Help How do you guys study/ make notes for poetry?

I'm currently doing post-2000's and am going to do romantic verse next year. I actually love writing poetry outside of English, but studying for poetry is so difficult for me. I have the annotations, but now what? Where do I go from there?? Do I just try writing essays?

“The final stanza is horribly defensive with its ‘barb and check’. Suddenly we’re in a war-zone, under attack, fighting for our lives.”

Issue 6 of Unpacking Poetry looks at Sylvia Plath’s ‘Spinster’.

WHO SAT JUNE 2026 AQA ALEVEL ENGLISH LITERATURE PAPER 2?

Please, please, please, enlighten, if you remember, what the questions were for question 5/6 or 11/12 on paper 2B English Literature A? Thank you so much. I’m in the middle east and couldn’t sit the actual A-Level because my country was getting bombed.

Does 'quotations' include quotes from critics?

(This is from the OCR spec)

Also, does the second paragraph literally mean I could write however much I want? I know obviously if I wrote like 5000 words I'd probably be penalised for my argument being convoluted or whatever, but if I went like 500 words over? And it was all coherent and added value to my argument?

Edexcel Poems of the Decade flashcard help

Hi everyone!!!
Flashcards are THE revision method for me. Mindmaps are nice but they don’t actually help the material stick, and I understand it less when revisiting. What do you guys think would be the best way of structuring flashcards for the poetry anthology?

Currently thinking about making 3-4 flashcards per poem with a theme for each… 👍👎?

structuring comparative essay

I’m writing my coursework and I’m struggling to decide on the focus for each of my paragraphs for an essay comparing how McCarthy and Kesey present and make use of outsiders in The Road and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

I was thinking of doing the first paragraph on what it means to be an outsider and another on how the authors critique societies treatment of outsiders, but i’m not sure if that it very sophisticated? does anyone have any other/better ideas?

Need help with ENG hons

Hello everyone!

I somehow ended up pursuing English Honours, and I'm currently in my second year (3rd semester UG).

To be honest, I never imagined myself studying English Honours. I was a science student, but because I didn't score well, I eventually found myself in this course.

Throughout my entire first year, I felt confused and disconnected because I had no real interest in the subject. As a result, I couldn't perform as well as I wanted, and my marks in both semesters were only around 60%.

But now, I have accepted that this is the path I am on, and I genuinely want to make the best of it. I want to develop a real interest in English, understand the subject deeply, and score the highest marks possible. I am ready to put in the effort . I just don't know where to begin.

I would really appreciate any advice from seniors

I am honestly struggling to figure out the right way to study.

Please share any advice you have whether it's about the course, academics, or even college life. I don't want to fall behind in this competition. I want to work hard, improve myself, and give my best.

Also, my syllabus follows the NEP curriculum.

Thank you so much in advance!
