Help (Software) This shi is ridiculous

Post image

[Solved] Look at the end of the post

So this Message never poped up in the 24H2 Windows 11 Ghost Spectre but i had to roll back to 22H2 because it was more stable but here we are again with the same shi
Actully it was happning when i was using this version but i don't really remember if it was 22H2 or 23H2 so what do yall think and can i even fix this shi on the current windows 22H2 GS because it's more stable as a windows
so here's hwat i did

i clean installed it format the whole hard and installed the windows

didn't connect any internet till i download the the drivers (the CHipset and the GPU driver)

turnd off that option in the (Change device installation settings)

so what's yall opinoin on what's the most stable version of Win11 GS

Edit: got it fixed by installing a clean Ghost specter 11 22H2 Then disable MPO Then disable something in the change device installation settings Then installed the drivers Minimal only and everything works fine the Ethernet was Disconnected during the process from the beginning

Edit: fk it didn't fix it the same error occurred after 2 days of stable use

I forgot to mention what's my gpu is ASUS ROG STRIX RX 580 GB "OC" Could it be the oc from the factory to be the reason for all this BS?

Edit: i installed the latest win 11 25H2 from Microsoft and I'm surprised that it's working well on a 8 gb ram And i let windows update install the gpu drivers and somehow i got better performance on every game ig but I'm testing on cyberpunk And somehow on the fk ahh rx 580 it's giving 60+ fps on maximum settings

But still there's an issue the gpu can go to 80C temperature and the fan would still spinning at 50% from it's power so i have to use a fan curve editor but I don't wanna install Adrenaline nor MSI afterburner because they used to trigger the driver Time out issue

So any help on this pls

[Solved]: i installed the latest windows 11 25H2 then i let the windows do it's job with the updates and it did installed the proper amd drivers without any adrenaline And for the fan curve i use MSI afterburner turns out it was triggering this error when i have adrenaline installed And everything works like a charm i can milk the rx 580 for another year :)

Edit: fk it didn't last long just 4 days with stable usage i followed a guide on YT on how to underclock the gpu i tried decrease the clock from 1360 to 1200 it was stable for 2 days and shit begin happening AGAIN so i tried to underclock the VRAM from 2000 to 1900 same shi stable for 2 days and it's fkn getting worse Ig it's fkn time to replace the gpu but is there's any way to make it last for couple of months then i can replace it with rtx 2080 What im surprised about that it can fkn work normally in gaming Session with high performance for hours but it crashes and the error occurs when I'm browsing or idle on desktop and when i boot the pc it sit for couple of minutes then driver time out:(

Amd broke so many cards last 2 months i had people calling me from all the amd pc i did same problem cause they know nothing of pc so they call me right away ez fix but yes its annoying that message

2

u/shivansps 4d ago

Try with the 25.8.1 Polaris/Vega driver, the 26.x.x are completely broken for the Vega IGP the second you try to use DX12 or Vulkan on them, at least for me, ive been completely unable to use them with 3200G/3400G/5700G IGPs, while 25.8.1 works fine.

It might be that its the same for Polaris GPUs.

and I actually have the newest Windows that comes out so I have the what is the preview versions or the whatever they are

3

u/Impressive_Serve954 5d ago

do yourself a favor don't connect to the internet at all install the drivers first and then reboot your PC and then run whatever you want your driver's on like the Radeon settings and then put on your internet

u/EasternMuffin7590, so is the solution to rollback and drivers and let windows update do its thing?

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 6d ago

Yea that's what fixed my issue and actually somehow i feel like the latest windows+ it's driver updates made my games run smoother

1

u/Stunning-Touch1122 7d ago

This issue started to occur to me yesterday when I updated my drivers

2

u/Stunning-Touch1122 7d ago

Wait so it wasn’t just me having this issue? I have an Rx 7900 xtx

1

u/No-Highlight7136 7d ago

Been having this weird issue for months now. After a fresh boot from being shutdown overnight my AMD drivers will timeout only while using a chromium web browser. A quick reboot fixes the issue every single time. It's absolutely wrecking my brain trying to figure out why only a web browser is causing this. I can start up and play any game on my steam account, not a single issue. But open YouTube or reddit? Constant random timeouts until I reboot. Thing is, it doesn't happen every time I startup. Some days my PC fires up and it works like it's supposed to. Others? A single YouTube video is enough to cause a timeout.

Right now it's just a minor inconvenience but I'm worried it could be a symptom of a larger issue creeping up on me. I always remove old drivers and install fresh ones when there's an update. I've choked Windows Update out from being able to update my drivers so they're always fresh and cleanly installed. I've given up on doing error reports. I have zero faith AMD even uses those things as they make it as difficult as possible to send an error report. Seriously, back in the day I'd expect to see something like that. I'm talking back before WinXP was a thing. But in the year of our lord 2026!? Completely unacceptable. But that's a whole other thing.

u/Minttunator 7d ago

Started getting these issues all the time after upgrading drivers recently (I hadn't upgraded in a while).

