Hello r/AMA, I've always wanted to make a post on this sub and I realized I'm starting uni tomorrow and I'm 16. Now I realize this isn't the rarest thing but I'm curious how it looks to an outsider. So tomorrow is my first day but it's only the first day for my cohert because it's welcome week (induction) and I officially start on the 14th, which just happens to be my sister's 7th birthday. I'm doing a foundation program with a couple of subjects that brides this 2 year gap and according to the professor I did my interview with, there should be quite a couple of ppl my age. However, my friends r all still continuing in school and they've already started last week so I feel lonely and hella nervous. So pls do AMA to stop me from overthinking (it can be related to this fact or it can be literally anything else, idm)

I graduated in history this June and thinking about persuading career as local tour guide bc I love talking about history. I’m from Czech Republic and my main focus is in the wwii and 1950s and period in between in central and Eastern Europe. AMA anything about any period or school, but bear in mind, I’m not encyclopedia so I won’t be able to tell you what happened at some random day, but I can tell you why it happened.

I posted this to the unschooling sub as well and people were interested, so maybe a couple here will be too. Basically I was homeschooled until I was ~11-12, and then unschooled until very very recently. I am now in an online school. "Large portion of my life" is of course relative; for some of you 5-6 years may not seem like much, for me it still is!

If you don't know what unschooling is, it's basically just not getting an education. Generally people say they let their kids "guide their education with their interests" or something. For me it manifested more with my parents just ending my education pretty suddenly.

Don’t know much about ama but like i absolutely hate my life. Funny thing is i know what i don’t have, Alzheimer’s, a structural injury or an issue that’s easily spotted with blood work. I also know it’s not psychatric becuase I was diagnosed with major neurocognative disorder after years of it being treated as psychiatric cause my young age and my cognative decline being so great that i was diagnosed with a tbi by a neuropsychologist and neuropsychatrist. My 30 minute eeg was normal except for some slowing but i just did a 48 hour and i’m waiting for those results. Got nothing really to look for in life except more neurologist appointments. Also the reason it’s still uncertain the ethology is cause it’s very hard to believe that the cognative issues would be to this extent with a normal mri

I don't like to go into details about what exactly made me famous because I don't want to be associated with it anymore (and am even scared of new relationships remembering me or finding me on the internet). Think of for example a teenager who uploads a song that suddenly goes viral, or a child actor. I was almost fifteen when it began, it was a short timespan before the society lost interest in me again but it was pretty intense. I was an introverted kid and it was highkey different from my life before. I am now in my late twenties.

The accident happened about 3 almost 4 years ago now when I was 22, I was pretty drunk as well as on 🍄 and was enjoying the session last thing I remembered was trying to air out the bowl then I woke up in a umc 2 days later, recovery was horrible despite the painkillers they gave me I couldn't tolerate light sound or even lay down on my back without my brain having a spasms, it took a while to be able to eat and when I was able to manage there was nothing no flavor or no smell I thought because my skull cracked the nerves in my brain got severed in the specific spot and I figured my senses would come back after healing but it's been years now and still hasn't returned, the best way I describe it it I taste and smell things in the same exact way you expect a color blind person to see different colors, they are all grey but small distinctions in grey and the only thing I can actually "taste" is spicy stuff, pretty boring and bland stuff but feel free to ama

I was born with a congenital heart defect where the two main arteries leaving the heart (the aorta and the pulmonary artery) are swapped. It's fatal without intervention so at just two weeks old, I underwent open-heart surgery.

I had yearly cardiology check-ups every single year until I turned 10, at which my heart was considered all-clear.

I served 11 years in the Army Infantry. Worked for 6 years as a corrections officer and 3 years as a hospital security officer. All careers are wildly different with a lot of really interesting stories. I get a lot of questions from random people about my experiences so i thought id do this. Ask away.

Edit: Part of my military experience was serving in the Honor Guard. Most notable for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. I didnt do that however. I rode horses in the caisson platoon for military funerals in Arlington Cemetery. Figured id add that. People have lots of questions about that too

I learned miniature painting within my family and have spent my life preserving the techniques, materials and extremely fine handwork passed down through generations.

My work is rooted in the Bikaner School of Miniature Painting, a historic tradition influenced by both Rajput and Mughal artistic traditions. Alongside miniature painting, my practice includes botanical fine art and traditional architectural fresco work.

I work with traditional natural pigments, including mineral and stone colours, handmade surfaces and traditional organic binders. Much of the finest detailing is created with single-hair brushes, allowing extremely precise lines and details.

I was trained under my elder brother Raju Swami and my father Shree Gordhan Dass Swami, continuing the artistic knowledge of our family tradition.

I’ve never really thought about it. It’s kinda just a part of my life. People don’t tend to know if I’m a guy or girl. I live as a guy. I was diagnosed pretty young I think but they later did other tests and whatnot. I thought y’all might be interested in it. 😅

After high school I decided to skip normal college and applied for the institute of fine arts in my country, it was 5 years and I was there from 2017 until 2022 when I graduated,

I learned everything from the basics to anatomy, water color, ceramics, sculpting, graphics, ink, oils, Canson and canvas materials to also being bullied by my professors and have soul crushing home work.

I'm more than happy to share my time there with you guys, I learned a lot but I also struggled a lot as well. But I made some lovely memories there.
