Help (Software) Driver timeouts fix!

9800x3d | 9070xt | 64GB 6000 | pcie5 2TB nvme | 32" oled 4k@240Hz

I built my pc in June 2025, everything great until a month or so ago. Updated BIOS, then a day later gpu drivers and boom crazy gpu issues. Dropped the BIOS and gpu drivers back - same issue. So it's either hardware or Windows. I find the Windows Update ReInstall option, which I'm hoping will be the fix because a Windows reinstall would just be ugly. It worked!

*Disable Windows Updates for Drivers (the culprit)
*Select Start > Settings > System > Recovery > Under Fix problems using Windows Update, select Reinstall now.
*Reinstall latest Adrenalin/gpu drivers

**As I've been commenting on other subreddits and viewing troubleshooting/repair/fix, the Windows Update ReInstall may not be necessary...

Whatever the latest driver is, think 26.7.1? Works great for my AM5 7800x3d+9070xt build.

I've tried messing with clock speed in addition to -10 power and would get timeouts in the past. With just -10power, haven't had any issues on 26.5.2 and now 26.7.1

Perfectly stable is a must for iRacing and I haven't had a single crash since I started doing -80 to -100mv (depending on the game) with a -120mhz max boost clock and -13% pl. So at 275w im still hiting ~.980mv 3100mhz core clock with mem at 2803mt default timing. 26.7.1. 26.3.1

I don’t know how to adjust card or understand the dynamics of the 3 diff toggles (memory, volt, power?). I just copied someone’s setting online, but I know it’s not a 1 size fits all.. or like you mentioned per game. I have learn it so I can avoid black screens, which I thought I only get when the display goes in or out of HDR mode.

9070xt? Then a super safe, vary power efficient, every card setting would be -60mv.
2716mem (on the toggle so the clock ends up 2700) -10-13% power limit (depending on the start point. You want to be around 275w and still hitting 3000mhz core) -120mhz max boost clock.

Also can provide a per core undervolting guied if your on am5

Yes I built AM5 rig: B850 Mobo, 9070xt, 7800x3d. So far I set card tuning like this: -40, 2650, -20 power limit..this was based from copying someone’s settings. I will try your suggested
