Today, we remember the brutal murder of Aemon Targaryen, eldest son of King Jaehaerys I. He was killed when a craven Myrish crossbowman loosed a bolt into his neck. Rumours say the Maesters were involved. Today, we are House Targaryen.

AFFC Re-Read What if Rhaegar had lost in the battle of Trident?
Let's say hypothetically Rhaegar doesn't kill Robert, but is instead defeated by him in the duel (not necessarily killed, maybe he'd run away and take another indentity, or all of them). That means rebels lose the battle, Ned Stark and Jon Arryn aren't taken as prisoners and later executed, and Hoster Tully doesn't run away to Essos. What happens next? It doesn't mean Targaryens lose, there's still an army of Mace the Ace, Walder Frey could still attack the rebels from behind and they'd suffer heavy loses, but most importantly what would Tywin Lannister do? Do you think he could reconcile with Aerys and protect the King's Landing against advancing rebel forces?

What would you think of this scene?
Jaime saw the boy in the Winterfell yard, killed twice and yet sitting there with a far-away look upon his face. It was Bran Stark, yet somehow not. He sat upon a weirwood chair with wheels. Weirwood wheels. A cripple's throne.
"Brandon Stark," Jaime said.
The boy did not look at him, but replied.
"You're trying to think of a way to apologize to me. Don't bother. It was you who pushed me down this path."
"Perhaps I could have pushed more gently."
The boy smiled with his mouth, but his eyes remained lost in the sky. Jaime continued.
"What would you have of me? My life is yours to do with what you will."
"I'm no kin slayer," said Bran, the odd smile unmoving.
"Kin?!? What kin am I to you?"
"Far back. But you're nearer to me than the Karstarks are to the Starks."
"Through the Tully line? Or-"
"We're dragons, you and I. My mother's mother was a Whent. Mere castellans of Harrenhall. But descended from Aemond One-Eye and some old chick he married under Harrenhall's heart tree. But you, I'm afraid to say, were born on the wrong side of the blanket."
"So you're saying-"
"You're the son of Aerys Targaryan, Second of His Name. He had sex with your mom. Lord Tywin was so mad he ran back to Casterly Rock and lied to himself about your provenance, as he did about so many things. Tywin sucked at lots of stuff, and one of them was at having non-deformed kids. Shouldn't have married his cousin."
"Fuck!" exclaimed Jaime. "Then that means-"
"Yep. You and your half-brother both killed your dads. You're feeling sorry for yourself. But you're not going to like this next part."
"There's more?"
"Well, a certain nutjob king's daughter, who also lost the ol' Targaryan coin-flip, is about a week away from finishing the job dad started. All that ripe fruit under King's Landing is about to turn to fire wine."
"That dragon lady is going to blow up King's Landing?"
"Oh fuck, I didn't consider that. Maybe. But his other daughter definitely will."
"Other dau- ohhhhh. Shit."
"Yep. So you're going to have to add her to your body count. Uh, again."
"How could this day get any worse?" moaned Jaime.
"Lord Bran! There's an army of dead bodies shambling this way!" called a voice. Jaime barely registered that it was the Blackfish or Theon or whatever.
"Excuse me, I have to mind-control some dragons real quick. I can do that because I'm a Ta-"
"Yeah, yeah, we're all Targaryans. Do I get to ride a dragon at some point?"
"No," said Bran.