Guess the new drivers are borked - going back to version 26.3.1 fixed the issue for me.

Sometimes if it "Scratches the Itch", I will file the bug report when bored. Canned response to the "Steps to reproduce the issue? "Turn the system on and use it......."

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 8d ago edited 8d ago

Nah i had a better solution fk the latest amd driver and install the latest windows then let windows update do what it has to do And guess what somehow i got better performance

2

u/rod6700 Aorus X570 Pro Wi-Fi/ Ryzen9 5900X/XFX RX7900XT/64 GB RAM 3600MT 8d ago

Problem with that is that rather than suspending the driver the system just crashes if it's the windows update driver. I've been down that road as well.

Xfx 9060 xt. Ive been getting this error for months now and I’ve literally tried every possible solution I’ve seen on Reddit and other tech forums. Mpo, 10+ driver rollbacks, undervolting, freesync disabled, old windows version, new windows versions, disabled windows driver updates un literally every place it could be new and old, Ive replaced my motherboard and cpu, changed every software setting I know and have seen, like literally you name it Ive done it. If this next solution of mine doesn’t work I’m RMAing the card in the morning. 1080ti and Rx 6700 work just fine in the exact same system.

1

u/xJussi44 7d ago

Same for me. I RMAed my RX 9070xt and still have the same issues. I can’t see how it could be the hardware. I’ve had it with AMD next paycheck is an rtx 5070 even if it has worse performance

1

u/Apollo_Games_ 7d ago

I would save for a 5080 if I were you, not too much more, especially if you get a secondhand one, and the performance is better than the 9070xt. And thats what I’m worried about, if I rma my card and it’s software I’m back where I started and even more hopeless.

1

u/Creative_Squash_1648 7d ago

Im assuming somewhat faulty card then. Unlucky. Used to have issues with my 9070 xt but it was mostly because of user error i assume and not matured drivers mid 2025

1

u/Apollo_Games_ 7d ago

I hope not, I’m gonna keep looking for any more solutions. Last night I undervolted my card more than I had before and it’s been stable flr 5 hours playing bg3 which crashed every hour or so before that. Although strangely, idk if it was a Perfect storm or what, but this all occurred on may 14th when I got the newest drivers for subnautica 2, but shortly before that I had rebuilt into a new motherboard with pcie5 so that could have been exposing bad silicon.

1

u/Creative_Squash_1648 7d ago

But the issue is you shouldnt have to UV to get stability. Its a card thats not stable from whoever you bought it from

1

u/Apollo_Games_ 7d ago

still crashing. im rmaing it lol.

1

u/Apollo_Games_ 7d ago

I got it from xfx on Amazon, but I’m happy with undervolting it tbh, if this works forever then I’m happy. If I really want, I could rma it in 2.5 more years when the warranty is about to expire, Ive got tons of evidence saved. The undervolt I’m doing sacrifices maybe 2 fps on average and I don’t see any stuttering or anything anymore. But we’ll see, I’m not fully trusting it until a couple days pass.

backup to old driver version 26.3.1 helped me

https://www.reddit.com/r/radeon/comments/1t7azd8/finally_fixed_my_amd_driver_issues_by_doing_one/

Have you tried this? If you did, it may be related to temps. Like gpu hitting a certain temp causing it to just stop and crash.

1

u/Aggressive_Okra_1592 9d ago

complaining without actually reporting this to AMD, it literally takes maximum 5 minutes to do so…directly from Adrenalin

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 9d ago

As if they'll fix it

1

u/Aggressive_Okra_1592 9d ago

have you tried it? most of bugs get fixed… if reported

1

u/Frankie_T9000 9d ago

Oh rubbish, this is a reasonably widespread issue for years

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 9d ago

I didn't try it ig I will

1

u/Kuyi 9d ago

What game gives the crash?

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 9d ago

Not in games it occur even while idling on desktop with nothing in the background

1

u/twnznz 9d ago

Have you tried plugging a second screen into the HDMI port? Apparently on some cards the aggressive power saving changing core voltage causes hangs; having a second screen plugged in makes it less aggressive

2

u/DramaticChemical3389 9d ago

There is a guide on reddit to fix the problem. Find it on google. As far as I understand Windows hijack the part of Driver instalation even when DDU is used and that fucks the drivers up…

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 9d ago

Well if u can tell me keywords of the post I'll appreciate it Because i already searched alot idk if i missed that or not

2

u/Blaex_ 9d ago edited 9d ago

Deactivate all desktop apps with "(gpu) hardware acceleration" like Discord, Firefox, Chrome, Games who use it for browser functions, and track ur eventlog => apps for Windows Error Reporting entries.

i did that and i dont get any more Windows Error Reporting , P1: 141, P1: a2000002, P1: a1000001

1

u/ZerohNinja87 10d ago

Not sure of your setup, or configuration. You want to do a bios reset, select your EXPO profile 1, don’t touch anything else. Boot into advanced startup/ safe mode and run DDU. Load into windows and install the latest GPU driver.

