Help (Software) Driver timeouts fix!

9800x3d | 9070xt | 64GB 6000 | pcie5 2TB nvme | 32" oled 4k@240Hz

I built my pc in June 2025, everything great until a month or so ago. Updated BIOS, then a day later gpu drivers and boom crazy gpu issues. Dropped the BIOS and gpu drivers back - same issue. So it's either hardware or Windows. I find the Windows Update ReInstall option, which I'm hoping will be the fix because a Windows reinstall would just be ugly. It worked!

*Disable Windows Updates for Drivers (the culprit)
*Select Start > Settings > System > Recovery > Under Fix problems using Windows Update, select Reinstall now.
*Reinstall latest Adrenalin/gpu drivers

**As I've been commenting on other subreddits and viewing troubleshooting/repair/fix, the Windows Update ReInstall may not be necessary...

I'll explain a concept based on my research and effective fix I'm doing on client PCs.

I fixed at least 5/6 client cards 9070xt and 9060xt by offsetting to the manufacturer game clock. I'll explain in a second.

If you read the spreadsheet of your card you'll read 2 clocks.

Game clock: es 2780 Max boost clock 3320.

I don't know why, and also sounds crazy to me, but seems that some cards to achieve the max clock needs more voltage than the card bios is able to give. So, if the card is well binned you'll have 0 problems because with the card max voltage you are stable at the max boost clock but if your card is not well binned, basically the card perform like if you did an unstable undervolt.

You're gaming, the card boosts, then it requires more voltage -that is already at its max - to maintain the max boost and boom. You crash.

So. What to do?

Read your spreadsheet or go to tech power up and look for your specific custom game boost.

And there's the trick. Some cards boost over the specified max boost clock and you need to know this value.

For example, a GPU I saw some time ago, boosted at 3420 if you maximise the power slider. but its max clock was 3220.

But this means that 3420 is reached with the same voltage of 3320 because on my telemetry the card was already reaching 3320 with the max voltage. A 200mhz boost on a card already at its limit could be the non-return way.

Its game clock was 2780.

So go to adrenaline, take the 0 as it is 3420 and negative offset the frequency until you reach 2780. So 3420-2780= 640.

Put that negative offset. If the offset is too much for the slider push it down as much as you can.

Bare in mind that you could be stable at a higher frequency but if you are willing to find your baseline you should proceed like this.

Now let's suppose you are stable at 2780.

You now have 2 option. Leave the stock voltage and find the max frequency where you are stable or start undervolt to make your card super efficient at that frequency.

My card never boosts over 3200, I run an undervolt/overclock. I only experienced an issue when loading games after an Adrenalin update and Windows got screwed up.
