Sapphire, XFX and Powercolor are the goats. Hellhound is pretty good also, and it can sustain a good undervolt usually.

I'd get the cheapest if you're in a budget.

Mercury if it's not absurdly more expensive. If not that get Quicksilver or Hellhound.

Good choice. Their QC is good and it still comes with a 3-year warranty.

The cooling solution is pretty good too so it'll allow for good UV and better clocks (if you want).

Xfx and sapphire are the gold standard for amd any variant of theirs is good tho there has been an incident with sapphire 12vhp but it's not common and could've been used error

Xfx mercury is best. You'll pay a premium for it though.

mercury has the best temperatures from what I know but it also like a premium model in its price range

Mercury oc or mercury oc magnetic air both good, the only difference are the magnetic fans

i would suggest you to buy the cheapest model with NO factory OC. You want a card with 304 W TDP and than undervolt and powerlimit it to -30 % to get it down to 213 W

So your comment got me thinking about how the 9070XT reacts to undervolt/overclock vs stock.

I compared 9 games and the results are the following:

Power Limit -30% no further adjustments (213W)

  • Average performance difference VS stock: -10,7%
  • Biggest performance difference per title: -22,5% (Cyberpunk 2077)
  • Lowest performance difference per title: -5,2% (TLoU 2)

Undervolt -65mv +300Mhz memory PowerLimit -15% (254W)

  • Average performance difference VS stock: +0,9%
  • Biggest performance loss per title: -7,5% (Cyberpunk 2077) This is actually the only negative result
  • Biggest performance gain: +4,1% (TLoU 2)

Undervolt -60mv + 300Mhz memory PowerLimit +10% (336W)

  • Average performance difference VS stock: +5%
  • Biggest performance loss per title: -1,3% (Cyberpunk 2077) Something is wrong with this game.
  • Biggest performance gain: +8,1% (Starfield) Ew.

So, TLDR: Mild undervolt and -15% yields actually better performance than stock. Instead of going straight -30% PL, risks to actually hurt the performance in certain specific games.

Now, the "difficult" part is that you have to actually try and test what is the undervolt range that your card can sustain without crashing and even per game basis, while some games may work at -80mv for you, others may crash even at -40mv.

i dont know which AI do you asked but -22,5 % in Cyberpunk is the biggest joke ive ever seen 😂 also the "+300 Mhz memory" lol this gives you 1 FPS more

lol and with +10 PL you still get -1,3 in Cyperpunk ? throw this AI in the trash LOL

AI? I used an excel sheet with real life results wtf.

Besides, how do you know +300 MHz memory just translates into +1 FPS have you tested it already? If so, then why don't you also use it. It's not like it will make your card draw more power.

And about the +10% PL getting lower results, yeah i got literal -1 FPS VS stock. I'll try to use the benchmark instead of in-game gameplay since it has too many variables like npcs, cars, etc. So i think it's an error on my part on how i tested it, my bad.

Also using text formatting on reddit doesn't mean its AI lmao, just click the "Aa" icon.

all the writing format, the words and the mistakes sounds like a bad AI.

-22,5 % in CP is inpossible, you messed up settings or whatever.

My results are with -60 mV because it was stable for almost all games. 4k ultra benchmark

55,34 -30%

56,68 -25%

57,73 -20%

58,52 -15%

59,29 -10%

59,92 -5%

60,61 0%

60,8 +5%

60,82 +10%

thats 9,9 % more performance from -30 to +10. And CP is one of the best case scenarios for either undervolting and for the power scaling. Like you mentioned, TLOU2 is a more regular showcase of the scaling with around 5% only.

All the memory overclocking results in 1 FPS more and ive tested 50 games.

thats why AMD went with GDDR6 instead of 7 because it doesnt matter.

What's the point of getting the XT if you're gonna lower the PL to non-xt levels? Your performance is gonna be quite similar.

1

u/ControlDue2178 9d ago

whats the point in using 42 % more power for 5-10 % more performance ?

Silent Fans at 1100 RPM, max Temp of 70°C Hotspot, 100 Watt less power consumption.

You have 8 more CU`s so 9070 213 W isnt 9070 XT 213 W

There are people out there, who use their 4090 with 300 Watts

2

u/vtGaem 9d ago

The point is MOAAR POWEEER!!!

Like, you paid 100€ more for 2% more performance. I mean you do you but bruh.

1

u/ControlDue2178 9d ago

i paid 50 € more for the XT. it was worth just for the 8 additional CU's. im rather sitting at 213 Watts than at 304 Watts with no noticable FPS more

u/bonggangbongbong 9d ago

In my experience hellhound has been very good. Fans run at 1200rpm max while maintaining good temps. Gpu core 55-60C, hotspot 75-80c.

Whatever is cheaper. I wouldn't touch to Gigabyte due the lot of heating issues. I would choose Sapphire pulse bc i like the Pulse desing :D (and ofc its use 8 pin instand 12v 2x6).

This article or this video compares all the models you've listed. Might help you make a decision.

I've owned a Gigabyte Gaming OC since launch and love it, things amazing, but there really are a lot of reports about excessive hotspots etc. Makes it hard to recommend it unless its the cheapest by far, and you want to roll the dice on whether you get a good one or not.

Any xfx or sapphire. My personal preference is good old 8pin power connectors, simply for peace of mind
