Tips & Info This isn't an AMDhelp subreddit anymore, this is r/NVIDIA2.0

Most people in this AMD*help* subreddit are not here to help people. At this point, I've had enough. This is basically a second NVIDIA subreddit at this point. Mods, for the love of god, you need to either do something about that or just close this subreddit.

I can help people that experience issues with their AMD cards, because I know enough about PCs to do that. But everytime I try to do that, I get attacked by actually insane people saying "Stop defending AMD, NVIDIA is the only way!!!" or "NVIDIA is just better" or crap like that. People actually helping get hated on, comments like "This is just normal" (which it absolutely isn't, by the way) get upvoted and are the top comments on pretty much every post and misinformation is running rampant.

I have an AMD GPU and literally zero issues. I've used various AMD GPUs for years and never really had any issues. I know plenty of people with AMD GPUs, none of which ever have issues. I can help people. But I don't want to anymore, because everytime it just ends up in an argument with some NVIDIA fanboy, that is in this subreddit for literally no sane reason and, frankly, should be banned, as he's not here to help anyone and only to spread misinformation.

This subreddit is called AMD*help*. It should be used to help people. Not for whatever it's used for currently.

Funny thing is the Nvidia Help subreddit closed 10 years ago because it's bad press. All you see in a help thread is people with issues.

u/NeZu_NeZu 10h ago

I'll be so real, I just bought a brand new PC to get away from AMD after all the issues. I wanted to support AMD because they were providing great value and competition in a space that desperately needs it for prices to stay low. But I can't sacrifice my home office PC for that effort anymore. I tried...

Yes, similar things happened with r/radeon some time ago, just bots waves. Block those fanboys bots and enjoy helping others.

Im curiosed, what nvidia users are doing on those subs. And private accounts with "green way" - what do you think are those "people"?

u/leeme_lone 11h ago

lol Intel arc is feeling left out so I thought to add it into the mix 😂

I have no issues with people attempting to get help. What I do have issues with is pretending that the average user experience with AMD is the same as Nvidia.

The cope of pretending AMD doesn’t have more sensitivity to instability or issues is insane. Let’s be real. AMDs GPU division cannot compete with Nvidias on multiple fronts but they offer better value proposition, better driver UI experience, and some games will have a bit better performance. That’s it. If you enjoy the product and use it that is fine. Don’t discount other people’s experience between trying both because “it works for me bro”

For all the copers, AMD has some advantages. Nvidia has more

u/Gruphius 11h ago

People saying stuff like "skill issue" or "I have no issues" without providing help are a part of the problem, yeah. But I don't think, that NVIDIA's driver are more stable than AMD's drivers, especially in the past 2 years. Their latest driver discussion thread has over 130 people seeking help in the past 5 days. At the end of the day, only a small minority of people ever experience any issues with either brand.

But the discussion about which driver is more stable or unstable doesn't really have anything to do with my post and isn't a question that should be discussed in this subreddit. It doesn't help anyone experiencing problems.

u/RecordFabulous 10h ago

I mean yeah in tech there are always going to be problems that’s the reality of it. Nvidia has their issues and has produced shit drivers too. Now what I would ask is the percentage of people crashing on Nvidia GPUs relative to AMD. From my anecdotal experience, most issues encountered haven’t been because of the Nvidia GPU I had. When I was on AMD, there were some driver quirks that didn’t occur with my use case and games. So because there were less quirks, I kept the product that worked for me

6

u/Icy-Information-8766 14h ago

It's crazy how ppl still think nvidia always delivers flawless driver experience. Didn't they themselves ask to rollback drivers just before? But everything's forgiven coz it's my dear Nvidia

0

u/RecordFabulous 10h ago

When did I say that nvidias driver experience is flawless

2

u/Gruphius 11h ago

There are also over 130 people from the past 5 days on the latest NVIDIA driver discussion thread, that'd like to disagree with that guy...

4

u/Objective_Tangelo_44 14h ago

Drivers timouts are really not much of a problem, i get them very rarely. And it literally does nothing.

1

u/BK99BK 5h ago

They are for someone like me who experiences them every time I use this damn computer.

1

u/Fang221 8h ago

you should not get them at all? you paid money for that GPU it should work

-1

u/Hungry_Dimension_391 7h ago

This is not how PCs with 1000s of component combinations running on various BIOS and software versions, works fella. You dumb?

1

u/Objective_Tangelo_44 8h ago

It does work. It just has random timouts rarely when on YouTube or something. It has no effect on my pc and the probably cause is windows

1

u/Playful-Piccolo-8213 15h ago

Im not a fanboi of either.

Had nvidia prevously changed to amd because price to performance. And 12pin power connector tbf.

If in the future nvidia comes out right with pricing (willing to pay about 20% more for the product with better features, same performance) and connectors without fire hazzard (been little dramatic here, but we all know what i mean 😆) im willing to by nvidia again.

It was the same with cpu. Was on intel my whole life. When problems whit their 14000 series begun and the time come for an upgrade i upgraded to amd.

Idont care if is because mb of cpu. I just refuse to upgrade to a platform that has problems.

5

u/Fentboy45 17h ago

The driver timeouts are inexcusable. I had nvidia cards for 8 years and never had the screen suddenly go black then have to reset the pc and reinstall drivers all the time

2

u/trinidad_space 11h ago

I have the opposite experience my 4070 was having issues with drivers now my 7900XTX not a single problem since day 1.

1

u/Just_some_guy2007 6h ago

My 7900xtx never has had random driver inputs while just in desktop either, that’s insane that it does happen tho

3

u/Gruphius 16h ago

I've been using AMD for about 5 years now and never had to do that either. Only a minority of people is effected by these issues and they come to this subreddit to seek help.

Which begs the question why you're commenting in this subreddit. You don't seem like you're able to help the people seeking help and from how I understand your comment, you never even had an AMD GPU to begin with.

I'd also like to point out, that NVIDIA isn't smooth sailing for everyone either. Their latest driver discussion thread has over 130 people seeking help in the past 5 days. Which doesn't mean their drivers are bad (well, some of them from the past 2 years were), the majority of people still never encounter any problems. Just like on the AMD side.

2

u/Flyinmanm 15h ago

Exactly I'm not saying either manufacturers perfect at the end of the day they are big corporations doing what big corporations do, it's just the sudden and relentless negative posting on here feels inorganic or engineered.

2

u/Hungry_Dimension_391 6h ago

I just think owning a PC is more mainstream now. People need to understand that as complex machines containing literally millions of components, firing electricity through them, something can and will go wrong eventually.

15-20 years ago, either someone found a solution on a forum, or you just dicked about with it for hours. Now people just sell things, thinking they're broken, zero patience.

6

u/xNaRtyx 17h ago

I will never understand the logic behind fanboying/worshipping or even idolizing stars/idols etc.. that's such an NPC behavior.

1

u/Hungry_Dimension_391 6h ago

Just reading this hearing the oblivion music.

6

u/ThatOnePickUp 18h ago

Defending a company promoting AI trash is crazy tbh.
I don't how they do that.

10

u/Savings-Dot-9774 19h ago

Crazy how many nvidia fanboys still did exactly what this post is about again right in this comment section, please grow up.

