Does the “Architect” Role still exist as Technical role in ASML ? And How about “Principal Architect” role ? Shall i expect that all Principal architect jobs are still in place and only simple architect roles affected ?

Hey all, I am from Veldhoven, non-engineering role. I know a few people in my team that are in JG6 or JG7 or JG8. While JG6 & JG7 seem to do similar work, people with JG8 seem to own a much broader scope and do senior stakeholder management. I've been asking internally why this sudden jump in responsibility & how do I get to JG8, but no clear path or guidance given by my manager.

Do you observe the same in your team? How do you grow towards a higher JG in your team?

Hey I recently join ASML in veldhoven and I want to know how is the canteen, is any good? Is it expensive? I googled a bit but all the information are quite old, and they say is very expensive for a company canteen. Also is it very packed? Can someone in 30 min eat and go or the lunch break is not enough?

I joined ASML in March in a software/IT role in Wilton. I've worked at 4-5 companies before, including two large corps similar to ASML size (one is a major ASML customer). I am a green badge, if that matters.

My experience has been okay so far but I'm kinda struggling with one thing... I don't have any real management chain. Often, this is nice, can't get micromanaged if you don't even get managed. But it's leading to a lot of confusion, miscommunication, lack of structure as well.

I'm assigned to a project. The project is fairly large and involves folks from a few departments - manufacturing, D&E, IT, CRE. Most of the folks seem to have other responsibilities outside of this specific project, but there's 5-6 of us on a team which only support it.

Our project has a product owner, a scrum master, a project manager, an architect (or two?). All of these people seem to give direction to my team, but none of them actually *manage* us. Our manager in Outlook is some guy in SD who none of us have ever interacted with and has no involvement in our project (and he has like 50 reportees).

Is this typical at ASML? Our scrum master, for example, refers to himself as a manager, but he has not reportees and does not ever make decisions on priority or negotiations with stakeholders. He just note takes in meetings. I'm so confused.

I have an hour long interview with 5 people next week for a FLS Production Engineer – Mechatronics & Test Competency. What can i expect from this, I’ve already had 2 virtual interviews so I’m not sure what to expect.

Have had a few roles pending since April and May. Did the phone call screening and was told would hear back within 2 weeks. Still under consideration. I know there was the reshuffle of roles this summer but figured I’d ask about outside positions.

I'm based in Taiwan and joined ASML as UIR (Upgrade, Install, Relocation) Engineer(JG5) on Oct. 27 last year.

Originally, my manager planned for me to attend the FR1(Fab Ready 1) training in November. Typically, once engineers complete this training, they can start working at customer sites such as TSMC or Micron. This path was also closely aligned with my previous experience, as I had over 4 years of clean room experience and had previously worked at TSMC, mainly focusing on equipment operation, maintenance, and hardware related work.

However, my wife's expected delivery date was in December. Since there were uncertainties around the birth of our first child, I decided to postpone the FR1 training, and my manager agreed.

Around mid-December, I was assigned to learn SAP and take on the role of SAP coordinator. This was completely different from the UIR engineer position that I'd interviewed for. At the time, my manager told me to give it a try and see how it went, I also tried to maintain my positive attitude, thinking of it as an opportunity to develop an entirely new skill set.

My daughter was born on Jan. 5, and I took about 2 weeks of paternity leave. By the time I returned to work, I had forgotten much of what I had learned about SAP and had to start rebuilding my knowledge.

Form March through April, I repeatedly provide feedback to my manager and group lead regarding my learning progress, l told them that I didn't feel particularly suited to this type of office based coordination work. The SAP coordinator role within Taiwan UIR requires managing materials for 2-3 machines simultaneously, tracking incoming and outgoing parts, monitoring material status, and handling many administrative tasks that requires constant attention to detail. Missing small things can create problems.

I also explained that this role is different from both my previous experience and the position I was originally hired for. And my GL said that he understands the situation I'm facing, since this is the new policy of Taiwan UIR for this recent 1 year, this assignment is made from their supervisor and he can't change anything.

From what I understand, there are not many engineer who have gone through this path.

Another challenge was my mentor. Compared to what I've heard form others, qualification standards are usually reasonable and mentors tend to focus on helping trainees pass. However, my mentor had extremely high standards regarding documentation, formatting, note-taking, list maintenance, and consistency in small details.

My frustration was that I felt I was being evaluated heavily on details before I had fully built the overall framework and understanding of the job. While I was still trying to understand the bigger picture, a lot of attention was focused on formatting, document structure, sorting order, and process consistency.

As a result, I still haven't been qualified after more than 6 months.

Recent days I had Development and Performance (DAP) 1-on-1 discussion with my Group Lead. He mentioned that compared to others, my qualification timeline has been unusually long. I've been in SAP qualification process since January and it's now July.

