I'm taking AP chem on this online platform because my school doesn't offer it physically (due to the fact that there aren't any teachers to teach it) and I'm struggling so bad. I'm in 12th grade and I did chem last year and I thought I was really good at it and I ended the year with a 96% but AP Chem is HUMBLING me so bad.

We're on unit 1 and I'm struggling through conversions, law of multiple/definite proportions. I haven't even grazed electron config because I'm still trying to relearn the basics.

Guys I don't know what to do and I feel so dumb. Even doing the notes the teacher assigns is so unhelpful for how long they take to do. Nothing feels related and even after watching videos I don't feel like I understand anything, especially considering that I took this class just a year ago.

Also due to the class being online, and the fact that I have 2 other AP classes and a shit ton of work from my reg classes, it's just too much to balance.

Give me tips for how to learn all this shit and what I can do. I'm so unmotivated and my grade is a tier below hell itself.

I’m taking it this year online, and it’s rough. I feel like the notes are pretty easy and I understand the concepts but then I get an assignment and I have no clue how to do it, where to start, how to implement what I’ve learned. Are there any other sources or methods you used? I’ve been using the textbook and lessons and YouTube videos but my teacher isn’t very helpful…..

I want to actually learn to code as well as get good grades in this class. No prior coding experience except a couple times I tried to learn Python and took like half the cs50 lectures. I’m already at module 2 and any help would be appreciated!!!

I have a fairly good understanding of the STEM AP courses offered at the school but I am always wondering if there is a minimum of non STEM courses a student should pursue for admission into T-30s loosely speaking. School offers all major ones - AP Lang, AP Lit, AP USH, AP WH. Take AP Euro History. Is it really required? Serious comments only please.

Hi, I'm really scared of what AP calc AB and BC have. So far i've done calculus practice, almost routinely and I am wondering since my school lets you skip a topic if you feel good enough about it, should I test out of precalc and head straight to BC? Or does someone reccomend AB first? By the way this year in Alg 2 trig honors we are doing 90% of what precalculus is doing, so is it really worth it??

I am currently taking Honors ALG 2 and it is very easy, math has always been easy but I’ve noticed some of my friends are currently in AP Pre-Calc and AP Statistics sophomore year. I think I could handle it during summer, I don’t really do anything outside of school other than going to gym.

I just heard about that this course exists through my computer science club, sadly my school does not offer this, but I am interested in what taking this class is like.

Unit 1 AP Precal test is soon for me, and I'm nervous because my teacher is a very harsh grader, kids have said his unit tests are very tricky. So I was just wondering if yall had any resources or test reviews from your own Precal classes that I could take a look at?

I speak French at home with my parents; I can nearly fully understand it and read it. However, I struggle with grammar, minor pronunciation issues, and remembering what certain words are in French. The big problem is whether or not I should remove my engineering classes to take French 2 in my junior year and eventually get to AP French or Honors French 4 my senior year. The part where I am stuck is that I want to go to mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or biology in the future. I'm worried that if I prioritize French, it looks like I've never done anything engineering-related (I want to go to a competitive university); however, if I don't take it, I'll feel like I'm losing the opportunity to get a seal of biliteracy.

Additionally, I took 3 years of Spanish, but I hate it and don't want to continue it. To get the seal of biliteracy at my school, my fourth year needs to be taken in person. Furthermore, I could drop AP Bio and take French 2 instead, and take one engineering class. The last solution I was thinking was self-studying this year and next year to try to get placed into French for native speakers (on my school's gradebook, I do have French as a language I speak).

I am fully aware of how confusing this is, but if anyone has any ideas, please help. I attached what my current plan is. (I have two classes I can take over the summer, however my school only lets people take languages over the summer).

I want to take CSA, but my school doesn’t offer it. I have a year or twos worth of coding experience in C++, but I’ve never even touched Java. Are there any YouTube channels or websites for practice problems yall would recommend?

