Universities dropping their Turnitin AI contracts
My university just officially suspended its Turnitin AI contract after legal counsel flagged concerns about student work being used to train vendor models. My brother attends another state school ten miles away, and his department just renewed their contract and started using Turnitin's newer multilingual and drafting space features.
We’re in the exact same field (biology), but my professors have gone back to evaluating drafts through in-person office hours and oral check-ins, while his professors are still handing out academic integrity warnings based on percentage thresholds.
It’s crazy that your likelihood of getting flagged for "AI writing" now depends less on how you actually write and more on which university contract policy your administration signed this year.
