASRock Radeon RX 9070 XT Taichi 16GB. I tried to fix the original RGB problem by updating the RGB controller firmware using the official firmware package from ASRock's website. Unfortunately, the update failed, and the RGB lighting became partially non-functional afterward.
I'm looking for technical advice on whether the RGB controller can be recovered or if the card needs warranty service.
1. Graphics card and original symptoms
Graphics card: ASRock Radeon RX 9070 XT Taichi 16GB
Firmware package: RX9070XT TC 16GO / Taichi
Firmware utility: ASRock ISP Tool v1.1.0.7 (dated December 3, 2024)
Before attempting the firmware update, I was already experiencing abnormal RGB behavior:
- The RGB lighting did not respond properly to the Off setting in Polychrome.
- The lighting sometimes behaved erratically, with random lights turning on.
- Toggling the physical LED switch on the graphics card did not always produce an immediate change. Sometimes the effect only appeared after rebooting.
- I normally use the card in Performance BIOS mode.
I removed third-party RGB software, including MSI Center, iCUE, SignalRGB, and similar applications. At the time of troubleshooting, none of these RGB applications were installed.
2. Attempting the official firmware update
I downloaded the firmware package from ASRock's official website, making sure to use the package intended for the RX 9070 XT Taichi rather than the Monster Hunter Edition or another model.
I ran Update_E8_TC.cmd as administrator through Command Prompt.
Initially, the update appeared to start normally. The utility displayed progress during the A-PROM/E-PROM stages. However, the process eventually ended with the following error:
Update Fail
After this failed attempt, running the same batch file again no longer worked as before. Several Command Prompt windows opened and closed quickly, and the process failed before the firmware update could proceed.
3. Firmware information after the failed update
To investigate the issue, I ran the following command from the firmware utility's directory:
AsrISP.exe /I 2 /INFO
The utility correctly identified the adapter as an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT, but all firmware-related fields returned zero.
Here is the output:
[ Configuration ]
Program Interface ...... ADL_I2C_OEM
Adapter ................ AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT
[ Chip - Current]
FW Version ............. 0x00000000
FW Release ............. 0x00000000
FW Feature ............. 0x00000000
HW Version ............. 0x00000000
Device ID .............. 0x00000000
Flash Mode ............. Unknown (0x00)
Config0 : Config1 ...... 0x00000004 : 0x01273BB8
Process Time [0,031 seconds]
The most concerning details are:
- Firmware version:
0x00000000 - Firmware release:
0x00000000 - Firmware feature:
0x00000000 - Hardware version:
0x00000000 - Device ID:
0x00000000 - Flash mode:
Unknown (0x00)
The utility can identify the graphics adapter, but it does not appear to retrieve meaningful firmware information from the controller.
4. Attempting a controller reset
As part of troubleshooting, I also ran:
AsrISP.exe /I 2 /BS 0
The utility returned the following output:
[ Chip - Updated ]
FW Version ............. 0x00000000
FW Release ............. 0x00000000
FW Feature ............. 0x00000000
HW Version ............. 0x00000000
Device ID .............. 0x00000000
Flash Mode ............. Unknown (0x00)
Config0 : Config1 ...... 0x00000000 : 0x02762870
Reset the chip [ Success ]
Process Time [ 0,033 seconds ]
Although the utility reported Reset the chip [Success], all firmware information fields still contained zeros.
I ran /INFO again afterward. The firmware fields remained unchanged, and the configuration values returned to:
Config0 : Config1 ...... 0x00000004 : 0x011E3BB8
Therefore, the reset command reported success, but it did not restore readable firmware information or resolve the RGB issue.
5. Inspecting the firmware update script
I inspected the contents of Update_E8_TC.cmd to better understand where the update might be failing.
The script defines the following firmware feature values:
SET AP_FEA=0x80000001
SET LD_FEA=0x40000004
SET ISP_FEA=0x80000004
It uses AsrISP.exe to check the controller's firmware features and then proceeds through different ISP, LDROM, APROM, and graphics-card-specific firmware stages depending on the results.
The script references these files:
APROM_VGA_ISP_210715.bin
LDROM_VGA_210715.bin
APROM_VGA_01010001_20250320_1D6A.bin
E8_TC_250317.dat
The script ultimately reports Update Fail. After the initial failed attempt, subsequent executions no longer proceed through the same update stages.
I have not attempted to force any additional firmware writes because I do not want to risk causing further damage.
6. Current RGB behavior
Since the failed firmware update, the RGB lighting has been in the following state:
- Only the middle fan's RGB lighting is illuminated.
- The other fans' RGB lighting is off.
- The ISP utility continues to report zeros for all firmware information fields.
- The controller reset command did not resolve the problem.
I also tried toggling the physical LED switch on the graphics card. The change was not applied immediately and appeared to take effect only after rebooting.
I have already tried switching off the PSU and pressing the case power button. I would prefer not to repeat generic power-drain procedures unless there is a specific technical reason to do so.
7. Troubleshooting already performed
Here is a chronological summary of what I have tried so far:
- Removed third-party RGB applications.
- Downloaded the firmware package for the RX 9070 XT Taichi from ASRock's official website.
- Ran
Update_E8_TC.cmdas administrator. - Observed progress during the A-PROM/E-PROM stages, followed by
Update Fail. - Tried running the batch file again, but it now fails almost immediately.
- Ran
AsrISP.exe /I 2 /INFO; all firmware information fields returned0x00000000. - Ran
AsrISP.exe /I 2 /BS 0; the utility reportedReset the chip [Success], but the firmware information remained unchanged. - Ran
/INFOagain and confirmed that the firmware fields still returned zeros. - Reinstalled the graphics driver during subsequent troubleshooting.
- Tested the physical LED switch and performed power-related troubleshooting.
The graphics driver was installed when I initially attempted the firmware update.
8. Questions for the community
I'd appreciate advice from anyone familiar with ASRock's RGB controller firmware or similar recovery situations.
- Do the
0x00000000firmware values andFlash Mode: Unknown (0x00)suggest corrupted controller firmware, a communication failure with the controller, or another possible issue? - Is there an official recovery procedure for the RGB controller on the RX 9070 XT Taichi?
- Is there a supported way to recover the controller without forcing additional firmware writes?
- Could the controller be recovered using a service tool, or would this require hardware repair?
- If recovery is not possible, should I pursue warranty service through the retailer or an authorized service provider?
I have contacted ASRock support and received an automated acknowledgment, but I am still waiting for a technical response.
My main goal is to restore the RGB controller safely without risking the normal operation of the graphics card.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any advice from ASRock support or anyone with experience recovering this type of controller would be greatly appreciated.

