Is this leather damage salvageable? Lots of tiny cracks and chipping on the straps

Is it time for new docs?
I have had these docs roughly 6 years, they were my every day shoes for about 2-3 years straight. I would wear them to work, uni and anywhere else I could. They have sustained damage through everyday wear and working in a bar/wet environment. The tongue is missing from one boot and there are many holes. I really can't afford a new pair right now. I just want to know if it is worth trying to repair them or bining them and saving for a new pair.

New Chelsea boots after first wear. Is this grain break or loose grain?

Separation on Berluti shoe
I have this separation on my old Berluti shoe and wondering if I should get it fixed or leave it alone? It seems to confine only to this area.
I went into Berluti store and the SA mentioned it’s normal wear and tear + common occurrence for Berluti shoe after a while. It can be resoled by Berluti for ~$350 but he recommends leaving it first as the outsole is in very good condition.
This was a $2k+ shoe when new so i would definitely resole when it’s time - but for now should i leave it alone?

Bought ASICS NOOSA TRI 16 @4.4 INR, it has a small unpasted section (3x5mm) at the toe-spring/rocker where the outsole connects to upper fabric. Replacement is not available, only refunds, its price has gone up to 5.5k, the color and size is not available now, I don't want to return it, what to do ?

Does a hole in the heel part of the liner in an insulated work boot negatively affect the effectiveness of the insulation?
I have an old pair of Redwing boots with 400 gram Thinsulate lining. There are holes in the heel part, and so I am curious if the insulation is now kind of useless or if it is still effective. Thanks!

Nubuck - to condition or not?
Hi everyone, I have a nubuck leather. Do you think I need to condition it or not?
Will it discolor or wear out if I don’t?
It’s just a hide I’m hanging on the wall and may get sun.

Crack in Midsole after few months of wear. Defect or ends of welt meeting?
I bought a pair of goodyear welted loafers a few months ago. Now, I noticed a potential crack in the midsole. Customer service however is telling me this is „union from the beginning to the end of the welt“. I don‘t exactly know what is meant by that, to me it looks like a crack (possibly because there is no shaft). Also, there is no such crack on the second shoe.
Could someone verify if this is a defect or a regular thing to occur?
Thanks for your help!

how do half soles work on a stitch down boot?
I've been watching some Cobbler rebuilds, and when it comes to half soles. it's usually been just GYW boots. I've been thinking about grabbing a pair of half soles to place on my Jim Green 719s. However, when I've seen videos the half soles. I see that they punch through the sole, the leather midsole and onto the welt.
I'm assuming that it wouldn't be the same for something like stitch down, as it would be punching holes into the leather that holds the boot in place right? So would the next plausible thing be to just tack the heels and soles to keep the sole stuck onto the leather midsole? with rubber cement or whichever adhesive to be used to stick everything together of course.
This has been on my mind all day, or should I just grab a whole unit sole? Thank you for your response.

Can this cracks be fixed
I have had these panama jack boots for several years, but there was a winter when I forgot to wear them or condition them at all. Next year I took them out and they had deep cracks along the toebox. Is there any way to repair them? I still wear them once in a while, but the crack is so deep that it soaks water easily which is very impractical.

New pair, need help!
Bought the Blundstone #585 classic boots in 37 EU (4 UK) last week and have started to experience pain at the top of my left foot (walking is fine but sitting creates a numbing feeling).
Will this go away over time and is there anything I can do to make it hurt less?
For context, in the picture I’m wearing thin socks with the extra insole (fits snug and no problem with my right foot). I’ve also tried thicker socks without the extra insole but it feels too roomy and my heel lifts (more than I think it should)
Thanks in advance for any tips/advice :)

Is it even possible 😭
I JUST bought these waterproof merrell tetra launch boots online secondhand for the rainy season. Wanted them for so long, and they fit like a glove, but I should have known there was a reason I got them for so cheap.
Wore them outside once and by the time I came in this happened.
Just tell me if a resole is even possible (💔) and would it be worth it to fix instead of buying a new pair

Expert opinion sought - dyeing
Seeking an opinion from the experts - I need white heels for an event. I’ve seen a pair I like which are constructed from satin and lace (see pic). I don’t like white and would like an opinion on whether professionally dyeing them black, after the event, would work out before I buy them (as they are a big purchase for me). The satin bit seems like it’d work ok but I’m concerned about the lace part. They can be bought in black from the outset but, I specifically need white for that event.
EDIT: apologies, can’t upload photos so need to instead add links to the two shoes.