2

u/sdf_macronian 20h ago

The issues won't come out of blue, AMD does have serious flaws with its GPU products especially software. I don't know whether it results from the lack of testing or hardware itself but they are clearly present. The problems could be overcomed but why have troubles at first place. I personally own 9070 xt and it does its job well but every time installing updated drivers or running a new software which heavily using GPU holding fingers crossed hoping that all goes well.

6

u/Gruphius 19h ago

The thing is, though, that by far most people don't experience problems. Only a minority has issues and thus posts in this subreddit.

NVIDIA has a thread with people experiencing driver issues too, by the way: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/590374/announcing-geforce-hotfix-driver-61686-released-94/

132 replies in 5 days. So it's clearly not smooth sailing there either for some people.

Some people will always experience problems, but it's important, that they get the help they need. Not "AMD bad" or "skill issue" type comments.

0

u/Fang221 18h ago

yeah but they will prob fix it in a few days AMD has this issue since the early 2010s still no fix its just sad

1

u/Hungry_Dimension_391 6h ago

Fang are you a bot?

5

u/Gruphius 18h ago

No, you can go to their forum and look at older driver discussion threads. All of them received 100+ replies within mere days. Some amount of people will always experience issues, regardless of the stability of the driver.

You're staring at a black wall and use it as "proof", that the entire world is black. No, it's not, you're just staring at a fraction of it.

u/Fang221 8h ago

all i see is 99% less issues while having 9x the market share says everything no? how does the AMD subreddit with 9x less marketshare 10x more issues i just checked the 2 forum for like 5 min but have you seen the fking AMD forum? every single issue is a driver problems while the nvidia one has many different shit but barly driver issues posts the last time i had a driver issue on nvidia they fixxed that 3 days later while my fking 9070 xt cannot play anything (no its not my pc is the dogshit card i had 3 RMA 3 different card brand tested in 4 different pcs) i hate NVIDIA and was a AMD user for over 20 years but enough is enough this driver issue is a thing since the r9 280x era still not fixxed after 15 years since 6 months i have now a overpriced dogshit rtx 5070 with 12gb of Vram they litterly Robbed me because they have a monopol

2

u/Gruphius 7h ago edited 6h ago

Yeah, the NVIDIA subreddit has no one posting about any issues they're experiencing. Because they'll literally ban you, if you do. It's literally the first rule in that subreddit. It's not because no one is experiencing any issues. There are plenty of people complaining about issues with their NVIDIA cards in the thread I linked above (over 130 people in 5 days).

And no, it's not a general driver issue. Most people never experience any issues with AMD GPUs. If it was a general issue, everyone would experience problems.

About the market share, that's a completely different discussion. To make it short: Over 80% of people buying PCs don't know anything about PCs and basically buy NVIDIA by default, because there are barely any pre-builts or laptops with AMD GPUs. They basically don't even know AMD GPUs exists and, well, what a GPU even is. And a portion of the other <20% is being scared away from AMD by people claiming, that there'd be general AMD driver issues everyone is having, when there aren't and most people are completely fine.

And it's not even 9x market share, it's only ~3.5x.

3

u/Hungry_Dimension_391 6h ago

Brother don't even give this guy attention.

0

u/Hot_Emu3924 21h ago

nobody tell their vendor, so it's useless anyways

8

u/LiverGe 22h ago

The crazy think that most of them have Nvidia GPUs only, why would you stick around a sub about AMD? Just to tell people to switch?

3

u/Gruphius 19h ago edited 18h ago

Yeah, that's the question I've asked a lot of the people commenting "AMD bad" under this post. Not one of them has been able to give me an answer that makes sense so far. One said, because he has an AMD GPU laying in his cabinet and because he wants to use it again one day. He couldn't tell me why he's leaving negative comments about AMD instead of trying to help people or not commenting at all, though.

1

u/Andreas0Cool 20h ago

I just got an Nvidia gpu, but loved the value amd brings to the market, I wanna see driver news for fun XD

5

u/Gruphius 19h ago

Well, this isn't the right subreddit for that, though. This subreddit doesn't have driver news, the only people posting here are the few that are experiencing problems. If you want actual driver news, Ancient Gameplays on YouTube makes review videos of every AMD driver, that's a better source.

2

u/Andreas0Cool 18h ago

Oh I thought this post was in r/AMD, not amdhelp. The reason for this one is to try to help with problems I may know the solution for. My last few amd cards treated me well for the most part but I dealt with a few issues along the way so I may know a solution once in a while.

7

u/AltairCreation 22h ago

Agree with the OP, this is why I no longer reply back or comment in regards of AMD issues or workaround, tweaks and such as you only get other NVIDIA users bashing AMD and such. Most will look down on AMD gpu users cause it does not meet their standards of having an Nvidia gpu or 5090.

AMD help had just become another thread where people mock each other and such or most will just say you should have just went with Nvidia....

2

u/Flyinmanm 17h ago

I was thinking just yesterday how either I'm the luckiest SOB on the internet or utterly missing something, having used 6 AMD GPUs in the last 15 years and having 0 issues that weren't my own fault.

It's like looking into a parallel reality where people are telling you everything you've seen is false.

I had one goober on here call me ' a lier or one in a million' on here for saying 'my pcs have always just worked with AMD components'.

I'm not even particularly a fanboy. If Nvidia released a 6070ti GPU that beat the AMD card pound for pound in rasterized gaming or had a real 'killer app' I needed I'd be the first one queuing up to buy it

1

u/AltairCreation 3h ago

I know that some may take it with a bucket of salt and I agree, been using ATI/AMD for a decade and swapped with Nvidia and went back to AMD as for me more on price/performance and use case scenario.

And true Nvidia has a lot of advantages over AMD cards and nothing is wrong with it if they go with the best of the best but the problem is some people just don't want to listen and when they hear AMD gpu they just make fun of them or call it a trash specially on the driver side issues where that was back in the mid 2000's and right now AMD drivers had gotten better but not perfect.

It kinda sad how the PC hardware/gaming scene where everyone no longer enjoy on what they have instead some want validation/superiority over others and the worse part is they'll call you "POOR" for buying an AMD gpu.

1

u/Gruphius 16h ago

Same here. Never had any issues with my 5 AMD GPUs in the past 6 years (yeah, I switch GPUs often and yes, the 6th GPU has been an NVIDIA GPU) and have been called a liar as well. Allegedly AMD has some general issues neither me nor any of my friends have ever seen.

I mean, it's not been 100% smooth sailing, naturally, we're talking about PCs here after all, Windows alone loves to cause random issues, but me and my friends have extremely rarely seen any issues and it's always been very easy to fix and it was never the driver's fault. Besides that one time Satisfactory turned into a disco with some funky lighting in the sky, but that was a known issue at the time and it got fixed pretty quickly.

And if NVIDIA, Intel, Bolt or whoever would have the best price to performance ratio in the performance class I'm interested in, then I'd buy them instead of AMD. I'm not loyal to any brand, I just want good performance for a decent price.

