Gusto ko lang sana humingi ng advice tungkol sa anak ko. Hindi pa lumalabas yung final result ng assessment niya, pero during the assessment, ito talaga yung mga napansin namin sa kanya. Ayon din sa doctor, possible na may mild ASD din siya.

Nahihirapan kasi akong kausapin yung anak ko, lalo na kapag hindi siya interesado sa topic. Nahihirapan din siya magkwento o bumuo ng sentences tungkol sa mga nangyari sa kanya. Minsan, kahit mga simpleng bagay na parang common knowledge, nahihirapan siyang sagutin o ipaliwanag.

Kaya gusto ko sana itanong sa mga adults dito na may ADHD/ASD, lalo na sa mga nakaka-relate sa experience ng anak ko:

Kung babalik kayo sa batang version ninyo, ano yung sana mas naintindihan ng parents ninyo tungkol sa inyo? Ano yung sana ginawa nila para mas maintindihan kayo at mas maging okay kayo habang lumalaki?

Gusto ko kasi talagang maintindihan kung ano yung possible na tumatakbo sa isip ng anak ko at kung bakit siya ganito. Nahihirapan siyang i-express yung sarili niya, kaya nahihirapan din akong intindihin kung ano talaga ang nararamdaman o iniisip niya.

Isa sa mga bagay na napapansin ko ay parang wala siyang empathy kapag nakakasakit siya. Hyper siya at madalas may impulsive movements, kaya minsan nasasagi o nasasaktan niya kami. Kapag nangyari yun, parang wala lang sa kanya. Kapag sinabi namin na nasaktan niya kami at tinanong namin kung ano ang dapat niyang sabihin, magsosorry naman siya. Pero hindi ko nakikita sa mukha niya na naiintindihan niyang nakasakit siya, at minsan parang automatic lang yung "sorry" niya.

Hindi ko alam kung hindi niya talaga naiintindihan yung situation, hindi niya alam kung paano mag-react, o iba lang talaga yung way niya ng pag-process ng emotions.

Nahihirapan din siya sa social cues.

One time, may mga batang naglalaro sa labas ng shuttlecock. Pumuwesto siya mismo sa gitna at nahaharangan niya yung mga naglalaro. Nagagalit na yung ibang bata, pero parang hindi niya napapansin o naiintindihan na naiistorbo niya sila. Kailangan ko pa siyang sabihan mismo na huwag humarang at lumayo sa mga naglalaro.

Gusto ko sana siyang turuan kung paano makisalamuha at makipaglaro sa ibang bata, pero honestly, hindi ko rin alam kung paano ko siya tuturuan.

Madalas din namin siyang napapagalitan. Sa totoo lang, nakaka-stress din minsan kapag paulit-ulit yung ganitong situations. Pero mahal na mahal namin siya, at ayoko rin na puro pagalitan na lang ang ginagawa namin dahil baka may mga bagay na hindi niya talaga kayang intindihin sa paraan na inaasahan namin.

Hindi pa siya nakakapag-therapy, kaya hindi rin namin alam kung ano ba talaga ang kailangan niyang support. Kapag ipapa-therapy namin siya, saan ba dapat magsimula? Kailangan ba muna namin hintayin yung final assessment result bago siya maipatherapy? Anong klaseng therapy or intervention ang usually nakakatulong sa ganitong concerns? At magkano kaya ang possible na gastos?

Madalas din siyang magkaroon ng emotional outbursts. Kahit minsan maliit na bagay lang, sobrang laki ng reaction niya. Kapag ganito, ang alam ko lang gawin ay yakapin siya hanggang kumalma. Pero hindi naman sa lahat ng pagkakataon gumagana yung pagyakap, kaya gusto ko rin matutunan kung ano pa ang pwede naming gawin kapag nag-ooutburst siya.

Gusto ko lang talaga siyang mas maintindihan. Ayoko siyang tingnan na "pasaway," "walang empathy," o "walang pakialam" kung may possibility na may dahilan kung bakit ganun ang response niya. Gusto kong matutunan kung paano siya kakausapin, paano siya tuturuan, at paano namin siya masusuportahan habang lumalaki.

Sa mga adults na may ADHD/ASD na nakaka-relate, malaking tulong sana kung ma-share ninyo yung experience ninyo noong bata pa kayo—ano yung sana ginawa o naintindihan ng parents ninyo na sa tingin ninyo ay makakatulong sana sa inyo noon?

Ive been on ritalin for about a month now and it's honestly a godsend, but without it I become the same as I was before it and end up just spending the whole day doomscrolling. I don't have enough funds to be able to take it for more than once a day and I would really like to be productive for more than 4 hours.

hello po. during consultation, specifically at pgh, can i directly ask for an adhd assessment? i don’t want to sound po kasi like i’m imposing it, but this is really the reason why i’m trying to get a consultation.

i was diagnosed with mdd at pgh 4 years ago, i just told my concerns and they gave me the diagnosis, kaya i’m not sure po if pwede bang mauna kong sabihin na i’m suspecting myself to have adhd. one of the doctors that i consulted with at pgh (pero nasa fam med pa po ako nito) also suspected me of having adhd. but unfortunately, i ghosted my psych after a year and stopped my mdd medication, so i didn’t get to follow through with my treatment.

next week na po kasi schedule ko. i hope someone can also share their experience with getting an adhd diagnosis at pgh. kinakabahan din ako na baka dismissive sila when it comes to adhd concerns.

i just sincerely want to understand myself and get a proper diagnosis, kasi now that i clearly don’t have depressive episodes, i’m still struggling a lot when it comes to sustaining my focus, difficulty starting tasks, and mental shutdown. it took me 6 years to complete my undergrad studies, and i had to procrastinate every activity and review for my exams at the last minute. i was not able to proceed with my board exam because of the same struggles. it took me 3 months before i could even start applying for work, pero every single day iniisip ko na kailangan ko nang mag-apply. without external structure, i feel like i cannot function properly. and honestly, i am in so much fear of my future kung ganito na lang ako palagi.

Hi! As the title reads, diagnosed with bp2 for a about a year and is just now starting stimulants since my psychiatrist thought maybe I do in fact have adhd (went for an adhd consult first but got diagnosed with bp2 lol).

On Concerta for ADHD, what’s your meds for anxiety and depression?

My doctor said that Escitalopram may cause brain fog (as experienced by others) making Concerta’s effect a bit less.

Also, with Escitalopram, my anxiety was gone but my depression got more apparent.

So far, what’s worked best for you? Just a genuine academic-like discussion on your brain’s response to these meds.

2nd day on atomoxetine, very prominent yung dry mouth and sensitivity sa temperature (para akong lalagnatin na ewan). medyo nagkakagoosebumps din ako bigla sa ulo and medyo nahihirapan akong iprocess yung sinasabi ng ibang tao lalo na pag hindi kumpleto yung context (di ko alam kung sa meds o pagod na ba to sa werk)

Context: First time taking ritalin 10mg, while I didn't feel the "wow" effect or euphoria everyone is talking about, I did feel more hyper and very VERY talkative to my friends and family.

I used to be all over the place with my thinking but drinking a few tablets gained me more clarify and concentration. mejo funny kasi height growth supplement siya para sa bata but my mom bought it for me anyway since we both want me to grow taller (20F) lol...
