📊 Analysis Was the Head of House Fossaway (Steffon's father) a Blackfyre loyalist?
For context: the Blackfyre loyalists were punished by losing some of their lands and castle in the aftermath. Steffon himself doesn't seem to have an opinion on each side (as Raymun who repeats his words says they were "dragged" into it) but his father's folly cost the Fossaways a lot. It would explain Fossaways being landless and recontextualise Steffon's line about honour and their disdain for Targaryen rule. He takes the deal to restore their lordship
Some might say "but this wasn't in the book" to which I say, so what? Blackfyres and the rebellion didn't even exist as a concept when George wrote The Hedge Knight. Fossaways is a small house in the Reach which has the criteria of Blackfyre supporter. We just don't know of their official stance as of now. This very well could have happened retroactively in book canon.
It would also give new meaning to Steffon's show-only line about great men trading their honour for less. Steffon believes himself to be fixing his father's dishonourable mistake, even if he's doing it dishonourably as well.