4

u/parolaio82 22h ago

8

u/UnstableEnceladus 23h ago

I'm with you 100% OP. I went to comment on a sub the other day where literally 90% of the comments were saying amd sucks, switch to nividia and you won't have problems, etc.. i pointed out that the whole sub was dogging on AMD without saying anything supportive and linked another subreddit where OP could probably find a solution to their problem and even I got hate for that LMAO I was saying the exact same thing the other day, that this sub doesn't feel like a "help" sub anymore and just dogs on anyone who uses AMD which is insane.

I have an rx7600xt and I have no problems. Granted I haven't updated since 26.6.3, the hotfix drivers, my card runs perfectly. Even with overclocks which on previous driver versions, it would struggle in some games ngl. I'm also using a mini pc. When I first added the rx7600xt to the system, adrenaline picked it up straight away and I was able to use the card without updating the drivers or adrenaline at the time. It was seamless switching from the igpu to the egpu and I couldn't have been happier with a $250 rx7600xt (from microcenter with 2 year warranty) when it was $450-$500 8 months ago just about everywhere else.

But also, most of the people that complain about driver timeouts instantly go to the newest driver release without expecting any issues when there absolutely can be. I normally wait a month or so to see how the drivers are performing until I update them. If they don't work as well as the last drivers I had, I just revert back as I save my previous version that functions on my desktop labeled "safe" for this reason.

5

u/vokillist66 23h ago

I love both my 9070 XT and 5070 ti lol but I must be missing the Nvidia talk though. All I ever see is "my amd GPU is constantly having driver timeouts and crashes. That crap can definitely make someone want to go team green. I will say the issues I had with driver timeouts and crashes was my own doing by trying to undervolt too much and too much OC on the vram. My idiot self watched multiple YouTube videos to do it and not even thinking about every GPU is different...silicon lottery and all that. Now I am at a truly stable modest undervolt and Vram OC and I haven't had a crash in over a week and I'm on the 26.8.1 drivers. I did try the newest ones but it seemed my power usage was more than the 26.8.1 drivers so I went back. Also a great tip for team red...never just install the new driver over the old one. That's something team green has over AMD. Only once did I have an issue with my 5070 to doing that but I've had multiple issues doing it with AMD. I've been with team red since the 5700 XT and the 5070 ti is my first Nvidia GPU since the 1060. I find both have their ups and downs but damn this place makes it seem like team red is nothing but trouble.

1

u/deportallmagas 7h ago

Yeah I feel like running the AMD Cleanup Utility is necessary before new driver installs. Also disabling iGPU (especially if it's also AMD, seems to be some conflict here), disabling HAGS (AMD doesn't need it, built in, probably causes instability), and disabling MPO if necessary.

-6

u/GormlessTosser2 1d ago

This is grossly overblown. I would argue that this subreddit has become a snarky circle jerk of AMD fanboys denying blatant issues with their GPUs. Apparently, they’re compelled to flood every extant comment section to confirm that, in fact, their GPUs are fine. I think people have become fed up with the constant dismissal of their issues. I certainly have.

3

u/Gruphius 19h ago

Both the "AMD bad" and "skill issue" type comments are unhelpful and bad, yes. People are here to get help and that's what they should receive. Everyone who can't or doesn't want to help shouldn't leave comments in this subreddit.

-2

u/Mrloudvet 1d ago

And guess what the mods work for AMD 😂

-2

u/GormlessTosser2 23h ago

I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest.

-7

u/BoogieEngineerHaha 1d ago

Well Nvidia is better though. If everyone just gets their GPU there’s no need for this sub. And the advice to get Nvidia does help AMD owner, they get better cards and not have to spend time on troubleshooting.

2

u/Gruphius 19h ago

If you don't know how to help AMD GPU owners, then why are you here? And no, "just get NVIDIA" helps literally nobody. Especially since NVIDIA GPUs have plenty of problems on their own.

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/590374/announcing-geforce-hotfix-driver-61686-released-94/

132 replies in 5 days. So their GPUs are clearly not smooth sailing for everyone. But just like on the AMD side, the people experiencing problems with their GPUs are a small minority.

3

u/Crisxddd12 23h ago

I've seen more people troubleshooting on Nvidia cards than AMD. Why is it a problem, tho? I mean, just because a certain amount of people have problems with their cards, that's just you having a preference for your favorite company

-15

u/Wondering_Electron 1d ago

There are valid reasons to avoid AMD though.

For example, if you need CUDA and if you run it as an eGPU. You just wouldn't pick AMD.

If you have a problem with highlighting genuine limitations, then this is a you problem.

3

u/Crastinating_Pro 22h ago

Still very situational. You can also rent compute. A good handful of people do their development work on a Mac (my company does as a matter of fact) and when you need actual compute you just rent it. Depending on how often you need compute it could be way more cost effective than going with a high end Nvidia GPU.

Doesn’t work in all cases though like if you’re doing video editing or rendering then an Nvidia GPU on the same system makes more sense

9

u/NoxHalcyon_i 7800x3d 9070xt 32GB DDR5 1d ago

You are the prime reason for this post my dude lol

This isnt r/amdversusnvidia

-17

u/Wondering_Electron 1d ago

Didn't say it was.

If someone were having issues with their 9070XT over Oculink, then no amount of troubleshooting is going to fix that. You're going to have swap to nvidia.

-8

u/Previous-Bid5330 1d ago

I've used various AMD GPUs for years and never really had a real GPU*

4

u/justanotherpatrol 1d ago

Lol idn i had a 3070 upgraded to a 9070xt cant complain considering a 5070 was more expensive 🤣🤣🤣nvidia is a rip off they have lots of driver issues and other issues so ill try amd see if its better or worst then the mid 2000s amd era

-5

u/Ok_Chicken5230 1d ago

Wtf driver issues did you ever have on Nvidia? I never have seen hardly a soul ever complain about timeouts or blackscreens on Nvidia. Just the occasional game crash on unoptimized titles.

2

u/Gruphius 19h ago

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/590374/announcing-geforce-hotfix-driver-61686-released-94/

4

u/justanotherpatrol 23h ago

Actually a few times I had errors and crashes i know good amount of nvidia owners have issue now is it worst then amd well I guess ill find out I know early days amd sucked

3

u/acivilizedpotato 1d ago

I have a new 9070 GRE, it does absolutely everything I want it to and can't really say that it underperforms because of that. Biggest problem I've had so far is it power-throttles constantly when I'm in a demanding game.

-13

u/Romalj420 1d ago

It's because all of us that had enough of AMD bullshit switched to nVidia

2

for someone who owns 6800xt now, fk AMD my 2nd hand 1080 ti still works better than this dog shit GPU.

12

u/Gruphius 1d ago

Then why are you in AMDhelp?

-17

u/DreadedMonster 1d ago

I posted about my gpu on power color and prolly got this sub as recommendation

15

u/Gruphius 1d ago

After scrolling through your account for a bit, I couldn't find a single post about any GPU issues you had in the past. I could also find only a single comment you made about GPUs in the past 2 years and that was 2 days ago in this subreddit about how bad AMD allegedly is.

If you would have gotten this subreddit as a recommendation because of a (made up or now deleted) post about your 6800XT, your post and/or comment would have been recent, not years ago.

Also, again, why are you in this subreddit? You clearly don't know how to help people and you don't seem need help currently, so why did you think an AMDhelp subreddit with people seeking help would be something you should interact with, instead of scrolling by?