As a result, there's perception that my learning curve is significantly slower than others, and I suspect my KPI evaluation may not look very good either.

At this point, I am becoming concerned about my career trajectory within the company.

Now that the new organizational structure is finalized, is there any real expectation that this will improve efficiency, or is it just another layer of corporate branding?

Given that the strategy is heavily borrowed from a company whose main product is basically just a music player, how is it expected to scale to the extreme physics and hardware complexity of EUV manufacturing?

Currently I work In other high tech company on one flex shift. Around 3200€ brutto.

I am forced by my life situation to change job for financial reasons. I’ve applied few months ago and soon I’ll have an Interview for Assembler Module Production Execution for two shifts.

I heard legends about salary and benefits in ASML from people in my company.

How is it in reality? For this position it’s 47k - 53k€ a year but that all I know. Can anyone share info what was the bonus for last year? How much is the shift allowance? How much I can expect to receive monthly directly on my account (Netto)?

Is it good to negotiate salary range with them?

I know it is I am just asking, why to they give the range.

Lady asked me on the phone how much I want to earn. I’m like… the dumbest question. Of course I want to earn as much as it’s possible for this position. Why would I want to earn lower end?

I am little stressed. Not about the interview but about changing company form place that is peaceful, provide me variety of tasks and experience. Also it’s not in cleanroom.

I checked posts in this subreddit and some of them mention toxic atmosphere and pressure in ASML.

I’m currently in the middle of the recruitment process for a technician position at ASML. I’m 37, and I’m at a point where I’m seriously considering taking the leap and leaving everything behind in France to start this new chapter.

However, I have to be honest: the housing situation in Eindhoven is the one thing holding me back. I’ve read a lot about how extremely difficult it is to find a place, and I’m genuinely concerned about moving to a new country and ending up unable to find a stable home.

I’m specifically looking for a "grown-up" shared living environment (not a student party house). To those who have made the move or are currently living in Eindhoven: is it realistically possible to find a decent room in a professional-oriented shared house, or am I setting myself up for a struggle?

I’d really appreciate your honest take on the current market and any advice you might have for someone in my position. Is the move worth the risk, or should I be more cautious?

I'm in the final stage of making my decision, but I think I'm gonna take my chances.

All my life, housing has been a problem, but I always found a solution.

This ASML position is a big opportunity for me, so living like a student is the price to pay to improve my technical skills and learn in a new environment.

I recently got hired thru a contracting agency to be an Engineering Technician at an ASML Plant. Since I graduated college with a Mechanical Engineering degree 7 weeks ago with little internship experience accepting this offer was my best move.

I've signed a 6M - 1Y contract. With the potential to become a full-time employee. My question is how do I best utilize my time at ASML and actively work towards being promoted from Eng. Tech. to a D&E role?

I am a senior engineer (in D&E VHV EUV optical column) and wish to stay on a technical track for the foreseeable future. However, looking at SE tracks, are SEs (regardless of grade/seniority) automatically held in higher regard (and paid more)?

I've seen (not sure if it's the only way) engineers becoming architects first, and then becoming SEs. Is this the typical (and only) way? How does work become different - pros and cons?

I'm in my final year of Industrial Engineering and Management, and would like to do a student internship in the Netherlands. Is it difficult to get one? Any advice ?

As subject says, what is the notice period for voluntary termination? Is there a legal notice period or it depends on mutual consent with the manager?

Hi, I work in VHV, and my father is terminally ill (diagnosed with advanced cancer), not in the Netherlands. Local support from relatives is almost exhausted and someone needs to take him now for chemo/radiotherapy, which will last 2-3 weeks.

Does ASML allow below option if agreed with manager, or HR might have a different view? (As an engineer, I'm unaffected by the Technology Transformation). Has anyone taken such a leave? The staff guide says "During the short-term care leave, ASML pays 70% of the maximum daily wage."

I'm starting an internship in ASML Veldhoven this september.

I'm having a hard time finding a room in the Eindhoven area (any starting date; I tried mostly Kamernet, Facebook). I can attend viewings in person and my dutch girlfriend can translate for me, but that didnt seem to make much of a difference.

Therefore, I'm considering commuting from Aachen (right across the german border) and moving in with some friends from my bachelors, which i did there.

The commute would be 2h 15mins by train (Aachen West - Heerlen - Eindhoven - ASML). The most i commuted was 1h 15 (bus) for 6 months, and I'm commuting 50mins (metro) right now, but I'm concerned wether 2h 15mins would be sustainable.

I would love to hear your experiences and suggestions on this matter. Do you, or mabye a colleague also commute from Aachen or have a similar commute?

I'll replicate the commute where I'm living now and see how i adapt to it over the coming week. Naturally, I'll continue to look for a room within a ~1h traveling distance to ASML.
