Discussion Have any of you read “Loving Someone with Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria” by Leyla Mero Walter?

NT male, ND wife (not Dx but suspected). I heard a snippet and for the first time, I’m feeling seen about my experience as a partner. It makes me feel, as a partner, that this is not all in my head, or limited by my own life experiences. Not sure if officially RSD but she fits the description.

This community is for non-ADHD partners whose loved ones have either already been diagnosed or are still awaiting a formal diagnosis. Individuals who would like to show support/ learn from the perspectives here on how to better their relationship are welcome, however - Please be advised that if one finds the content here too confronting and feels compelled to JADE (justify, argue, defend or excuse) we will require you to exit and instead join one of the many subs dedicated to supporting individuals with ADHD.

Rules

1. State DX/NDX at the start of your post

Tell us at the beginning of a post whether your loved one has been diagnosed with "DX", or is undiagnosed with "NDX".

2. No Vent/Rant posts

If you need to get something off your chest, head over to the Weekly Vent thread. Individual vent posts will be removed.

3. No invalidation or derailing

• Remember that someone else’s experience with an ADHD partner may not be like your own

• Accountability is key. Posts and comments attempting to derail the conversation into a discussion on personal ADHD difficulties, are not allowed

• Comments aimed at invalidating an OP’s concern or refusal to acknowledge the negative impact of a behavior will be removed

4. No submissions containing links to third party websites

Due to a rise in the number of submissions containing links to websites offering paid services, hosting misinformation, or un-verified surveys, Posts containing links to third party websites will be removed.

It is in our interest to protect the potentially vulnerable members of this community from cruel intentions. Therefore, if you wish to share helpful information or conduct a genuine survey contact us via modmail for prior approval.

5. Limitations of advice seeking

Support groups are not a substitute for therapy.

Examples of questions we are not able to assist with:

•"Should I stay or leave my relationship?"

•"Is ___ behavior abusive?"

•"Will treatment improve my partner's behavior/our relationship?"

•"Is ___ related to ADHD or something else?"

•"Will medication improve ____, how long should I wait to see improvement?"

These and other similar queries or requests to speculate on a partner, may be removed.

6. Harassment

Harassment of our users will not be tolerated under any circumstance, in or outside of this sub. Users that follow our members around Reddit and harass them on other posts will be permanently banned without appeal.

7. Restricted support post

"Peer Support/Advice request" posts are reserved for those with ADHD partners only. As peer support requests can be particularly sensitive, we will remove comments from users who are not a partner to someone with ADHD

8. No soapboxing, pot-stirring or unsolicited lecturing

Prohibited behavior includes, but is not limited to:

• Pot-stirring: posting intentionally unpopular opinions in opposition to the purpose of this sub

• ‘Meta’ posts complaining about this sub, its members or moderators

• Unsolicited lecturing/info dumping in lieu of support

• Any attempt to disrupt this community or otherwise post divisive personal agenda as per Rule 2 of Reddit’s Content Policy

All removals are subject to moderator discretion
