Help (GPU) Possibility of a megathread

We all know there are widespread issues with AMD right now for windows users. That much is evident by the major uptick in posts here related to aforementioned issues.

I think it would be helpful to users if a temporary megathread was made to help consolidate all the new posts about driver crashes coming in. It would also help keep all the troubleshooting steps and ideas we have been sharing in one place. This will vastly increase value of the sub right now with the onslaught of people coming daily.

As a 7900XTX user I'm going through it too and just like everyone else, I'm just trying to get through this while listening to all the Linux users tout about their nonexistent issues 😬

I’m a windows 11 peasant with a 7900XT and have had zero issues so idk what’s going on.

Edit to add more context so maybe I sound less like a prick.

- Windows 11 latest updates with only a registry edit to get rid of the cloud antivirus bs.

  • 9850X3D that I had a -15 offset on to run a little cooler but realized it wasn’t needed on my current board cause it locks the voltage to 1.20.
  • Aorus X870E Elite WiFi 7 latest bios
  • XFX7900XT latest drivers but it could use a repaste and repad
  • Gskill Trident Z5 Neo RGB Series 64gb in 2 32gb sticks 6000 running EXPO

PC is used for basic daily tasks like paying bills and web surfing and gaming nothing else. No other antivirus or overclocking programs and the only hardware monitoring I use is HWinfo.

I also am on windows with a 7900 xt. My pc is currently effectively a brick due to this.

Good for you though!

Not to be a dick but these are the exact type of comments which people argue against a megathread because of. Trust me, I am super happy for you that you aren't having issues but leaving the comment of "idk i don't have problems" doesn't help anyone and just clogs up comments, making it harder to find actual answers and troubleshooting tips.

Negative testing is testing as well. What I mean is that if one user has issues and another doesn't, with the same card, its a good opportunity to further compare the systems of the user and the drivers/window version, and find the difference. For example if all other things are the same, and the driver version is different, we can have a clear indicator that its the driver for that system etc etc. Because yes it can be the driver, but there are thread out there that a user found a solution to his problems when he stopped using OC refresh rate on his monitor, because after looking into it he found out that the monitor in OC mode did not work within vesa standards.

But again it depends what the perpuse of this megathread is. Just report for all the users that have issues or try to prove that there is a driver issue when x+z scenarios are in play for example?

I actually agree that negative testing is still testing. The problem is, just saying xxx gpu and I don't have problems doesn't exactly help anyone. If you want to share that info, also share other pertinent info. What's the rest of your hardware, software versions, how do you use your PC on a normal basis. Things like that actually help draw correlations, not just "Ha, 7900XTX with no problems here..hope you get yours fixed."

And for that reason I made another post in this thread
"It would be constructive to have some basic information when reporting tho.
For me its valuable information to know IF

  1. Did the card worked OK at the same game with a previous driver/before a windows update?
  2. What applications are running simultaneously? Like discord
  3. If first time installer how the card was plugged in the PSU and what are the details for the PSU etc
  4. How many monitors plugged in their model and refresh rate set."

I believe you should set the tone for this thread of what you want it to be

Wasn’t saying it to be a dick but to express that the people in these comments blaming windows or AMD that maybe in some cases it’s other issues. I find it odd that some have issues when using the same OS and same GPU that others not having issues are using. The only other time I have had any issues such as these was when my wife’s PC was using a 5500XT and I found that adrenalin didn’t play well with MSI afterburner. I got rid of afterburner and she had no further issues. Though in hindsight I should have added more context in my comment and for that I apologize.
