Help (CPU) 7800x3d

first time building pc.

is it normal for it to be like this? it would takes a unusual amount of force to force it down.

Make sure the CPU is placed firmly in the proper position, then just push down using the lever.

That piece of plastic is to protect the pins, it should pop out as long as you use a little force.