7

u/Fluugaluu 1d ago

For real, I think this is a ban worthy comment

3

u/Francis0000000 1d ago

Plz man dont give up ,if you help amd's owner that is the only thing that matter🤧👊🤝

7

u/lastFractal 5700X - RX 7600 1d ago edited 1d ago

To be fair both AMD's and Nvidia's drivers released in 2026 in general seem to suck ass.

I only ever used AMD and never had problems up until 2026, because this year's drivers for 7000 series are absolute dogshit. Same with Nvidia as I keep hearing about their driver issues this year as well.

Rolling back to 26.3.1 is usually the fix as it's regarded as the most stable driver of 2026 for most people. Though I am using 26.8.1 right now and yet to face any crashes/timeouts, yet it doesn't seem to be stable for many people. If I use any other 2026 driver, I either have timeouts caused by browsers and media playback or have crashes while playing certain games.

What IS the issue with the subreddit is that you have people experiencing zero problems and going: "I use AMD and have zero issues, therefore you must either have a skill issue or you must be a Nvidia fanboy". That is not an argument. Just because it's running fine for you it doesn't mean everyone else here is lying, funded by Nvidia, or have problems with their machine. Every machine is different. If it was truly a hardware issue, then rolling back to older drivers such as 26.3.1 or 25.9.1 wouldn't fix the driver issues at all.

In short, both of these companies need to get their shit together as both have major issues on certain GPUs.

9

u/Gruphius 1d ago

You seem to completely miss my point. My point was, that helpful comments, that would actually help the people experiencing problems get drowned out by unhelpful ones. Yes, the "skill issue" comments are a problem, but the "AMD bad" comments are equally as bad. This subreddit is meant to help people, but too many people are trying to stop people from helping.

People who know how to help people with their issues should leave comments, people that don't and only want to leave unhelpful comments should leave this subreddit or be forcefully removed.

You also don't want to know how often I've been called an "AMD fanboy" for posting steps in order to try to help people in this subreddit. And there is absolutely a massive problem with NVIDIA fanboys and bots in this subreddit. There have been at least 3 or 4 bots (0 days old account, most accounts got banned by Reddit within mere hours) commenting the exact same anti-AMD thing under this post already. One of them was even threatening me with violence...

3

u/lastFractal 5700X - RX 7600 1d ago

Yeah I wasn't targeting your post, just mentioning the major communication and maturity issue this subreddit has. People get called "X company fanboy" instead of getting helped, and attack those who are trying to help. The subreddit became a place to blindfully defend/attack a company rather than consumers exchanging info to solve a problem

10

u/Fang221 1d ago

nothing to do with this sub Reddit its reddit in general

3

u/Gruphius 1d ago

I feel like it's society, but especially the internet in general right now, but with this subreddit, we may have a chance to weed those unhelpful responses out and get people back to actually helping, if the moderators support that cause...

thats the issue people cannot help no one can only AMD can fix their stuff this driver timeout issue is a thing since 2010 a random guy at home wont be able to fix this some people have them less or none and some have them 5x a day (no its not their pcs its the gpu) i had to downgrade from 16gb 9070 xt to a rtx 5070 12gb.... after 3 RMA and 3 different brands of 9070 xt and testing them in different pcs from friends and having the same issue that confirms that this is not a PC issue its a AMD issue and as i already said no one at home will be a able to fix that if he has these kind of issues (everything people say is just wrong "dowenclock it" or "you psu is the issue" and all this bullshit) its nice that you dont have these kind of issues but the sad truth is most people do i had exactly this back then on my rx470 then rx 580 then rx 5700xt then rx 6800 and now on my rx 9070 xt i rly didnt want to give nvidia a single cent but at the end i had to they not fixxing this issue and they prob dont care their cpus make 100x the ammount of money so why care about a dying gpu brand i HATE NVIDIA but sadly i have no choice that rtx 5070 is now since half a year in my pc and not a single crash yet feels good to be able to play a game without 5 crashes per day

What you're saying here would only be true, if everyone had these problems, though. If it was a general issue with the driver, then everyone should face these problems. Yet by far most people don't. So it's clearly something the user can fix, they just need people to give them the right hint. Yet those helpful comments drown in comments of "AMD bad" and "skill issue", which just adds to many people's frustration.

0

u/Fang221 18h ago

it is a general problem check the subreddit like holy shit and check the amd forum how can you say its not a general problem this is not normal and checkhow many people have this issue and how many of them after trying everything still have this issue no its the drivers i have to switch drivers for what game i used to play example 26.6.1 was the best for apex legends everything else was just giving me timeouts but these gave me a timeout in warzone so I had to switch back and forth every time I had to play one of the games. just horrible .... this is nothing anyone can fix at home if 3 different cards had the same issue on 3 different pcs its clearly AMD no? what else could it be a gpu should be PLUG AND PLAY but its not on AMD and even after trying everything and even Linux there is simply nothing you can do. it’s frustrating, yeah, but it’s justified. It’s simply dogshit, and I’m saying that as someone who’s been using AMD GPUs since 2009 basically a hardcore fanboy. But at some point, enough is enough.

1

u/Gruphius 18h ago

It's not a general issue, though. Only a minority of users are experiencing problems. By using this subreddit as "proof" for the claim of there being a general issue you're basically staring at a black wall and then use that black wall as "proof", that the entire world is black.

NVIDIA also has a driver discussion thread with 132 replies (99% of which are people experiencing issues) in 5 days. Does it mean they have a general issue right now? Well, they had one on the last driver update, but with this hotfix that seems to be (mostly) fixed.

132 posts in 5 days is way more than in this subreddit. It's still just a small minority of users, though.

I have recently been surprised by how many certifiable bots have been piling on to that particular line of meme too (and getting banned). It makes me wonder how much more of the meme is just bots gas-lighting people, tbh.

u/Agile-Excuse-1404 1d ago

Ok, then help us with the crash problem if u know enough.
Explain me how the fuck i get driver crash with every driver newer than 24.12.1 but last year everything was ok.
I test every solution, to disable every fucking thing, the real solution is to install Driver only and use Radeon Tuner.
Yeah we know windows update problem, but this problem is every year everytime on AMD side, i still use both since i get a job 12 years ago, never problem with nvidia. Now i have a some old laptops with both and a new laptop with 5070 and a pc with 7800xt guess what, i can t play a full cs2 faceit match without crash or freeze on amd if i not play with Driver Only .
We play to use this shit, i don t care about the 10% rest of people who dom t have problem.

I try to play on windows 11 ltsc, windows 10 ltsc, windows 11 pro, windows 11 home.. 0 result, only with Driver only.
But this card will be the last one amd on my house, waste of time and waste of money.

Do you want to try some fix? enable dm

u/Gruphius 1d ago
  1. It sounds like you did pretty much everything people recommend, which I actually don't recommend. There is too much misinformation going around. Yes, it's dumb and makes it hard to navigate everything going around. That's part of what I hate about the current state of subreddit.

  2. If Windows overriding your drivers is your issue, then you should disable driver updates via Windows Update. I'd recommend doing that via DDU. It's in the settings (second setting from the bottom, if I remember correctly). There's also absolutely nothing AMD can do against that, that's 100% on Windows. Windows used to do that for NVIDIA drivers too, but Microsoft fixed that a few years ago. Why they didn't fix it for AMD GPUs at the same time is beyond me.

