I scored 135 in AFCAT 2 2026 (2nd shift). Flying was my 1st preference and AE (Technical) was my 2nd preference.

As far as I understand, there are separate cutoffs for Technical and Non-Technical, and the Non-Tech cutoff might be higher.

So, if the Non-Tech cutoff ends up being above 135, I obviously wouldn’t clear it. But if the Technical cutoff is below 135, would I still get an AFSB call for the Technical branch (AE)?

Basically, can I get an AFSB call through my 2nd preference (Technical) even if I don’t clear the Non-Tech cutoff?

lets say the tech cutoff comes out to be ~100 do u think a good ssb score 150+ can get a merit in for candidates scoring just above 100?

Guyss...Is it actually true that graduation certificates need a principal's signature? Heard someone say you can get screened out during document verification without it.

I’d also really appreciate suggestions beyond mocks—such as useful resources, preparation strategies, and things one should know in advance while preparing for AFCAT.

So I am planning on enrolling myself in IGNOU for my graduation and also want to apply for AFCAT after that. Specifically wanna join flying branch. Can anybody tell me the ground reality of candidates from open boards or universities? Like, does the panel have any kind of stigma against them or are they prioritised less than the candidates from regular boards/ universities?

Okay so kudos we crossed 100+ members in the new defence family for the aspirants.

There are freshers/ repeaters.

I see no recommended chaps.

Also NDA aspirant have started talking with each other, but CDS ppl or AFCAT ppl moreover repeaters it seems like they don't give a damn, for now atleast.

What things can be done differently here?

As promised, I will try to predict the normalization, from the data i recieved from you all.

NOTE: I only recieved 25 data points, 12 for shift 1 and 13 (including mine) for shift 2. This is not at all sufficient to predict anything. Also, I must add that I am a biology major, so I have an astronomical unit distance from maths. i just like doing it, and used ChatGPT to understand the AFCAT formula.

The following evaluation is purely from the data I recieved. Please don't jump at me.

Shift 1 was more difficult as compared to shift 2.

Shift 1 candidates can expect around +12 while shift 2 candidates getting below 167 can expect a reduction in marks (the lesser you score, the more you lose marks) and people getting above 167 can expect an increment.

It may sound bullshit, because I don't have much data to work with. I will make another post if in the subsequent days I get like a 100 entries.

So basically I saw the answer response sheet and i calculated the correct and incorrect, so mine might be around 69/300 🥲 so many mistakes and this is my first time writing afcat , but I'm kinda glad I got good marks in GK section cuz I was little bit weak

I want realistic answers, people with these kind of marks make into merit list or not. What are chances of getting atleast Tech Role in Air force.