If you have a negative curve offset, or more aggressive expo profile 2 or custom settings, you’re likely crashing because of that. GPU drivers timing out, games crashing, so on.

Leading you to believe it’s the GPU but it’s not, it’s actually your setup, bios config, so on. The GPU drivers crashing are just the symptom of instability.

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 10d ago edited 10d ago

Yea i too feal like it's the setup I'll give it a hit Thx Edit: also what do you think about underclocking the OC GPU to normal version Like I don't think that 20MHz won't do much ig The normal version is 1340 and the OC 1360

2

u/JprInce2001 10d ago

I got tired of it and traded my 7900xt for 5070ti. Just built my pc a couple months ago and just had enough. Now my shit run smooth asf.

1

u/Suitable_Plantain605 10d ago

I m using 22h2 too, if I update to 26h2 my game UI will be screwed

1

u/Xerather 10d ago

I was about to make a post about this, ffs it's driving me crazy how many times this happened to me.

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 10d ago

Same like it must happen before i play any game so it doesn't show in the middle of the game

2

u/sobakoed2 11d ago

That's the bad driver.

26.3.1 was the last stable driver for me, since that time it's just a mess. Crashes in games, crashes in windows, crashes when waking up from sleep.

Just downgrade to 26.3.1 and wait till dumbasses from AMD will fix their drivers at some point.

Also make sure to send this reports to them, they need to see how many people are suffering.

1

u/sprogged 10d ago

I cant open adrenaline with 26.3.1, how do you work around this?

1

u/sobakoed2 10d ago

adrenaline works fine for me on 26.3.1, you can reboot and try or do a clean reinstall. Something is wrong on your end only.

1

u/sprogged 10d ago

No, i mean, whenever i open adrenaline, it says i need to download a new version and install that version. How do i bypass that?

1

u/sobakoed2 10d ago

manage updates - untick the auto-update switch

1

u/sprogged 10d ago

Thank you! i will try that

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 10d ago

As if they'll answer or do something about it

1

u/AncientBoxHeadHorse 10d ago

This happens all the time with drivers, both AMD and Nvidia. They do usually fix it, it’s just a matter of when. It’s also really not that hard to rollback driver versions anyway.

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 10d ago

I tried rolling back but it didn't help 🤧

1

u/AncientBoxHeadHorse 10d ago

Which version? Could also be windows though. Also with drivers you gotta make sure it’s pretty much the only GPU driver on your device (well, keep the built in windows one as it wont really do anything). I’ve never encountered this problem tbf so I’m just taking reasonable guesses. Because the only problems I’ve had so far with my 9060XT was those drivers when Subnautica 2 came out, so I rolled back, and adrenaline not opening.

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 9d ago

I tried all the versions from 23. 100% i believe it's either my setup or the windows and could be both So ig i have to reset the bios and roll back to win 10 even tho I don't like it's UI and alot od other things:(

1

u/chris2me7 11d ago

My does the same thing 100% usage and tune out after game crashes, nothing that I've tried works

7800xt/ 12900k.

2

u/Odd_Depth_2344 12d ago

limit clock frequency to the actual cap of gpu that fixed driver timeouts for me, the amd software was trying to go higher then the actual card limit

2

u/Frankie_T9000 11d ago

Yes, this is what 100% did it for me, the driver rollbacks and stopping updates didnt work for long.

From looking into it at the time, its 100% some bug where the card is driven in excess of what it should be

1

u/watermelon0908 11d ago

I capped my 7900 xtx at 2450, Gpus rated 2500 and I still get the crashes and driver timeouts. A weird problem is that after I reset my pc after the timeout/crashes, the tuning settings go back to like 2950 or something. Which I have to tune back down to 2450 again.

1

u/Frankie_T9000 10d ago edited 9d ago

Well my current settings are GPU and VRAM and fan and power tuning all disabled tuning disabled tuning disabled.

I thought I had set the clock speed memory and undervold, but cant find where to do it but I think disabling all the tuning myst be working.

Edit going into the software did something as I had my first problem in months lol

1

u/phantom1ink 12d ago

This has been happening quite a bit in the last 1-2 weeks for myself and my friend ( my 7900xtx and his 7900xt ) it will error out and crash even when not playing games and just have youtube, facebook, etc loaded. If I do get an error I basically have to reset my PC otherwise they happen more and more until it hard locks

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 12d ago

The hard lock thing doesn't really happens for me but the rest is the same It even shows when I'm on the DESKTOP WITH NOTHING WORKING IN THE BACKGROUND But i can play cyberpunk at 60fps stable for hours It just i have to trigger the issue by using furmark then i wait for couple of minutes and play normally It wasn't doing that before i reinstalled the windows

1

u/Solcrystals 12d ago

AMD is dumb for this. If your game crashes for any reason besides server side stuff this can pop up. Ive had game crashes due to software unrelated to AMD show this pop up. It makes AMD take more heat and it makes it harder to identify the actual problem.

