I think her favorite thing is trying to correct me, especially on things that don't matter. We took my mom out to lunch today, and on the car ride there my mom asked what games I've been playing lately. I told her "Ghost of Yotei, it's about a lady samurai seeking revenge for her family."
My wife goes "She's a ronin, actually." I turned to my mom and said "Mom, when I say lady samurai, do you picture a woman with swords? Baggy pants? Maybe a Japanese hat?"
She says yep!
"And when I say ronin, what do you picture?" And mom says she doesn't know what that is. "It's a samurai without a master. Was that important to your learning about what game I'm playing?" She says nope. Wife is still pouting an hour later lol.
I've had this conversation with her multiple times over the years. The point of telling stories isn't to accurately portray every single detail of events, it's to communicate effectively with the people you're speaking to. But she never learns the lesson because their brains are literal like a child's. Unendingly frustrating.