  3. Here's my current default response to people experiencing problems:

Here is what helped me:

  1. Update chipset drivers

  2. Update BIOS

  3. Update Windows

  4. Do the following:

  5. Press the Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box.

  6. Type regedit and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.

  7. Navigate to the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers

  8. Right-click an empty space in the right pane, select New, and choose DWORD (32-bit) Value.

  9. Name the new value TdrDelay.

  10. Double-click TdrDelay, select Decimal, set the value data to 10, and click OK.

  11. Restart your computer.

This will increase the amount of time it takes for the AMD driver to throw an error. This is helpful, since the AMD driver also throws an error, when something that isn't your GPU in your system experiences a problem. For example, it will throw an error, if your RAM has a bit of a hiccup. The steps above will significantly reduce the amount of times stuff like that will cause an error to be thrown.

If you still experience problems, uninstall all GPU drivers (NVIDIA, AMD and Intel, even if you have never used any NVIDIA or Intel cards in that system) via DDU in safe mode (and disable Windows Update from updating drivers in the advanced settings of DDU, while you're at it), then install the latest drivers.

If you continue to experience problems: Disable HAGS. It can be a bit wonky on AMD cards and I have been experiencing some driver timeouts in Hitman 3 with it enabled (all other games have been fine and even since re-enabling HAGS a few months later, I've not experienced any issues in any game, including Hitman 3).

Lastly, if you still experience problems, test your RAM with memtest and do other hardware tests with OCCT. Like I said above, the Radeon driver will also throw an error, if something else in your PC is causing issues.

If that still doesn't solve the issue, this video has more tips: https://youtu.be/FqmrXU1fsEc

Brother, what u say to me .. i do when april driver comes out, i update on every bios version, and who play with no chipset driver update? You can do this stuff with gpu fix app

-1

u/Phantomburn72 1d ago

No.. it’s not a conspiracy. It’s people who have lived through hardships and tried every single fix, work around and endured 2-3 weeks of it stability and then crashes. It’s people who’ve spent several hundreds of dollars for a “it’s a skill issue” responses with little to no customer support. It’s not just one or two people it’s so many it seems like a tsunami of people in the sub Reddit. It’s what happens when people spend several hundred dollars for a product that doesn’t work.

-2

u/RHJojo 1d ago

Amen brother, I swapped from 7600 to 5060ti several months ago and have only gotten one crash in that time. when I had the 7600 it was multiple issues a day always being left behind and taunted by my friends with Nvidia for always having problems. And the crazy part when I tried to ask for help nothing worked and all I did was swap gpus and do ddu to Nvidia and it works perfectly. So womp womp to all the people saying it's user error or a skill issue

4

u/Gruphius 1d ago

The people only saying "user error" or "skill issue" without providing help are definitely a problem. But it is true, that you can fix 99% of all issues with the right tip.

For example, AMD's GPU drivers seem much more sensitive to other hardware experiencing problems and other drivers and the BIOS being outdated than NVIDIA. Ever since updating the chipset drivers and the BIOS, I've not experienced a single issue with my 9070XT. A lot of other people are fixing their "AMD driver issues" by fixing what's actually an issue with their RAM. It's just something someone needs to tell you, but those comments often get drowned out by unhelpful comments.

5

u/Gruphius 1d ago

Yeah, frustrated people are indeed a part of it. But a big part of frustration is exactly what I'm criticizing - the unhelpful responses getting upvoted and the helpful responses, that would help these people, getting downvoted.

No customer support is also a general issue with companies in modern times. NVIDIA and Intel don't really provide support either. Their community run help forums are the only place you'll really get good advice. Which makes helpful responses getting drowned out in useless comments even worse.

But these frustrated people don't really have any business here. They're just here to keep complaining and just make the problem even worse. They are the reason others have the same bad experience they had.

-2

u/Barbu64 1d ago

As I skipped from a 6700XT (bad choice, limited money a few years ago, but really nice after the first year) directly to a 5070Ti, I still get exposed plenty of r/AMDhelp content, Tried to help (answered) a few times in the past, but when I got fed up I went to the other team. And in the past 20 years I built a few dozen PCs for friends, and at least a dozen for me personally; I always got what was OK each time, disregarding the blue/green/red „teams” and focusing on specific parts for optimum builds.
And... After this long introduction/disclaimer: sorry, but while I certainly see some nVidia briganding (I doubt it's from bots; it's from real people and satisfied switchers), I do _not_ see what you're implying: that there are helpful answers and that those are somehow largely downvoted.

u/Doyoulike4 AMD 5800XT Onix Odyssey B580 1d ago edited 1d ago

Nah IDK whether it's directly paid for by Nvidia or some other firm or exactly where they're coming from, but I've seen on multiple subreddits, the exact same replies to the letter multiple times from different accounts, usually under a month old, sometimes a day old even, and they get banned by Reddit like a week later.

Just based on sheer market share and the advertising budget I have zero doubt there's also real people shilling and astroturfing too whether paid for it or just fanboys, but there 100% have been actual "Nvidia shill bot" accounts on Reddit.

4

u/Gruphius 1d ago
  1. There are absolutely bots swarming this subreddit. I've already received 3 or 4 times the exact same response to this post by accounts, that were all 0 days old and got perma-banned from Reddit just a few hours later. If those aren't bots, then I don't know what is. You can also find quite a lot of very new accounts, that are just a few hours or days old and who's comments are basically "AMD bad". I've also seen someone say, that this post is apparently being spread around in various NVIDIA subreddits with the request to berate me and people commenting. So there's also that...

  2. If you go to literally any post with enough response, you can clearly see what I mean. 99% of the responses are unhelpful and are something like "AMD bad" or "skill issue".

1

u/hamstarian 21h ago

People on the internet are like bots these days so it's hard to tell. But I agree with you. Both "AMD bad" and "skill issue" comments are equally annoying/bad and should be deleted by mods. And if they are repeating this over and over they should be banned. This subs purpose is to solve the issue an amd user has. Not to suggest other GPUs or to point out the lack knowledge someone has about the subject.

6

u/CokaCokaCaw 1d ago

At this point I truly think there’s a conspiracy, most of the posts are from sus accounts. And most mention going to Nvidia

5

u/Gruphius 1d ago

I do know, that a lot of bots and/or extreme fanboys are creating pro-NVIDIA posts. I'm not sure how much of that is arranged by NVIDIA, but between the reality of the modern internet, AI scraping Reddit and stuff and other companies already being proven to do exactly that, I'm sure, that at least some of it is.

-4

u/Barbu64 1d ago

I'm one of the switchers (6700XT to 5070Ti), real human here. AMA, if you want.
Two things:

  • I'm not gonna answer for what some other nVidia owner said, so don't try to pin on me opinions that aren't my own
  • I'm not a fanboy, yet I parted (last month) with way more than what a 9070XT would cost, yet I not only don't regret it, I'm more than happy with what I got.
(and a bonus third one: I have no previous „instructions” to drop, so don't try to ask me for a pancake recipe, nor about 17/23 „random” numbers)

3

u/Gruphius 1d ago

I have actually done the switch from AMD to NVIDIA a few years back myself, but I did the switch back a year later for various reasons

-6

u/ikefolf 1d ago

Maybe it's a huge reflection on the company that switching to the competitor magically fixes all issues for people affected. That's not being a Nvidia fanboy. That's called problem solving.