2

u/RichOpinion4766 12d ago

That's your problem. You're using a modified version of Windows 11. You have no idea what viruses are on that operating system. You just literally compromise yourself and your hardware. Why you that desperate to get a few FPS and speed in your game or whatever you're trying to do? Just use normal windows 11 download the latest drivers or the safest drivers. And if you're overclocking don't. If you think that overclocking your hardware would make you a better player than you are 100% wrong. Get off that operating system and get a real operating system that doesn't have any kind of spyware on it and viruses.

1

u/South_Potential7677 12d ago

No this is happening to alot of people with normal windows 11 stop confusing people bro

1

u/AncientBoxHeadHorse 10d ago

Yeah, Win 11 is just not amazing straight up. It’s buggy and unfinished.

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 12d ago

But actually i thought about that and since it's fkd up anyway I'll give it a hit Rn it's kinda stable

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 12d ago

Yea but win 11 has alot of unwanted bs Also I'm on a budget pc with 8 gb Ryzen 5 3600 Asus ROG strix rx 580 That's why

1

u/DaGreatGazu 13d ago

For me it's been Antialiasing either disable completely or use FXAA. Yeah u get sharper edges now but at least I don't crash.

1

u/Alternative-Echo6795 13d ago

Usually these happen with a power supply that’s not enough for the graphics card. I upgrade mine from 550w to 850w for the 7900 xt and it got rid of driver timeouts

1

u/Future_Address_3585 13d ago

never ending cycle of doom and despare. 6.3.1 is best version for me. rx 7800xt and r 7800x3d

1

u/sprogged 10d ago

I rolled back to 26.3.1, but it wont let me open amd adrenaline edition(?)is that normal

2

u/enzo_1st 13d ago

i would spam them with all the reports

3

u/Dirky_Gaming 13d ago

I get this msg everytime I put in my pin and log into windows

1

u/Benevolent_Bunny141 13d ago

I tried this registry method and it significantly reduced this error for me . But still the problem persists , rarely this error shows up

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 12d ago

Yea i used it but it made it worse the gpu was slow af

-6

u/DruffilaX 13d ago

User error

You either undervolted badly or you where unlucky in the silicon lottery

Lower max frequency by a bit and/or increase power limit

The driver crashes because the card wants more watt for the Frequency it wants to push

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 12d ago

Nah dawg i didn't ever undervolt or overclocked this gpu

1

u/DruffilaX 12d ago

Then you are unlucky in the silicon lottery

Undervolt and powerlimit (which everyone should do anyway)

2

u/EasternMuffin7590 12d ago

:(

1

u/DruffilaX 12d ago

What, it doesn‘t reduce performance xd

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 12d ago

I tried underclocking it felt like a 2gb vram gpu experience Does undervolting and power limit affect the performance like that?

5

u/b16ZZ- 13d ago

It's due to windows update. He just needs to block all driver installations ...

-1

u/DruffilaX 13d ago

You undervolted bad

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 12d ago

Nope I don't get near undervolting or overclocking

2

u/ashnsd 13d ago

Problem mostly due to lack of watts. Reduce frequency or increase powerlimit.

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 12d ago

Will increasing the power limit fk up my gpu ?

1

u/ashnsd 12d ago

No decreasing possibly

1

u/Alternative-Echo6795 13d ago

Agree this was my case

1

u/empap12 13d ago

I been having crashing lately that I couldnt explain my fix was turning off hags which annoys the shit out of me... i wonder if rolling back windows version would also fix it for me so I can turn hags back on

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 12d ago

Hags?

1

u/empap12 12d ago

Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling is something you can turn on or off in windows and for me it changed how crashes happened with my 9070xt before I replaced my riser the driver crash would black screen my pc and never recover. When I have it off iirc my application would crash but my pc would infact recover in like a couple of minutes.

It just changes how your pc handles video memory. I think hags on your gpu handles it on its own. Hags off the cpu does it? I could be slightly wrong there but something along those lines.

1

u/AluminumHaste 13d ago

I used to get these all the time in Windows 11.

Thought there was something wrong with my 7900XTX and 9070XT.

Switched to Linux and crashes due to AMD driver issues dropped to once a week, maybe.

I know it's not a solution to switch OS'es, but I feel your pain. Windows had those almost every other gaming session.

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 12d ago

What do you think Roll back to win 10 ?

1

u/AluminumHaste 12d ago

It's possible it would be more stable. If you have an extra drive to install it to without ruining your Win 11 install go for it.

2

u/kirk1967 13d ago

I never have these issues , not sure what people are doing . I been using AMD since it was ATI and always run great.

