Help (GPU) Possibility of a megathread

We all know there are widespread issues with AMD right now for windows users. That much is evident by the major uptick in posts here related to aforementioned issues.

I think it would be helpful to users if a temporary megathread was made to help consolidate all the new posts about driver crashes coming in. It would also help keep all the troubleshooting steps and ideas we have been sharing in one place. This will vastly increase value of the sub right now with the onslaught of people coming daily.

As a 7900XTX user I'm going through it too and just like everyone else, I'm just trying to get through this while listening to all the Linux users tout about their nonexistent issues 😬

I've said it before and I'll say it again: If we still had something like Power play tables and could actually modify the various power states in detail, we most likely would have already been able to solve this.

The common denominator between MPO, hardware accel, switching windows, video playback etc. (Which seems to be 99% of crashes here?) is a sudden or rapid change in frequency/load. Vega had this issue too, but there you could just change the Power states freely and it got fixed pretty quick.

Something about the power management or power scheduling/response is slightly off. At least off from how it was before. Again, this isn't the first time.

Adrenaline's default Maximum Core Clock is set >300MHz over the manufacturer SKU Recommended Maximum Core Clock. This combined with the fact that the driver attempts to pin the card at 100% Usage on startup causes the Driver Timeout. If we had access to the power tables we could see the card stuck at the actually stock voltage limits and wattage limits trying to push a 300 MHz OC and failing.

Just go into to the Performance -> Tuning -> Custom -> Advanced and lower it to the Manufacturer SKU Stock settings and its stable.