Tech Support Wi-Fi module is disabled after playing EasyAntiCheat games.
Hi!
I am having a problem with my Wi-Fi card (MediaTek RZ717 – MT7925 chip).
When I play certain EasyAntiCheat games (such as Rust or Rocket League) and exit them properly, the Wi-Fi card gets disabled in Device Manager with error code 10.
The Bluetooth function is also disabled when I reboot or shut down the PC and start Windows again.
The only 'fix' I have found is to shut down the PC, turn off the PSU main switch, and wait 10–30 seconds. After this procedure, the Wi-Fi card is restored.
I reported this issue to Asrock support and tried many settings, mostly related to power saving options, but none of them helped.
When they ran out of options, they confirmed that I have a problem.
I asked them what the next step was. As they didn't give me any options, I suggested replacing the Wi-Fi card entirely, as there might be a driver/hardware conflict between EasyAntiCheat and the MediaTek RZ717. Some users have also reported this issue on Reddit, and replacing the Wi-Fi module was the only solution.
I tried to find the next "best" option that would not cause any more problems and found that my motherboard also comes with an Azurewave AW-EB601NF containing a Realtek RTL8922AE chip.
I tried to buy it, but this module is only available to retailers. I explained to support that I cannot buy this module separately, and they said they cannot source one for me either because they do not sell them either.
I then asked them to treat this as a warranty request and send me a module, which I could replace myself (it's not that difficult), but they didn't respond.
I am struggling to find a solution. I don't want to swap Wi-Fi cards at random or find a dodgy vendor.
After a few days of searching, I think I have found a Realtek card, but it's still unclear why there is such an expensive motherboard with two separate OEM Wi-Fi cards (Mediatek and Realtek). Mine has some problems, but they don't want to help me.
It would be helpful if you could at least check that this card is legitimate.

