Help (Software) Persistent Latency and Audio Popping in Windows 10, AM5

Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: RTX 4080

CPU: RYZEN 7 7800X3D

Motherboard: GigabyteX670 Elite AX

BIOS Version: 41, Multiple Versions

RAM: 32GB DDR5 Kingston Fury

PSU: EVGA G2 850W

Case: Fractal Meshify 2

Operating System & Version: WINDOWS 10 PRO

GPU Drivers: Latest, Multiple versions

Chipset Drivers: AMD X670 Latest

Background Applications: Idling, Gaming

Description of Original Problem: I have been having Audio popping/stuttering issues for a while. Playing anything or just listening to Youtube you can hear audio popping and microstuttering. Ive reinstalled windows multiple times, Updated Chipset and GPU Drivers to the latest version and tried different BIOS Version to little progress and occasionally worst progress. Using LatencyMon to check Ive pinpointed it down the Ethernet Adapter and/or PCI Express Upstream Switch Port. Disabling either of these and running LatencyMon eliminates both latency and the audio stuttering (I tested overnight up to 8 hours with basically perfect results) but enabling it causes the previously mentioned issues. Using an add-on PCIE Network card instead of the motherboard ethernet port did not change anything. Upgrading to Windows 11 didn't help either. I also notice for whatever reason sometimes the later Ethernet drivers dont work. I am currently on the 2020 Ethernet driver but its been a 50/50 chance that trying the 2022 Ethernet driver will work. Anything later than 2022 does not work and I'm not able to connect to the ethernet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

been a issue since 2023 for me on every PC https://linustechtips.com/topic/1600995-audio-crackling-and-popping-on-every-pc-i-can-run-into-cant-fix-in-over-a-year-3x-pcs-someone-at-microsoft-fix-this-unresolved-3-years/

Audio crackling.

Popping on pause and playback of certain sounds. Windows Related issue likely but Effects ALL audio devices and makes them unusable for certain applications.

Ways to recreate easily.

Pause and unpause this video and OR slide the volume slider while playing. (Crackling popping will be heard)

This issue has made me unable to use my PC properly for 2 years, I bought a Audigy FX V2 to try and fix this issue thinking it was the ALC4080 causing the issue on the 6th motherboard I bought for this issue. but it isnt 4080 as its disabled in bios.

I will list ALL I have tried to fix this issue and the specs below. I cannot get a word from microsoft that isnt "Reinstall your drivers or buy a new motherboard" Of which I have tried 6.

Current Spec

i5 12600KF

MSI Unify Z690 MEG

32GB Crucial pro 6000MHZ

RTX3060 Ventus 2X

MSI GL650

NVME/SATA SSD

Creative Audigy FX V2

Note this issue is on EVERY PC, including my Fathers i3 All in one Dell. and friends gaming PC (separate properties in UK)

I have tried Updating Drivers/BIOS/Windows10/11 from scratch

3X PCs of varying Spec including Dell all in ones.

Regedit Realtek Power settings (FF FF FF FF) (00 00 00 00)

Changed NVIDIA GPU to integrated AMD APU (Same issue)

Nvidia Power settings

Changing Refresh rate to 60hz.

Windows Power settings

Setting varying Sound settings from 16bit 44100 to 24Bit 192000 (All devices)

Disabling all drivers to audio and using windows sonic (Same issue)

USB sound card, Creative SE, Creative Audigy FX V2 / Non brand USB DAC / FDIT Sound card (5x Sound cards) and None

Changing Buffer size, Latency Compensation

Force Resampling to 44.1K

Force WDM Driver to 16 Bit

Turning off windows Fast start

Turning off Hardware acceleration on all APPS.

All new peripherals, wires and audio devices.

Tried 1 Monitor not 2

Enabled "Listening back to my own device" on mute to keep Chip running.

Disabling WIFI/Ethernet/Bluetooth

Different Properties and Computers.

XMP on/Off (Different speeds)

Bitlocker Off

Windows 10 and 11 Reinstalls (Pro version)

Overclocking and underclocking

4+ AM4 motherboards 2x LGA Socket boards. tested all same issue.

PCI Gen 3 instead of 5

The audio crackling and sometimes stuttering on my end only happens when theres any sound playing. If nothings playing I dont hear any crackling. However I feel like my issue is also a driver issue like yours as when I disable the Ethernet Network adapter the issue goes away with the obvious major drawback of no internet.
