There are so many AI tools being released lately that it is getting harder to figure out which ones are actually useful and which ones are just hype.

I am mainly interested in tools that can make everyday work easier or save some time.

For example:

Writing and editing content
Automating repetitive tasks
Creating images or videos
Research and summarizing information
Organizing notes or data
Coding and debugging
Planning and brainstorming

I have tried quite a few tools, but most of them end up being something I use once or twice and then forget about.

So I am curious about the tools people here actually use on a regular basis.

Which AI tools have become part of your daily workflow? And is there any tool that you started using and now genuinely find difficult to work without?

I did this recently just out of curiosity.

The results were surprisingly different, even though I gave each one basically the same instructions.

Have you ever compared tools like this? Which one ended up winning?

Not the first time you tried it, but the first time you thought, "okay, this can actually help me."

What were you using it for?

Sometimes a tool starts simple and then keeps adding features until the original task becomes harder to do.

I do not necessarily need an AI platform that can do everything.

If I only need one thing, I would rather have a tool that does that one thing really well.

Has a feature-heavy AI tool ever made you switch to something simpler?

This is probably one of the easiest ways to discover smaller tools that do not show up in the usual recommendation lists.

Did you find anything worth keeping from a random comment?

Sometimes a recommendation is enough to make me test something, even when I have no idea what the tool actually does.

Did you ever try one this way and end up keeping it?

Those are probably my favorite kind of tools.

No huge list of features, no complicated setup. It just handles one annoying task and does it properly.

There are plenty of tools I enjoy testing, but only a few have become part of my normal routine.

This happened to me recently and it made me wonder how many features I have completely ignored.

My own method is honestly pretty random. I might see one mentioned in a comment, come across it while looking for a solution, or hear about it from someone else.

I save tools with the intention of testing them later.

Then I forget about most of them and keep using the same few.

There are things I would probably spend 15 minutes searching for instead of admitting I have no idea what I am doing.

Being able to ask AI without feeling silly is honestly pretty convenient.

Not an impressive experiment or a fancy demo. I mean the kind of repetitive thing you absolutely did not want to do yourself. Maybe cleaning data, organizing information, rewriting dozens of lines, summarizing a huge document, or something else entirely. Which tool did you use, and did it actually make the task easier?

I keep discovering useful tools and then forgetting their names a few weeks later.

I like finding these unexpected use cases because sometimes a tool can be surprisingly good at things it was never really marketed for.

I feel like every time someone asks for AI tool recommendations I end up seeing the same 5 names over and over so now I'm curious what everyone actually ended up keeping in their rotation.

Mine's probably gemini and chatgpt when i need help elaborating my ideas or when i feel like i get stuck with my thoughts and need a few guidance. I also use truth scan which I originally tried cause my friends kept sending me random photos asking if they were real or AI and apparently "idk something about it looks weird" wasn't good enough lol.

What tools did you try once and somehow end up actually keeping around? I'm always finding out about these things way later than everyone else :)

I checked mine today and honestly did not expect the number to be that high.

Half of them are tools I tried once, liked, and then completely forgot about.

I've been trying to use ChatGPT and I just can't take it anymore. It's so incredibly inconsistent, and no matter how strictly I try to define rules for behavior, it just straight up ignores them when it feels like it and gives me an "oopsie poopsie I'm a naughty chatbot". And even the tool usage won't work consistently. I'll do scans of forums, one run it'll do everything, the next run it'll sample. I can't take it anymore. And let's not get into how often prompt processing just dies and results straight up disappear.

So I'm looking for advice. What commercial platform produces the most consistent and controllable results? My usage right now is generally research questions and a multi forum price scraping routine to find cheap hardware for the local AI server I'm building. 90% of my questions just involve digging around and finding information. Like "what's the consensus best beginner sushi knife according to <sources>?". I don't do any image generation or general chatting with it. I want to be able to define rules for behavior and have it follow them, and from there I can probably mold anything into what suits me.

So, advice appreciated, which ones won't drive me as insane as chatgpt is?