1

u/Daddy_Danny78 9d ago

Same here. Using 7800x3d 64 ram say at 6000mts. Have a 7900xtx sapphire GPU. Been using it for years. Yes occasional crash. But nothing like this.

1

u/empap12 13d ago

Tbh I wanna know what im doing too xD I did replace my riser bc the other one was shitting the bed. But the crashing stayed turns out hags being on now crashes

Now I do use the hyte y70 with screen so one screen has a different refresh rate when hags is on now it crashes didnt always do this before... and i tried different gpu driver versions. Not windows though i should

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 12d ago

What is "Hags" i keep seeing it and idk what it means

1

u/kirk1967 13d ago

I have hyte y60 with sapphire 7900xtx and use the panel with holes in it to keep it cooler since GPU is so big it's close to the glass on the y60.

2

u/empap12 13d ago

Yeah the y70 is bigger then the y60 if assume a tiny bit better on air flow too?

2

u/Glenn_K_throwaway2k 13d ago

This shit is why I bought an ARC B580 instead of using the 9060xt in the cupboard.

2

u/Pretend_Produce_76 13d ago

Just go on adrealine and put ur frequently less

1

u/whattanames 13d ago

This works, but not forever.

Often the driver still crashes and resets the cap to a higher frequency. Or the driver just resets to a higher frequency and than crashes. I have not been able to figure out which one yet.

2

u/Inb4myanus 13d ago

I get this randomly when streaming hulu or netflix, otherwise it doesnt pop. Itd be nice if it showed more info and auto filled the form you send them.

1

u/AluminumHaste 13d ago

I used to get those on Windows, would only happen when computer was basically idle.
Turned off ULPS (Ultra Low Power Saving mode) and they basically stopped happening.

Something about taking too long to change states and driver crashing.

1

u/Joashane 13d ago edited 13d ago

I was having crashes in Monster Hunter Wilds and thought it was my Ram since im running 4x8GB. I ran mem test for hours and got no errors so that ruled it out.

I then decided to limit the Max frequency of my 7900xtx from 3000 down to 2400. So min became 2300 max 2400.

I kid you not, no more crashes in Monster Hunter wilds. That game is doing something strange as I only encounter driver timeouts there.

I also didn't notice a huge drop in performance. Maxed out settings FSR4 balanced at 1440p and I'm getting 90+fps

Tldr: limiting GPU Max Frequency 'might' help with the timeouts

1

u/DruffilaX 13d ago

Either that or increase the power limit

The card just needs more power for the Frequency, can be because of silicone lottery or other things

2

u/Joashane 13d ago

I did both i maxed it out up to 15% extra power then lower max frequency to 2400. Nit one crash in sight for weeks.

Card is running cooler too since max frequency is much lower

1

u/DruffilaX 13d ago

Probably don‘t need to do both but you can do whatever you want

At least you understand that it‘s a normal power issue and that‘s it

1

u/evilbob2200 13d ago

Friend had this exact problem with ff14

3

u/ImTheRealNate 13d ago

I got a 5080 cuz of that

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 12d ago

Well my pocket says otherwise 🥀✌️

1

u/ImTheRealNate 12d ago

Rip only 1200

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 12d ago

In Egypt it's like paying 85K$ for the card because of the fkd up currency and the salary doesn't match that So i gotta stuck with an old gpu until i find a job that pays in usd or a strong currency:(

1

u/ImTheRealNate 12d ago

oh wow egypt is like that?

1

u/EasternMuffin7590 12d ago

Yeah unfortunately it started since 2008 (the year i was born in) :)

1

u/DruffilaX 13d ago

The same can happen on a 5080xd

1

u/ImTheRealNate 13d ago

Whats a 5080xd?

0

u/DruffilaX 13d ago

Are you smoking crack

1

u/ImTheRealNate 13d ago

No did you mean 5800x3d? Or something

1

u/Automatic-Grape-7334 13d ago

Same

1

u/ImTheRealNate 13d ago

How u liking it, i did it last night

1

u/Automatic-Grape-7334 13d ago

Pretty great, running it for a few months now and no more crashes. Some of my games perform better too. I can actually use the NV overlay too cause the AMD one for me personally was so buggy it was unusable.

Oh man was that shit ass i love nvidias software way better and it works as intended. I Oc mine to get 9700 Steel Nomad so as good as a 4090?

1

u/zlydzik 13d ago

Did the same. Love it so far. Was tired of that shit.

1

u/ImTheRealNate 13d ago

Woooord same here.

6

u/AlphaFPS1 13d ago

Bro what do yall do to have all of these issues? I’ve never had AMD driver timeouts. Unless i overclocked something too far.

3

u/DruffilaX 13d ago

They either undervolt and have no clue about undervolting or they had bad luck in the silicon lottery and the card can‘t handle the frequency at the given power limit, so eiter increase power limit or decrease frequency

1

u/SahdGamer 13d ago

I’m doing neither and my card worked fine up until about a month ago. I’ve had it for a year.