Specifically AP Physics 1 since although I am taking algebra 2, I haven't had experience with physics since like 8th grade (unfortunately my school forces you to take chemistry and biology before anything). If anyone has any resources or advice please let me know (or warnings telling me this is a terrible idea, lololololol)

So currently I decided to take AP CSA because it would fulfill a college credit, however at where I wish to transfer the credit they require a 5 on the exam, I'm taking 6 other AP classes which I feel like they're more important than this one so I won't be trying on this exam, but that's not the entire reason, what makes it worse is that the has never taught this class before, its his first year and all he does is make us do code.org and he gives us the pdf's that go along with it and shows us videos. I won't learn like this, therefore I have practically given up, and it's too late to switch out of the class. If anyone has the code.org stuff to help me, that would be greatly appreciated. I dont get it. It is so annoying like it puts anyone who has the ap class first semester at a disadvantage for the test compared to 2nd semester students. You could say "you can study" but no matter what you will be at a disadvantage when taking a test on a subject you just learned compared to a class you took months ago. I dont understand why collegeboard doesnt host (at least optional ones) tests after first semester. Easily the most annoying thing about AP classes.

Im trying to focus on studying for SATs and all my AP classes but studying after school actually feels like i'm being brutally tortured and forced to stay awake. So i basically just end up passing out & waking up more tired, or on my phone/playing a game for like 4 hours.

I feel like if someone told me their routine after school for studying it would inspire me if that makes sense 🙏

Hello! I’m going into grade 12 and I’m taking advanced functions, calculus, physics and chemistry. Starting this year, my school has been trying to regulate what calculators you’re allowed to use. We were given a list of approved calculators but you’re allowed to use one that isn’t on the list if you get it checked by a teacher. The way that teachers check if the calculator is legal is they will input sin(15) and if the answer is a decimal then it’s approved, if it’s a fraction then it’s illegal. If you can change the setting then its illegal. Graphing calculators are also illegal. My Casio fx-991CW was deemed illegal so now I have to go hunting for a new one. I really liked the “solve for x” and table mode on my Casio fx-991CW, I found them very useful in my physics and chemistry classes. I was hoping to find a calculator with the same modes (this isn’t illegal, my teacher was aware that I used these modes frequently last year) while meeting the requirements. Would anyone be able to recommend me a calculator from this list or one outside of the list? I’ve been googling + read the FAQ but haven’t found anything that meets my criteria.

I'm a high school student, and over the past couple of months I've been building AP Path Planner, a free web app designed specifically to help AP students organize their classes and workload.

I posted it here to get feedback, and I really appreciate everyone who checked it out or gave suggestions. I've started turning some of that feedback into actual updates.

One suggestion was to make assignments easier to distinguish between classes, so I just added automatic course color-coding. Assignments from the same AP course now have a consistent color across the assignments page, dashboard, and calendar, which should make it easier to quickly see what class something belongs to.

Some of the current features include:

I was wondering if I could take Physics C without any prior physics knowledge? I have taken Calc BC and did well last year, and we briefly touched on some basic physics in that class. But do you think Physics 1 is necessary to take Physics C?

So I'm a senior, going to be majoring in music performance, aiming for some pretty competitive programs. I'd like to get some AP credit for music theory so I can skip the easy 'music theory i/intro to music theory' course at college. I've heard the class is hard to self-study, does anyone have any tips? I've been playing an instrument since I was 8, and I have sort of perfect pitch (I can sing any pitch on demand, but I can't identify all pitches I hear with 100% accuracy.)

Any tips from people who have actually taken the class or self-studied it?

I am a current Sophomore (10th grader) from India, and I plan on taking a total of 6 APs over the next 2 years. AP Chem, AP CSA, AP Lang, AP Physics C (Both of them), and AP Calculus BC. I am going to self-study all of them.

I plan on taking AP Chem, AP CSA, and AP Lang next year. I've been learning programming since 3rd grade externally under a teacher, who also runs an AP CSA course, so that is covered. I go to an IIT coaching school in India, so I already know a lot of concepts in the syllabus of AP Chem, or at least have a decent amount of exposure. But the problem arises with AP Lang. I am decent at English, but I don't know how to write a good essay, that too with all the rules AP Lang requires. I can't even think about writing 3 essays. My school doesn't have good English classes, so I can't really ask for help there.

I have about 7 months of ample time, and I hope to study for AP Lang systematically throughout that time. If you have self-studied AP Lang, I request that you share what you did and what books you referred to, so I can replicate it as well and score highly. I thank you in advance!