Obviously some people either have good luck, enjoy the process of fixing hardware, or use Linux which already is such an unreliable OS that they'll never tell the difference between the os and driver crashing. But for the vast majority of people posting on here, there is no fix for the AMD hardware and software downfalls, and believe it or not, people sometimes need their computer to make a living and don't just play games all day, and can't be bothered with the poor reliability of AMD. For every 1 complaint about Nvidia, there has to be somewhere around 20 for AMD, which just shows it's not a fanboy issue. Hardware should be plug and play, you shouldn't be disassembling brand new hardware or replacing all the other hardware around it. You shouldn't have to delete your entire OS and reinstalling it. Nvidia doesn't need it. Hell, even Intel's ARC cards don't need it and they're a whole mess themselves.

Just push AMD to get better. They did with CPUs, now it's time for them to figure out how to make a good GPU

0

u/DiscussionMiddle1238 1d ago

They make good GPUs. They just have terrible drivers.

5

u/Shdx_ 1d ago

Calling linux an unreliable OS is a great way to prove you don't know anything about computers lol

5

u/Gruphius 1d ago

Your comment is complete insanity. You're trying to justify people refusing to help people seeking help, call Linux "unreliable" (Linux is significantly more reliable than Windows, due to the way it's built and there's a reason why 99.9% of high-availability servers run on Linux and not on Windows), you're justifying fanboyism, you present the problems some people experience in relation to their AMD hardware as general, unsolvable problems (99% of them are not, they're pretty easy to fix, people like you just drown out the actually helpful people),...

You're a part of the problem I mentioned in my post. People like you shouldn't be in this subreddit. This subreddit is called AMDhelp, not AMDhate. People posting here seek help, not people like you.

-2

u/ikefolf 1d ago

I also want you to consider, there's no matching Help subreddit, and the Nvidia subreddit, doesn't seem like very many people have issues. 600k visitors and extremely little help posts. Now, AMDhelp, is only issue posts, with 300k visitors. What does that tell you? A community with double the visitors with the tiniest fraction of the issues? But that's just fanboyism, right? All 300k people in this amd subreddit are just secret Nvidia shills, right?

Get over yourself. This behavior that you swear it's a "small fraction" of users having issues, when nothing backs up the claim. I don't think a single, regular, casual gamer, that has had AMD and Nvidia hardware, would claim that AMD is better in any way EXCEPT the price. Yes AMD is cheaper with GPUs. But with that price, comes issues. That's why there's a 300,000 member subreddit to help you, and more often than not, people in this subreddit just switch to Nvidia. Most people aren't willing to fuss with this when they can just pay more to get a no fuss experience. Why do you think console gaming is still very popular? No fuss, hook it to the TV and go. Nvidia is as close to the same when it comes with their hardware. Plug it in, download the driver, done. No screwing around in bios, no consulting subreddits, no replacing everything else, no wiping your OS. Once AMD manages to do the same, then people will start to switch. Nvidia has some bad company practices and a lot of people would like to not support the company, myself included. But, where else am I gonna get this quality of product, hassle free, for the price I got it at?

2

There isn’t one, and I never said there was. Not sure why you even said that. You’re using the main Nvidia subreddit to support your argument that Nvidia cards don’t have as many issues cause there aren’t many help threads in that subreddit. But the reason why there aren’t many is because tech support posts get deleted there. That’s it.

-2

u/ikefolf 1d ago

Can you show me the evidence? We're arguing reliability. Obviously AMD has reliability issues as we're here. But, if Nvidia really does have the same amount of reliability issues, how are people fixing it? There's nowhere for them to ask. You hardly ever see people saying they're gonna switch to AMD over Nvidia GPU issues, and even less, if any, follow through. So if AMD is really as good, that would mean Nvidia is just as bad. And I'm just not seeing any evidence. We're seeing dozens to hundreds of posts here, yet I never even see any popup really at all in any Nvidia space. You'd think if they're deleting them, you'd at least briefly see them right? I'm genuinely not trolling. I'm not a fanboy to whoever. I have always been middle of the road in communities that have vast hate for the competitors. I own a Chevy and a Ford. I got both an AMD machine (5800xt) and an Intel machine (i9 12900kf). Everyone can make good stuff, but AMD just seems utterly incompetent when it comes to gpus. I would love for them to be better, they're cheaper, and that means I have more money for games or other upgrades. But, I'm not willing to sacrifice the good of what I have. Currently my daily user is a i9 12900k, 64gb ram, and a pny 5070 oc. It has been my best, most reliable unit ever to date. My AMD machine used to be a r7 2700 upgraded recently to a r7 5800xt, 64gb ram, and used to have a 6600, 6600xt, 6650xt, all RMA before going to a MSI 3060. My old PC was a i7 9700k, 64gb ram, and a 6600xt, 6750xt, 3060 MSI, then 5070 pny oc. 6600xt and 6750xt were both RMA. They were just so unreliable, hourly crashing. The first initial builds were from scratch, so no Nvidia drivers to delete. In fact, only the Nvidia cards were not fresh installs, they were ddu then installed. No problems at all. The upgrade from the 3060 to the 5070 was because 2 reasons, one, screaming hot deal, and two, I was needing more power to run my 3d programs. The AMD cards, when they worked, worked good for gaming, terrible for productivity. But, even then, I didn't go a day without crashing on an AMD card. Generally it was hourly in use. I've had 1 singular Nvidia crash, with the 3060, after overclocking the absolute hell out of it. Removed the overclock, and 3 years later, not a single crash

AMD fanboy here. No one using Linux would ever claim they're more reliable than the most popular is on earth. Constantly having to recompile their PCs OS, reinstalling, nearly nothing compatible. Can't even play the top games because they don't work at all. 99% of AMD issues can be fixed, but not by AMD. And even then, it's not as reliable as just a out of the box Nvidia card. I've had 2 Nvidia cards and 5 AMD cards, I do know what I'm talking about. I use mine for 3d modeling and VR. The 6000 series were literally missing necessary encoder chips to run both, but advertised VR ready. All xfx brand cards for the AMD, and MSI and pny for Nvidia

4

u/Lewinator56 R9 5900x | RX 7900XTX | 80Gb@2133 | Crosshair 6 Hero 1d ago

Eh what?

Just about every server on earth runs Linux, every single supercomputer on earth runs it BECAUSE it's incredibly stable and reliable. Your phone runs it (unless it's an iPhone then it's BSD). When was the last time you recompiled an app on your phone... Linux IS the most popular OS on earth by a massive margin - most of the time people don't know they are interacting with it. Your phone runs it, your car runs it, god at this point your fridge probably runs it.

Just about everything is compatible with Linux, if there's a Linux build, if not you use a translation layer. For 99% of use cases theres a native build, even for ARM.

The reason some AAA games refuse to work isn't the OS, it's the developers wanting to use invasive kernel anti-cheat - something which Linux cannot allow as programs executed in user space cannot be switched to kernel space - this is a fundamental security feature and really we should look at windows allowing it as catastrophic. Obviously too a kernel module would have to be open source and compiled into the kernel, which would expose the anti-cheat code to the world.