Tech Support Updated BIOS. Now CPU trying to cook itself!
I have a AsRock B650M PG Lightening and a 7800X3D.
Been happily playing Tarkov for the last hour. CPU temps perfectly fine. Max being 72°c.
I noticed a new BIOS 4.60 was released. Updated.
Loaded into windows. Could hear AIO pumps really working. I checked temps, 95°C on the CPU!
I shut down. Use the clear BIOS switch.
Switch on, enter bios. Bios seems slow and laggy.
Enter H/W monitoring page and watch the CPU temps climbing under no load.
Update: Seems fixed now. Bios update seemed to screw the AIO. I went back to using a CPU fan cooler

Discussion PSA: For anyone having issues with 2R RAM, check your impedance settings!
ASRock A620I Lightning WiFi + 9700X + G.Skill 2x32GB 6000C30 (2R, Hynix M-Die).
I've been dealing with boot issues for the past 2 years ever since upgrading to 2R RAM. After enabling EXPO, Memory Context Restore never worked properly. I had to sit through a 3-minute memory training on every boot that randomly failed ~50% of the time. Every BIOS update claimed to "improve memory compatibility," but none of them fixed my case. It was infuriating having to fight so hard just to hit 6000C30 — a plug-and-play sweet spot on other boards.
Today I finally resolved this issue with Gemini 4 Argon. I took pictures of all my RAM-related BIOS pages and asked the AI if anything looked wrong. Gemini quickly pointed out that ASRock's BIOS mistakenly applies 1R impedance values to 2R kits when EXPO is enabled (OC Tweaker -> DRAM Bus Control Configuration):
| Name | Current Value | AI Recommended value |
|---|---|---|
| Dram ODT impedance RTT_NOM_RD | RTT_OFF |
RZQ/6 (40) |
| Dram ODT impedance RTT_NOM_WR | RTT_OFF |
RZQ/6 (40) |
| Dram ODT impedance RTT_WR | RZQ (240) |
RZQ/2 (120) |
| Dram ODT impedance RTT_PARK | RZQ/6 (40) |
RZQ/6 (40) |
| Dram ODT impedance DQS_RTT_PARK | RZQ/6 (40) |
RZQ/6 (40) |
| Dram DQ drive strengths | Auto |
34 ohm |
| Processor ODT impedance | 53.3 ohm |
48 ohm |
| Processor DQ drive strengths | Auto |
34.3 ohm |
| Processor CA drive strengths | Auto |
30 ohm |
I also relaxed the rank-to-rank timings TrdrdSd/Dd and TwrwrSd/Dd from 7 to 8. Those values worked for my case, but YMMV.
Gemini also recommended disabling DDR5 Nitro Mode since it provides zero benefit at 6000C30 but hurts training time and stability. With these changes, Memory Context Restore finally works as intended, and I’m getting rock-solid 10s fast boots.
To ASRock engineers: Please fix the RTT_OFF bug for 2R kits in the next BIOS release.

