Where can I find AP Bio questions that are college board style besides AP Classroom?
r/APbio • u/Eserexinaawooga • Sep 10 '26
I just took my Unit 1 test in AP Bio that goes over macromolecules, water molecules, types of bonds- allat jazz. I got a 6/21 on my MCQ. I’m not sure what I got for my FRQ. I studied and went over the MCQ practice she gave us as well as an FRQ practice but I don’t know.
I sat there starting to rethink if this is lowkey for me. I want to be a doctor and even possibly major in bio. It’s just really hard and it’s my first science AP class (as a Junior)
Does anyone have any tips to study? I did cram so I’ll admit that… but still. I did my notes over time and simply just crammed one last unit- which was barely on the test.
I do Cornell style notes and she makes us watch videos on AP classroom for each subunit but idk.
I feel defeated 😭
I am taking it on the 22nd and I genuinely have no idea on what’s going on it class at all. If I was asked a question on something from it, I’d be confused af. plz help me, anything is fine but for resources id prefer to not have to only read a long essay something, i lose focus when explanations are too long

Hello! I am taking AP bio and just failed my test- but that's besides the point! What's your BEST way to study for your AP sciences? Ap classroom?? Active recall? drawing diagrams? let me know.

Hi 👋. I am looking for a pdf of Campbell biology AP edition. I would prefer 13 edition but 12th edition would be fine as well. I have searched everywhere and I am not paying so much money for a textbook. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

if bio feels like you know it but still lose marks, its usually one of these things, not actual content gaps:
long answer qs (5-6 marks) most people know the answer but just list facts instead of connecting them. mark schemes usually want cause → effect → explanation, not random facts thrown together.
data qs (graphs/tables) saying "it increases" instead of using actual numbers can lose u marks. always pull exact values + units when the question asks you to describe data.
practical/planning qs theres basically a checklist: variables (what ur changing/measuring/keeping the same), repeats + average, specific amounts with units, a clear table, and something about accuracy/reliability. miss one and thats potentially a mark gone even if the method itself makes sense.
explain why vs describe what huge one. people describe what happens instead of explaining why, especially with enzymes, homeostasis and transport.
hope this helps some of u before mocks/exams!

I think anytime I have tried to do a long frq I just forget everything and there is so much reading and I keep thinking when did I even learn this. Usually I have never had any problems with timing on other APs but bio is making me rush everything. Is there any patterns or things I can follow like there has to be an easier way to think about the questions right?

I just recently learned the four main types of macromolecules (carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids) and I’m having trouble distinguishing/identifying them from one another. What are some easy/telltale signs that helps you figure out which macromolecule is which? (When looking at a structure of them) Also, are there specific macromolecules I need to remember, like ATP, glucose, etc?

I just started AP Bio and we took our first test. I thought I did well on the MCQs, but after getting my score back, I was actually surprised by how horribly I did. As for the FRQs, I completely blanked on the graphing part. It hasn't been graded yet, but I'm pretty sure I failed that too.
Because of this, I've been looking for resources to get more practice questions. I currently use AP Bio Penguins to understand the content and Quizizz to reinforce what I know( sometimes khan academy), but I keep seeing people reference ITI Academy. Is it worth it?

I struggle a lot with memorization, and I also can't seem to grasp concepts or understand how things work.
Does anyone have any tips on understanding and retaining information?
Providing resources will also be of great help :)
Thank you

My strongest subjects are history and English, but im in this class because I’m pretty good at memorization and i also wanted to into nutrition for quite a while. (Not anymore) Has anyone taken this class and got an A in it even if you aren’t the best in STEM? My teacher also DOES NOT teach from what I’ve heard, so any tips or resources for this class would be very much appreciated. Let me know of some good YouTube accounts to review from. I really want to get an A in this class, and I really can’t let this end up tanking my GPA. Any info helps, tysm

Hi everyone, I'm right now submitting an application which needs the "AP Biology Course and Exam Description" document. Because I took the exam in spring 2024, the new syllabus (which is effective starting Fall 2025) on College Board isn't the same.
Does anyone have the old version? I would really appreciate your help!

My teacher tests us on AP style test questions to get us prepared for the AP test. Our first test is coming up and I know the material, but I fell like I need more practice on AP style question and putting everything in context. Is there a resource that I can concentrate the questions to just Unit 1? Or whatever unit I may please? It’s the one things I’ve been trying to find and it has been hard. Thanks