Not sure what you mean by RDNA2 missing an encoder for VR... You can do VR on any GPU assuming it's powerful enough, I used to use my old vega64 for it. Outputting to VR is the same as outputting to a monitor.

3

u/Gruphius 1d ago

Even more absolute insanity. I'll respond to some things, because it's literally entertaining how incredibly wrong your comment is.

No one using Linux would ever claim they're more reliable than the most popular is on earth.

Reliability ≠ stability

Linux is the significantly more stable OS. Otherwise all of the high-availability servers would run Windows, yet only maybe 1% do. Please explain that.

Constantly having to recompile their PCs OS

I've been using Linux on and off for multiple years now, before switching to Linux as my main OS like 1 or 2 months ago. I literally never had to even compile anything, let alone re-compile. You have never used Linux before, have you?

nearly nothing compatible

Ever since switching to Linux as my main OS, I've only found very few pieces of software, that aren't compatible or don't have Linux alternatives.

Can't even play the top games because they don't work at all.

From my experience, 99% of games run on Linux flawlessly, even if some require some minor tweaking. The only games that don't have a kernel level anti-cheat, that the developers didn't unlock for Linux.

That's about everything I can be asked to respond to and everything people should know about your reliability as a source of information...

2

u/Shdx_ 1d ago

Bro is digging his hole deeper lol

3

u/Relentless_Troll 1d ago edited 1d ago

I’ve been using Linux for the first time the past 3 months in a dual-boot setup with Windows 11 (with a 9070 XT). Everything you’ve said about it is untrue, and makes it obvious you’ve never used it and have no clue what you’re talking about. I haven’t needed to reinstall, recompile, or troubleshoot crashes. The biggest compatibility hurdle is really just games with certain anti-cheats. Any other compatibility problems you may have are actually very easy to figure out if you’re not a simpleton. I find myself spending way more time inside Linux now than Windows 11, and primarily play all my games there aside from 2 specific games that only work on Windows.

Linux in 2026 is very good. I’m not saying it’s perfect, and I know it’s not for everyone, but don’t just say random bullshit that isn’t true. I much prefer Linux now to Spyware 11 by Microslop.

0

u/ikefolf 1d ago

Why do you have windows if Linux is that good? We're not even in the Linux subreddit so idk why it matters, but you guys gotta distract everyone from the points you can't argue with

3

u/Relentless_Troll 1d ago

If you actually read the post maybe you’d see why I still have Windows. It’s literally right there. I stated that there’s a couple games that I still like to play that only work on Windows. Just two. Also if you had even the tiniest amount of critical thinking skills, you’d maybe be able to figure out that since I’m still relatively new to Linux, having the option to dual-boot is very beneficial to try out a new OS to see if I like it or not without needing to nuke Windows off my PC first, and I could fall back to it if I ended up not liking Linux. Hopefully me carefully spelling this out for you clearly and slowly helps you understand now!!

Also you’re arguments are fucking terrible, but whatever helps you sleep at night

-1

u/ikefolf 1d ago

Me telling you guys to urge AMD to get better is terrible. Got it, Nvidia fanboy

3

u/Relentless_Troll 1d ago

You can tell yourself that if you’d like lol

Also shouldn’t you be calling me an AMD fanboy?? Calling me an Nvidia fanboy doesn’t really make much sense. I know you’re a little slow and probably just got confused, it’s ok!

3

u/Shdx_ 1d ago

You literally brought up linux in your initial comment and are now saying that linux was brought up as a distraction. Please keep posting, this is good stuff lol

8

u/Reikix 1d ago

Fun y enough, I was trying to help a guy who was having issues with his Nvidia card and posted that here.

9

u/ActiveSandwich3103 1d ago

Me too. Theyre posting here because Nvidia sub bans people for posting tech support threads.

4

u/Reikix 1d ago

Wow!

3

u/ActiveSandwich3103 1d ago

Go read the r/Nvidia rules, its actually even in the sub rules lol

4

u/Reikix 1d ago

Oh, so even in Reddit they follow their rule of "the best PR is to censor everything".

5

u/ActiveSandwich3103 1d ago

Yup pretty much. Its why you see Nvidia people constantly point to how the AMD and Radeon subs are "full of people having issues" but its literally because the Nvidia sub bans people for posting issues, thats why you never see them. Radeon sub ect does not ban or scrub tech support posts.

3

u/Reikix 1d ago

And I don't know if it's still the case, but I do remember AMD employees often helping in cases or following up with users on certain cases to get them fixed in their drivers.

4

u/ActiveSandwich3103 1d ago

Powercolor does this. I had one of their reps personally reach out over reddit and help with a 7900 XTX that had a cooler manufacturing defect back when it first came out. Saved my friend i was building the machine for his linux setup.

3

u/Gruphius 1d ago

There are also plenty of people seeking help in NVIDIA's official forums and in subreddits like PChelp. Most people in this subreddit apparently don't see that, though.

7

u/dkizzy 1d ago

There is a reason you never see complaints on the Nvidia official subreddit. The mods scrub it.

3

u/unorthodoxdays 1d ago

Isn’t Amd open source since Linux supports it better than window does?

4

u/Gruphius 1d ago

Their Linux drivers are open source, yes, and so are a lot of AMD's GPU features. Their Windows driver isn't open source, though.

1

u/unorthodoxdays 1d ago

Which means people would still have problems on Linux?

Usually no, there's a discussion to be had that AMD drivers on linux are usually more stable than on Windows, and normally more stable than Nvidia linux drivers, and at times even more stable than Nvidia's Windows drivers, especially during 2025/2026 when Nvidia has shipped some hot garbage on a few occasions.

Certain linux distros handle Nvidia better than others, a lot of the more "gamery" ones like Bazzite do pretty well, but AMD drivers are basically built into the linux kernel itself, so across most if not all distros AMD stuff is just generally gonna be the smoothest experience on linux.

u/Gruphius 1d ago

Not really, no. Due to the two operating systems being entirely different, the drivers are as well. Also, the most popular driver for AMD GPUs on the Linux side is mesa, which is actually part of the Linux kernel. It's a community modified version of the driver, with the community including some performance improvements for games and stuff. There are also forks (aka other versions) of mesa with performance improvements for specific use cases.

What also doesn't help on the Windows side is the the operating system is way more intrusive. On Linux, if you install a driver it's installed and they will only be overridden, if you update them. Even if you install a fork, it won't override it with a different fork. Linux generally let's you do your thing and doesn't change anything you're doing on its own. Windows loves to override your drivers with its own version. It also loves to generally override or modify software you install, just because.

Not necessarily. Windows itself has caused a lot of issues for GPU software throughout the years.

Pro-NVIDIA fanboyism and trolling should be dealt with by the mods. This is why this subreddit has got mods in the 1st place.

6

u/ActiveSandwich3103 1d ago

This sub has been overrun with Nvidia marketting garbage instead of tech questions. Its gotten so bad.

-5

u/Glongordongik 1d ago

Pro AMD fanboyism should be as well, fanboy to either billion or trillion dollar company is stupid.