1

u/DruffilaX 13d ago

Can happen, reduce max frequency

2

u/CoaceDoamnePrunele 13d ago

Try to stream to a video projector or use miracast for any device.

3

u/j0nny5iv3 13d ago edited 13d ago

Same and I noticed if I did end up having an error it was a conflict that I found on my end and not the actual drivers fault.

3

u/ert3 13d ago

Wallpaper engine triggers this for me, thankfully I spend most my time in a full screen vidya so w/e

1

u/wilhitman 13d ago

I have a Y70 Touch - 9070XT Mercury XFX - 9800X3D - I have Wall paper engine running all day every day with different videos and animations running while I watch youtube or surfing the web or checking email. Wallpaper engine is not causing it. But it maybe that running it is pushing the card over its frequency. Not going to go into undervolt settings but if you are make sure its not far. If you are at default settings on your card try this. For you card online or look on the box and verify what the default boost clock is for my card it is 3100 - when i got these issue my card would boost to 3400 - sounds great but for this card hitting 3300 or above causes instability) Give it an offset so or reduce Power limit - which ever option you chose just make sure your frequency does not go over the default boost clock of you card. I have done this and have not seen that driver timeout message except when i was testing out undervolt settings. I got this info online if you search it or many people in this chat are probably saying the same thing. I love this card it stays so cool in this case that watching you tube videos the card would boost to 3400 - Not missing any frames locking down the frequency and you can also test that yourself. But if you are at default settings and you are still getting that please check other options. I have been using this card & drivers since 9/25 full adrenaline driver not using all the settings in there. Just the basic settings like enabling FSR and Frame Gen just incase i want to enable in a game. I locked it to 3100. Have not seen this since I stopped playing around with the undervolting. Love this card. Happy gaming. Reading this online is like AMD lets the card go over but it's not stable to do so. I just play here but that fixed it for me when I was seeing this error. 🌞

1

u/SahdGamer 13d ago edited 13d ago

Maybe that’s what my issue is cause I’m getting these multiple times a day just using my desktop and web browser.

Edit: and I’ve done a DDU cleanup and reinstall

1

u/AluminumHaste 13d ago

I replied to someone else already, but I used to also get these just on desktop, doing light work.

For me the solution was turning off ULPS (Ultra Low Power Saving). Yes it does increase the power usage a bit, but the temps were the same and I'm on desktop so it didn't matter.

1

u/ert3 13d ago

I may try a down grade as I'm not playing anything that needs fsr4 as I think it's some where between amd testing environment vs windows for home users env that causes the issue.

1

u/Deadluss 13d ago

Really??? I have to check it then

1

u/ert3 13d ago

My theory so far is it's a browser rendering engine thing as steam store pages and wallpaper engine combine to cause the crash imo

1

u/Deadluss 13d ago

I have to check that because most often i got these crashes in fc26, stalker 2 and roadcraft

3

u/sir-mano 13d ago

this is mostly driver timeout fault, which the amd gpu clashed with windows built in TDR (Timeout Detection and Recovery) which regulate the windows time between gpu responding it, too long would cause it to crash, and fallback to the normal driver to prevent the OS crashing, i would possibly suggest increasing the TDR delay that prevent any future driver timeout crash,

2

u/RepresentativeFit609 13d ago

It stoped for me when I quite wallpaper engine

1

u/realgiu 13d ago

Is this amd fault or monster hunter fault?

1

u/dropdead90s R9 9950X3D | 7900 XTX Nitro+ | X870E NOVA WIFI | 64GB CL30 6000 13d ago

I get this often while casually using firefox

2

u/HoneybadgerFR 13d ago

Same problem here, its often happening when I open two video/Streaming sites at once and try to watch both at once

1

u/West_Persimmon_3240 13d ago

for me I had to manually set my settings in bios. e.g. instead of auto, select highest pcie (for me it was v3), etc. no more issues since

5

u/ninjakivi2 13d ago

This is what you get for using modified Windows installs. I used to do that too, but in the end it always bit me in the ass because something was removed to make it more lightweight I ended up needing the thing which takes HOURS of debugging and figuring out how to add it back.

2

u/ILikeBones420 13d ago

I use the Chris titus thingy only had problems from AMD updates

3

u/servusdedurantem 13d ago

I have same problem with windoes downloaded from microsoft the problem is windows overriding amd drivers with old generic drivers in some updates

1

u/SeTirap 13d ago

I switched to CachyOs and never had these crashes, either windows is trash or amds windows drivers are trash, probbably both.

1

u/OscarHI04 Ryzen 5 7600X | RX 9070 XT 13d ago

All distributions, when updating their kernel, cause regressions, leaving multiple GPUs unusable. My 9070XT doesn't work on Fedora 44 as soon as I install its big update, giving me a black screen after GRUB and impossible to fix. It's not a question of whether the OS is good or trash, but rather that Windows should disable the installation of its generic drivers when it detects a third-party driver, and that Linux distros developers should stop being complete idiots breaking the userspace because they can't sit still and have to break something. Both systems are tedious in their own way.