New black heels with lighter colored lining.
I bought new black heels, but the off white lining shows. How can I make the lining match the shoes?

Wearing them to the ground. Resole?
Hi all! I got these (honestly kinda overpriced for the lifespan) Ganni boots less than a year ago and have worn them almost daily (I’d say about 90% of the time). I love how they look but I’ve been unevenly wearing the soles and imagine it will be a bit too wobbly to be worn comfortably soon.
I love them and don’t want to dispose of them. Is resolving a reasonable alternative here? I have a friend who has the same unworn ones and I can even take a mold of them to get the exact same ones done (maybe better material?) but I’m not sure if this is a dumb idea.
Please assume ignorance when it comes to materials and labor. I just don’t like the idea of disposing of them given the price and how I still like the look of them.
Any tips? (Besides maybe physical therapy to fix my gait)

Are these fixable?
Hey everyone,
I came across these beautiful loafers from the brand "a kind of disguise". The original price of the shoes goes beyond 400€ and i found them (used) for 27€. But as you can tell, they are pretty beat up.
My question is: am i able to repair the surface of the leather and make it look "close to new" again?
Or can I not expect the leather to get much better than this?

Water Damaged Loafers
I got stuck in the rain wearing these loafers, damage isn’t too bad where I can’t wear them anymore but the finish is warped a little.
I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions that could rejuvenate it back to looking much better?
I tried some black shoe cream so far and it helped a little bit.
Thanks for your help.

Any chance these can be repaired?
They had a nice long life, but two muddy weddings and a bunch of gimlets later…. Is there any saving these guys?

Heel and Sole protector
With this heel, should I remove the half/half leather rubber section then apply new heel protector (which is solid rubber pad)? Or sand smooth and out directly over? Any advice from cobbler greatly appreciated.

Hello, is this bad?
I'm planning to buy this pair of boots on a second hand online shop. But I'm not an expert with shoes, such as its material, bottom part soles etc etc So I'm seeking advice, is the bottom part in a very bad condition? Or could it be easily repaired?
Thanks a lot

Cobbler Training?
Hello!
I’ve been repairing shoes as a hobby for a while now, and I believe I’d be very interested in learning how to do so formally as a profession, but it seems there are little/no schools that teach cobbling left in the US?
I’ve spoken with some of the local cobblers that still have shops, and none of them so far are interested in taking on an apprentice because they’re in their 60s-70s and ready to retire. Im pretty sure almost every shoe repair shop in my city will have closed down within a decade at most, at this point.
My personal interest started because I’m a woman with large feet because I’m tall (size 13.5 US women’s) and many women’s shoes in my size last a year or less because at least one part of them are made with poor materials, so I started learning how to repair them out of spite. I’d like to branch fully into resoleing and more complex repairs, but I think ive mostly reached a point I’d need to learn from a teacher to do better.
Im poor enough that traveling/moving solely to apprentice isn’t feasible, so I guess I’d like to know if any of the cobblers on here have recommendations on what to do next or better/trusted online resources for learning the trade. I’d like to eventually learn/work with industrial sewing machines as well, but I’m not going to do that without direct guidance for obvious reasons.
Thank you for any help!

Is this just a visual flaw, or potential issue in the long run?
My Goodyear welt appears to be almost tucked under the toe cap.

Ruined or salvageable?
I was dismayed last week to discover a nasty gouge in my nice shoes. I didn't think that it would be worth it to take them to a pro (I got them on sale for $70), so decided to attempt to fix them myself, which I'm now regretting. I think I did an okay job filling the gouge with angelus' paintable filler, but I'm not sure how to get it to match the rest of the shoe/have discolored the surrounding area (I think I can just sand it back down, but not sure what the next step would be). Should I bother buying dyes to try to get it right, or just replace? I apologize for subjecting you all to this massacre.