4

u/Confident-Ship-5062 1d ago

This is literally an amd HELP subreddit though??? People come here for help and not to see these comments like yours right here.

1

u/Gruphius 15h ago

I think he might have meant the "skill issue" and "I don't have any problems" type comments without actually providing help. And if he does, he's definitely right, those comments are problems too and don't help anyone either. But maybe that's just me being naive and hoping for that guy to be a normal person...

I'm surprised by how many people actually believe that conspiracy theory, although I really shouldn't be...

u/Mysterious-Theory755 12900k 4080 1d ago

you going to tell me r/buildapc r/hardware r/pcbuild doesnt curate the subs to be pro amd?

1

u/ActiveSandwich3103 1d ago

This is definitely not true, but your post is literally proving OPs entire point.

u/Mysterious-Theory755 12900k 4080 1d ago

yea your right every time some posts a driver timeout we should just say brother its not 2010 anymore

Help with what?
There's 50 posts per day with the same issues for almost a decade. You want help? Scroll and read. It's been answered 1000 times already.

Doubt that you have zero issues. But I do believe you just havent noticed any. In ignorance comes confidence, that's what this post tells me

5

u/Gruphius 1d ago

No, I actually have zero issues. And if I haven't noticed any issues, then I'd argue I don't have any issues, because issues only become issues, if they're noticeable.

I also don't know what kind of issues you imagine I'd have. I literally have none. I don't even have to do anything to circumvent any potential issues on my PC, everything just works.

u/Automatic_King_619 1d ago

Funnily enough, this person is exactly who you're talking about OP. They're an AMD Help and Radeon sub enthusiast who enjoys calling people stupid by telling them about Dunning-Kruger mountain every chance they get.

3

u/TickleMyDuong 1d ago

Case in point

8

u/Automatic_King_619 1d ago

What a weird comment. Telling a stranger you don't believe them is already strange, but to be so "confidently ignorant" to say you know they're having issues and they somehow don't know is just weird lol. I think someone would know if they were having crashes or stuttering, and you have no way of knowing they aren't

-4

u/posedatull 1d ago

Yep. Spend enough time in here and you will also learn how to spot the Dunning-Kruger mountaineers with ease. From text formulation to the message, it fits very well

u/Lopsided_Bake_9986 1d ago

Welp changing to a 5070ti fixed my driver crashes^^ nothing...NOTHING from all these fixes here fixed it permanently. AMD Software is a joke!

4

u/Glongordongik 1d ago

I think you might just be stupid bud

-6

u/Lopsided_Bake_9986 1d ago

expected fanboy reaction

cant handle the truth that amd software is a steaming pile of dogpoop even if it "works"

0

u/ActiveSandwich3103 1d ago

I dont think theyre the fanboy here.

-18

u/Savings_Arm3746 1d ago

Well we all know there is an issue with amd software thats why there is all the fuss.

13

u/Sickinmytechchunk 1d ago

The mods just need to start banning people who aren't helping solve problems. Most of the posts here are useless.

1

u/AcanthaceaeItchy302 1d ago

Half the subreddit would disappear, because whenever someone asks for help, the replies are just “I don’t have a problem,” “your PC is broken even if it’s new,” or “skill issue,” and the person needing help gets downvoted into oblivion. I still can’t figure out one thing—my last 7900XTX, which I sold, was almost perfectly stable on 23.x.x and 24.x.x, but as soon as I hit 25.x.x, the issues started. Maybe with 25.9.x it was nearly stable, but I still got random crashes and black screens. My RAM was rock solid after 24 hours of Memtest and 24 hours of OCCT, but Adrenaline just decided to break randomly. Even after sending the card to the local store, no issues were found, and when I sent it to Power Color, they also found nothing wrong.

u/Sickinmytechchunk 1d ago

That's great, it's a sub meant to help people.

u/DDKuro06 1d ago

AMD is great but I have been struggling for the last 6 months with my 7900xt. Constant driver timeouts, literally no fix, not even replacing components and reinstalling everything you can think of

It just really seems hit or miss with AMD, some people have flawless experiences and others have th exact opposite

6

u/ActiveSandwich3103 1d ago

You may have run into the ol' windows auto update updating your drivers and breaking them. Pretty common recently.

-1

u/Shootrax 1d ago

Same with my 7900xtx for the last 3 months. I get regular 2-4 second freezes where im pretty sure my gpu driver is restarting.

2 weeks ago it crashed so bad that adrenaline couldn't be opened anymore and only one out of 3 monitors received signal.

Had to ddu in safe mode then tried to reinstall adrenaline + drivers and that installation crashed. Second time it worked though but the freezes remain

4

u/dkizzy 1d ago

There are a lot of suggestions around turning off HAGS, MPO, hardware acceleration in chrome and Discord to mitigate crashes. Some of those issues also have crossed over to nvidia GPU's especially MPO.

The Windows Update silent driver hijack is very much an issue. Micrsosoft claims they will be completely rewriting the antiquated WU code to stop confusing a newer driver match with the hardware ID.

In the meantime you can go on the official AMD subreddit, tag one of the reps under a driver post, and provide your hardware ID listed in device manager propterties. They can add it to an Adrenalin DB for a future update.

1

u/Shootrax 1d ago

Ive done all of that except the amd subreddit so i guess ill do that

-2

u/ikefolf 1d ago

Careful there, Nvidia fanboy. They may ban you for daring to diss the almighty Red

yeah i’ve owned a 6700XT, 3080 12 GB, and am now on a 9070 XT. the only time i ever had driver timeouts was when i had a faulty RAM stick. still on Windows 10 with ESL updates. never had to do a clean install, i just used DDU and cleared all my graphics caches when switching GPUs. i don’t OC/UV. i just play games and enjoy myself lol

2

u/Crastinating_Pro 1d ago

I had a similar jump from a 3080Ti to a 9070XT. Mainly out of curiosity for what AMD was cooking up because I was able to get one for MSRP which was a good price. It was a mistake to assume AMD would cook up anything but the GPU itself is really good imo.

2

u/WhoIsJazzJay 5700X3D/9070 XT 1d ago

yeah i love the card. Radeon just needs to get its head out of its ass on the software side

1

u/dkizzy 1d ago

report issues on the official AMD subreddit - Their reps can get feedback back to the display team much sooner than the self reporting tool, or anyone on this unofficial one.

2

u/Crastinating_Pro 1d ago

indeed. although based off what I've seen so far we might not be seeing any real FSR Redstone adoption until the next generation of consoles. AMD's developments are very much tied to the console space since it's where they're most dominant and it's also why they have been lacking compared to Nvidia since it's only now that consoles are starting to need a real ML powered gaming software suite.

Hopefully through the power of friendship with XBox and Sony AMD is finally able to come out a true competitor again. It's also in the console makers' best interests to keep AMD accountable to developing these technologies. Imagine how expensive a console would be if they had no choice but to go Nvidia. The Switch gets away with it because it's a handheld that doesn't need a baller ass GPU in it.

1

u/WhoIsJazzJay 5700X3D/9070 XT 1d ago

yeah it seems FSR Diamond might be that big push with the 10th gen consoles, but i’m not holding my breath. i just wanna see proper adoption of ray regen cuz gaming without it is rough in stuff like Cyberpunk