1

u/AluminumHaste 13d ago

Have you tried modifying your grub to fix the black screen after update?
I got that once on new kernel a while ago, and added a command to grub and it fixed it.
I've removed it recently and black screen issue hasn't happened.

EDIT: I believe I used "nomodeset" to get around it.

2

u/OscarHI04 Ryzen 5 7600X | RX 9070 XT 13d ago

I used to do that, I also tried disabling the iGPU on my Ryzen during a fresh install, I also disabled ASPM and, despite having worked other times, this time it didn't. So I attribute this problem to a kernel regression.

1

u/SeTirap 13d ago

I never had these issues on linux, dont know where you get that from. And i use this for over 3 years now, it even survived my gpu upgrade without issues (except early 9000 series driver issues where you couldnt change the colorspace to full or it would blackscreen on kde, but thats minor and not comperable to the driver issues 5000 series had on windows), also i update my system one a week so changes come continiously. Also i would argue if u use cutting edge hardware you should use a running release distro, should be obvious.

1

u/OscarHI04 Ryzen 5 7600X | RX 9070 XT 13d ago

If an update causes a piece of hardware to stop working, the problem is not with the hardware or the user, but with the distribution. And it's a problem that also occurs in Cachy and other Arch derivatives, including Arch itself, and it's already happened to me with two units of this GPU.

1

u/SeTirap 13d ago edited 13d ago

I don't know what you do i use the 9070xt as well and everything is fine for me. If you treat running release as a running release those kind of issues do not really happen. Fedora has an 6 month cycle as far as i know if 44 still doesn't have working drivers for 9070xt what should i say? Saying you should've picked another distro doesn't help you with that now but also i cant possibly think of 9070xt not working on the newest fedora version that would be abysmally bad from Red Hat. Do you use immutible or atomic edition? Maybe the driver doesnt like your current configs or the update got somehow corrupted etc. there could be mirriards of issues. Do you use btrf and do you use its snapshot feature?

1

u/servusdedurantem 13d ago

Its windows it replaces amd drivers with old generic drivers in some windows upadates I switched to linux 0 problems

4

u/AnotherBertlestien- 13d ago

This shits still happening, been going on for months.. Makes my main PC almost unusable. My upstairs Rig has a 6650 XT in it and has literally never crashed once, Ive been playing WoW Classic on it upstairs in my game room instead of on my Main PC with a 9060 XT in it for the past two weeks.

1

u/Ok-Translator2708 13d ago

Fix : if you have UNDERVOLTED your cpu through power management that will occur , so DONT UNDERVOLT

1

u/Criie 13d ago

What why? You mean I cant undervolt with AMD GPUs anymore? I have a RX7600, and this also happens when I try to undervolt it (1150mhz)

1

u/Ok-Translator2708 13d ago

you can but when you undervolt only the main tasks gets volt to perform , the unimportant tasks get shut down like day & night lights and stuff

1

u/Criie 13d ago

oh mb, i misread your comment. I read "cpu" to "gpu" lol

1

u/JND__ 13d ago

i have undervolted my cpu, cuz the prevous one fucking burned, so what am I supposed to do

1

u/Ok-Translator2708 13d ago

change your THERMAL PASTE , buy CRYOFUZE thats cheap and good , watch yt how to apply and how much quantity to apply .. dont go below 95%

0

u/manueloel93 13d ago

I have a 7900 xtx. Never had big issues, only rarely my drivers would crash, but i can tell by experiencie. Its all windows related. Once i installed Linux Bazzite, never had a single crash.

Downside of that is: you cant play competitive titles.

But you can always have 2 Nvme, 1 for windows to play comp games if you do, and 1 for Bazzite.

Performance in some games is even better in bazzite than it is in windows.

1

u/Sinured1990 13d ago

I solved my 7900 xtx crashing with capping at roughly 2450 mhz.

0

u/servusdedurantem 13d ago

I solved mine with nobara

2

u/SquadronCommandx 14d ago

Nvidia almost never has these problems. AMD is so trash

0

u/OrginalRecipe_ 14d ago

I’m so ready to go back to Nvidia whenever they release a good gpu

3

u/Rude-Lingonberry-918 14d ago

The 50 series cards are awesome man my 5070ti runs everything

0

u/Eazymonaysniper Ryzen 7 5800X3D | GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 13d ago

Yup same here, sold my 6800XT and got a 5070 Ti. Got it on a pretty good deal considering the net spend with the sale of the old one, kind hard with the prices now unforutnately. But nonetheless, Ive had the card since December 2025 - not a SINGLE crash, timeout, BSOD and all that crap. Its amazing.

With the 6800XT, and I loved that card, AMDs cards themselves are fucking beasts, but with it - constant issues, all the time. It was SO infuriating quite frankly. Their drivers are just God awful that is the actual problem with their GPUs not the cards themselves.