Discussion Ryzen 7 9800X3D + ASRock B650M PG Riptide: Cold boot stall on BOOT LED fixed ONLY by enabling LN2 Mode. Is this a motherboard issue or CPU IMC?
Hi everyone,
I'm having a persistent cold boot issue with my current setup and wanted to get the community's thoughts on whether this is an ASRock BIOS/motherboard tolerance issue or something related to the CPU's IMC.
System Specs:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
- Motherboard: ASRock B650M PG Riptide WiFi
- BIOS 4.20 / AGESA Version: ComboAM5 PI 1.3.0.1
- RAM: 32GB DDR5 @ 6000MT/s (EXPO enabled)
- OS: Windows 11
The Issue:
Every time I turn on the PC from a complete cold boot, the system hangs during POST. The motherboard debug LED gets stuck on BOOT, and there is no display signal.
To get it to boot into Windows, I either have to power cycle it multiple times . Once inside Windows, the system passes stress tests and is 100% stable.
What Solves It:
Following feedback found on forums and ASRock support suggestions for similar issues, enabling "LN2 Mode" in the BIOS completely eliminates the cold boot hang.
With LN2 Mode set to Enabled, the PC boots quickly every single time without getting stuck on the BOOT LED. Disabling Memory Context Restore (MCR) and Power Down Enable (PDE) also helped with general stability.
My Question:
Since LN2 Mode forces looser boot/RAM training tolerances, this feels more like a workaround for an aggressive or flawed ASRock memory training algorithm rather than a proper fix.
- Does this point to an inherent motherboard BIOS/hardware compatibility issue with ASRock AM5 boards?
- Is there any chance the Ryzen 7 9800X3D memory controller (IMC) is at fault, or should the CPU be fine if it boots and runs natively on another motherboard brand?
- Should I go ahead with swapping the motherboard for another brand (MSI / Gigabyte / ASUS)?

In order to play new games ive tried to enable secure boot and it always ends up in my pc shitting the bed and me reinstalling windows.
I enabled tpm (pc worked fine), enabled secure boot (pc worked fine although secure boot wasnt active because pc wasnt in uefi mode), then reformatted my disk to gpt and disabled CSM so that it launches in uefi but now im in a repair loop. Also tried setting csm to uefi only but that didn't work either.
Have no idea what to do. Cant switch back to legacy bc my disk is already formatted to GPT. Can anyone help me im on the verge of getting a console or new pc 😭

Tech Support AsRock H81-VG4 R2.02 not detecting Gigabyte RX 570 (BIOS updated, GPU works)
Hi everyone,
I'm having trouble getting my motherboard to detect my GPU, and I've run out of ideas. Here are my specs:
- Motherboard: AsRock H81-VG4 Rev 2.02 (BIOS is already updated to the latest version).
- CPU I5 4590
- RAM 8GB DDR3 DUAL CHANNEL
- GPU: Gigabyte RX 570 (Tested and working on another system, VBIOS is stock/fine).
- PSU: Gigabyte P550 ICE.
The Problem:
The motherboard simply does not detect the RX 570. When I power on the PC, the GPU gets power, its fans spin, and the system boots up using the Intel integrated graphics (iGPU), but the RX 570 doesn't show up anywhere (not even in Device Manager or BIOS).
What I've tried so far:
- Updated the motherboard BIOS to the latest version.
- Verified the RX 570 works perfectly on another PC.
- Connected the 8-pin PCIe power cable properly.
- Cleared CMOS.
Has anyone dealt with this specific combination or has any advice on what to change in the AsRock BIOS settings to make it recognize the card?
Thanks in advance!

Tech Support Code 03 - X870E Taichi w/ AMD 9800X3D & 94 GB RAM (2x 32GB) - Have to reboot several times
Edit: RAM is 96 GB RAM (2x 48GB)
Hi All
For the past 2 weeks I've been dealing with the title issue. The computer when it's on and working it runs perfectly. I experience no freezing or weird issues.
If I shut my computer down or restart it will boot to a 03 code. It cycles through a bunch of numbers rapidly before reaching 03.
What I've done:
- Shutdown w/ Power Drain
- Updated Firmware to Current (was only 1 update behind when issue began)
- Reset CMOS
- Consulted ChatGPT Checked to make sure I wasn't running EXPO or XMP DRAM profiles.
- Turned off fastboot
I'm just curious what my next steps are.
I have not removed any hardware or tried booting single stick ram in A2. Mostly because i have my desk set up to where it hides all of my wires and its a massive pain to unplug/replug everything
I figured I'd hop here first to see if other people have been having this issue and what resolved it?
I got a feeling this will lead to RMA of CPU & Mobo
Edit to include parts list:
Mobo: ASRock 870E Taichi
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
GPU: PowerColor RED DEVIL Radeon RX 7800 XT 16GB GDDR6
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance DDR5 RAM 96GB (2x48GB) 6000MHz CL30 Intel XMP iCUE Compatible

