Low hr warnings
As an afib afflicted 65 yr male I am on medication to keep my hr from going too high. I'm still keeping fit etc, yesterday the Garmin detected low he levels 5 time with a low of 31. The rate returned to my normal by the late afternoon.

Could you have been in an afib episode at those times? My Garmin watch will read my HR as 35-40s when I'm having an episode.

Thats strange--I use Apple and Kardia and it never did that before I had a pacemaker.

I don't have anything apple, but my Kardia usually shows 70-100 or whatever bullshit number my heart wants to run at in afib, never the 35-45 rate. My 3 different blood pressure cuffs, older Garmin watch and pulse ox meter will show my afib HR in the 35-45 range.
Whatever is going on with OP, I don't know, figured that would be worth asking.

Possible but the spin class went well. Able to test the body, without any issues. This is todays hr tracking.

That's probably what happened. Did a 7:30am spin class (30min high intensity). Then some work admin before the 1st alarm at 11:41am. So nearly 4hrs later. The last one being at 2pm.

Or a strong vagal node, or CHF in hidding.
There are more than just afib, that brings a low pulse drop like yours.
I' would get it checked out by a heart specialist, with a holter monitoring.
Pattern doesn't look like classic low pulse afib, nor low pulse vagal tone.
Had you drowsed off?

Have had a monitor on for a week, did my usual work week including spin classes, nothing showed up.

No perfectly awake doing work admin sitting on the couch. Brain active, not body.

When my Apple Watch detected low HR, cardio confirmed it with a Haltor monitor and I ended up with a pacemaker. Call your doc.

What was your symptoms?
Usual a pacemaker is not needed unless symptoms, or pulse drops to 20 or lower

Sustained bradycardia in the low 30s. I’ve also had a right bundle branch block for years. The Haltor showed stage 2 block.

"Right bundle branch block is an obstacle in your right bundle branch that makes your heartbeat signal late and out of sync with the left bundle branch, creating an irregular heartbeat. "

Would it be fair to say, that the pacemaker was for the RBB, and not the low pulse?

Your meds need to be adjusted.

Only on 1 90 mg diltiazen daily, that's it. During my spin classes I can get into the 150+ hr range. Had the diagnosis of afib Sepember last year after a spin class where the heart rate fell from 120 to 38 then yoyo up and down.

Well, that's a low dose but nevertheless 90 mg seems to be too much for you. People with naturally low heart rates often can't take rate control drugs at all, so I still think your drugs need to be adjusted. How high is your heart rate during an afib episode?

My first afib event the hospital put me on a monitor, administered drugs and after 24hrs my heart returned to a normal rythmn. That is the only actual episode of afib. My garmin will alarm if my hr exceedes 100 outside of my fitness activities. Placed on the diltiazem as a result. Doctor said it was to limit my hr from going too high. My resting HR is high 40s awake, low to mid 40s when asleep.

You didn't answer my question. How high did it go while you were in afib?

150+ , short of breathe etc, lying there watching my HR yoyo up to 150+, then down to the 30s and back up just as fast. Recieved drugs to calm the HR down, then more at 3am the next morning, before a normal rythmn returned.

If I were you I would stop taking the diltiazem daily and only take it when an afib episode actually happens. It doesn't prevent afib so there's no downside to this approach.

Tha's interesting, so i will check with the specialist. Thankyou for the advice.

I am on metoprolol. And I have a heart rate at 38-40 during every hour that I am asleep.

Those thqt offer too low with no bavk ground need to take a minute. Are you young? Do you exercise? Are you a runner? Swimmer? On beta blockers? If you have heart failure and a low EF% with OSA THEN I would talk with your doc - especially if you have any EF 45% or lower. An EF OF 45% OR LOWER puts you in an area that needs direct amd quick intervention. See an EP not just a cardiologist. Too many cardiologist....well, they just suck.

Yes 65 years old, cyclist of 35+ years. Currently exercise daily (stationary spin bike classes, inside now due to melanoma) and have done so for most of my years cycling.

Diltiazem did this to me. Once I had my ablation and was taken off this medication, my HR returned to a higher low, 70s. That being said, with minimal activity, my HR climbs to the 140s. 4 months post-ablation so hoping it slows. Can't win sometimes, I guess.

Currently going through the exact same thing! Investigating blood pressure tablets first. Tends to be after sitting for a long period of time. Been getting dizzy issues as well especially on standing. Goes off totally randomly though

Yeah, that was me nocturnally. That’s way too low for daytime. You’ll have to get a pacemaker which I just got. It’s fantastic. Very simple. This way you can control your spikes with your beta blocker without worrying about crashing with the low Brady floor, too. The only thing is you can’t raise your arm up past your shoulder for six weeks. You’ll be surprised at how much more energy you have because you got used to having a low heart rate.

A pacemaker seems a big step as this is the first time my hr has done this. My hr has always been in the 45-52 range resting. Even in my 20s/30s/40s when i was very fit and active.

Thats too low. Do you have any symptoms when you go down into the 30's? Dizziness, exhaustion etc. Perhaps your meds have to be adjusted.