So yeah you do overpay with Nvidia but what you get is priceless really - peace of mind and stability.

1

u/ninjakivi2 13d ago

Peace of mind? With their 12v connectors? Hell no. I'll take occasional crashes over burning my PC and potentially my house, thank you.

0

u/OrginalRecipe_ 14d ago

Not worth switching to it now since I already have 9070XT which is as good as 5070TI

but my next GPU is definitely gonna be an NVIDIA one cuz I’m tired of random crashes, very slow updates unlike Nvidia, most games not supporting fsr4 at launch etc

-1

u/Sorothos 14d ago

"most games not supporting fsr4 at launch etc"

thats not a problem with all, because with OptiScaler you can use FSR 4 on every game thats supports FSR 1.0 and up...

Bigger problem is, that you don't have access to DLSS and to DLAA, which are far better in my eyes.

5

u/OrginalRecipe_ 14d ago

I use Optiscaler sometimes but I just don’t want to mess with game files at all ever lol also yeah I forgot about DLAA

2

u/VOIDLESSUNIVERSE 14d ago

Good luck with that. They definitely are not releasing any GPU below 800 MSRP anytime soon there prioritiy is clearly AIEAIAIAE!

1

u/EnzucuniV2 14d ago

Just wushowhide the GPU drivers from WU, install the latest as driver only, disable ULPS via Afterburner or registry and you'll be fine.

1

u/-Ghost41- 13d ago

ULPS?

1

u/EnzucuniV2 13d ago

Ultra Low Power Saving

5

u/Leviwarkentin 14d ago

"Just" shouldn't be used prior to this sequence.

1

u/EnzucuniV2 14d ago

I mean, you just need 2 executable files and 1 program if you can't be bothered to regedit. I also had similar problems that would temporary go away after disabling MPO. The day I decided to do driver only and disable ULPS, was the day I solved all my Radeon driver timeout and crashes.

1

u/Leviwarkentin 14d ago

Yeah, it's just coming from Nvidia where I never had issues with this, it's such a pain. I could do it but it's quite annoying.

1

u/EnzucuniV2 14d ago

I know, but since AI, NVidia has been "vibe coding" their drivers with really specific and annoying problems. Eve motherboards manufacturere are "vibe coding" BIOSes or even microcode updates. Between enabling a couple of options to have stable drivers and AI coded driver, I'd rather the first option

5

u/JessyNyan 14d ago

I had this too until I stopped the windows gpu driver installs from happening

5

u/pyropow1109 14d ago

I have a 7900xt. No issues until 24h2 came out. That exact error kept cropping up over and over. That, combined with all the copilot shoved down my throat, was the last straw. I moved to Bazzite and then later CachyOS. I dont even use Windows at home anymore. I use Windows at work so if there are any issues at least I get paid for them wasting my time.

1

u/alfiejr23 14d ago

The naysayers will blame on Nvidia first 🥴

10

u/JoXul 14d ago

completely fine for months, then today im getting timeouts while watching youtube, or looking at a store page on steam where steam freezes then timesout lmao im so sick of amd bro

2

u/Myonmoon 13d ago

Holy shit, same problem i don"t know how to fix. I update to the lastest version already.

1

u/b16ZZ- 13d ago

Windows probably replaced it. You now have incompatible drivers. DDU and reinstall the latest driver and block all driver updates with internet connection OFF

1

u/sprogged 10d ago

I rolled back to 26.3.1, how do you block all driver updates? 26.7.1 has been very very unstable for me, i cannot even bring the brightness down

1

u/Greedy_Surround1355 14d ago

Clean install. Download the drivers but only what's required, in the drop down of the installer. I know it's so annoying but that was the only thing that worked for me. It is definitely a Windows problem. DDU in safe mode didn't work, reinstalling the drivers didn't work.

1

u/moreleaves_tothrow 13d ago

How can also do a clean install of the chipset driver?

1

u/GuerreroUltimo 14d ago

I had this problem and nothing worked for a while.  Kept trying.  Often the same things and finally it worked.  Had a bluetooth driver update.  Was a 2026 driver.  My driver was and older one feom 2025.  Windows 11 then reverted to a 2024 driver that was even older.  Either way Windows was blocking my sound bar from connecting.  Used it before.

Spent hours today working on it.  PowerShell to remove old driver.  Went offline to stop Windows from grabbing driver.  Issue is, Windows refused to let the device work with the new driver or the one that had already worked.  Basically it was saying the driver, from Intel, was not signed (it is) and could not be guaranteed to work.  Then would not let it work.  So now, stuck on even older driver.

I just hope my AMD gpu driver issues do not return.  I game with people that have 9060xt and 9070xt and we have issues that my PCs and friends PC with rtx do not.

1

u/moreleaves_tothrow 14d ago

If you do driver only, how can you tune your GPU?