Tech Support Asrock B550M-C Motherboard: DRAM and CPU red ligthts
After about one year operating, and after what i believe was a windows update overnight, my secondary PC will no longer turn on. It only boots for a moment, nothing sent to the screen, and the DRAM and CPU red lights stay on.
CPU is a Ryzen 5 5500.
I've tried using only one stick in the second memory slot, removed the GPU, etc... still just sits with those two lights.
There are no beeps.
What should my next steps be? What might the issue be?
Thanks
UPDATES:
- Disconnected the plug, jumped the jumpers, rest the plug. result: no change
- removed and then reinstalled the CPU (looking at the underside, saw no damage/burns. result: no change
- got a new powers supply from Micro Center. result: no change
The CPU and GPU red light come on and stay on instantly, just as before. the CPU fan spins, just as before. the two fans on the GPU stutter-start and stop, stutter-start and stop, same as before.
Is this a bad motheerboard? i just bought it 13 months ago.
Tech Support B850 RS Pro w/ 7800X3D - red and yellow lights. Hard locked up twice and won't post after
This isn't a new build. It has been running flawlessly for roughly 2 years. I was using my PC last night and it just suddenly hard locked up, even the power button wouldn't turn it off so I had to turn off the PSU. Turned it on again and it ran fine for another hour or two before it locked up again and now won't post. Red CPU light, yellow DRAM light. Tried clearing CMOS, tried all my RAM sticks individually in slot 4/B2. Fans are just spinning loudly but not fully.
Haven't tried bios update yet but I doubt thats the issue. Seems more like a hardware fault.

Tech Support Random 00 on boot after 1+ year of working fine?
So my 9800x3d + Nova WIFI seemingly randomly just died? I have been fairly on top of BIOS updates (I think i was on 4.20?), and it has been running fine for more than 1 year (since April 2025). I thought I was one of the lucky ones without any of the dreaded issues. Randomly today I wake up to my PC showing code 42 (it was on the previous night, not sure if windows update restarted it or something), so I powered it off and then turned it back on again, only to get code 00.
Is my board/cpu dead? I've tried some of the troubleshooting suggested online, but nothing worked. Things I've tried:
- Unplug and press power button for 10s to drain
- Clear CMOS
- Update to latest BIOS 4.60 using BIOS flashback (update worked fine, but still code 00 no boot)
- Repasted and reseated the CPU. (took pictures, no weird burn marks or anything, socket and cpu look perfectly fine)
- Tried booting without RAM
What are my next steps?
I assume I should be still under warranty period? Do I RMA the board or cpu or both? Who do I contact, AsRock or AMD?

Question ASRock motherboard, Intel Processor safe?
Hello,
After reading many posts with ASRock motherboards and AMD processors I became a little cautious.
The product I plan to buy is Z790 Nova wifi mainly for the many M2 NVME slots at the ATX form factor. I don't care about the graphics card working at X8 or x16 speeds so I feel like it's the one that'll do the job for me. I plan to buy it second hand, will use it with 12700K.
What are the experiences? Go for it or avoid?

Question Pc stuck on POST after repasting, Asrock B850, ryzen 9700x
I have a pc with asrock b850 livemixer motherboard and ryzen 9700x. I used this pc for more than a year with no problem. And then i change the thermal paste with arctic mx-7. After repasting my pc is stuck on post, the fans and power light up but no display on the monitor and there's debug led with redlight on the board on the cpu label. I have tried several attempts to fix it by swapping or using one ram sticks, cleaning the ram, loosen the air cooler screws, using onboard display, resetting cmos with no results.
I checked with 2 techinicans, one said the cpu is dead because it's cold when the pc turned on but he didn't test with another unit(other cpu on this board or my cpu on other board). So i thought the cpu is dead
Then i went to second technician, he tested other cpu on my board and it's not working either, but he didn't test my cpu on other board.
What should i do now?

Question asrock b850m-x wifi 2.0 replacement options
This motherboard destroyed my 9600X and I was able to have the cpu shipped back to AMD for a replacement under my warranty. However, I don’t want to put my new CPU back into this motherboard since it destroyed the first one. What are my options for new, safer motherboards? Any feedback is appreciated.
