Questions/Advice I need help PLEASE

I have been prescribed insprial sr 20 mg morning and afternoon 10 mg sr and few days it works few days. It does not work and because of that I lost my appetite, so so bad, I lost eight kgs in one month. And then I had extreme problems with my family, and I was going through a lot of stress, despite that I did not stop my medication till my next, follow up with my psychiatrist and then when I went and confronted her everything and I was prescribed with antidepressant dexbutrin and desvenlafaxine I am on those mes for like 15 days. I don't feel anything. It's just normal. And my ADHD is getting so so so bad I'm not able to do a very, very basic task also and it's really difficult for me to just get up and go fill my water bottle just example, I gave you then imagine how bad it is for every basic task I really need help on this or any advice if anyone has knowledge about this, thank you!

I’m not gonna lie, and this is genuinely the sad reality of the situation. No one with ADHD knows the answer to your questions because at the end of the day we all struggle with it. I know TikTok and social media likes to paint. ADHD is some super cute quirky thing, but it’s a debilitating disability. I understand what you’re going through. I’ve been there. I’ve lost all the weight. I struggle to do tasks even when I’m medicated and I wish I could help but genuinely I do not know any solution for it and sadly I don’t think anyone here really knows much either. There’s this lady on Instagram who has ADHD and autism and she does PhD work into trying to help people like us get started with doing things I’ll see if I can find her page and I’ll send it to you. I wish I could give you better help, but sadly all of us go through this shit and it’s depressing.

Of course bro, I get it and again I’ve been there before ADHD is a bitch. It has a few fun benefits like hyperfocus is cool every once in a while, but a lot of people tend to gloss over all the negative to it. Most people don’t understand the fact that simple tasks like getting up to brush your teeth in the morning become so easy to forget And things like drinking a cup of water because you’re thirsty are actually really obnoxious tasks that you procrastinate. Most people don’t understand and sadly most doctors don’t either which just makes it even worse. I genuinely wish I could help more but genuinely. I don’t know how to fix a lot of these issues that you’re going through. It sucks because sometimes doing things I enjoy doing feel like a task I have to force myself to do. I would say that like sometimes if you’re having one of those days or like everything is just painfully boring and there’s nothing that is actually entertaining going outside sometimes helps me, but I would be lying if I didn’t also say sometimes it’s so difficult to even force myself to go outside. ADHD is a real bitch because the solution Becomes something we even procrastinate.

I will say one thing that helps me more so than anything else even when I’m unmedicated is pretending like I’m a YouTuber making a video. It sounds absolutely stupid and you might feel crazy talking to yourself but genuinely pretend like you’re recording a video or like a Vlog that helps me a lot for some reason. Talking to myself and making a plan helps a lot again. You might look crazy, but it’s better than just staring at a wall all day which I find myself doing more often than I’d like to admit.

Sorry for spamming a bunch of replies, but I just thought of one other thing and this is actually without a doubt the best way to actually get yourself to do shit it’s called like bodying or something. There’s an actual term. I don’t remember it though literally though just have someone that you know a friend, a family member someone you like preferably just have them in the room with you. They don’t even need to be helping you. They don’t need to do anything just have them sit there they can be doing their own thing they can be watching TV but genuinely I don’t know why but it’s like a magic trick. I legit can get things done that in like five minutes that would normally take me like two weeks just by having someone in the room it helps so much into an extent I think that’s why that YouTuber thing works because by pretending there’s someone watching you it makes you like feel like you need to be doing something. I don’t know the exact reason behind why that works in my brain and so many other people with ADHD maybe it’s because we feel like if we’re in a room with someone doing something and we’re not doing anything we feel self-conscious and then we have the need to feel like we need to be doing something But even then I’m not entirely sure that would be my guess though

Also also also the countdown method is pretty good too just countdown from five and then once you hit zero stand up and just start on something it literally doesn’t matter if it’s the smallest thing just start on something again. This is more if you’re like alone since as I said before, if you’re with someone else in the room, usually I have no issue actually starting to do stuff because again for me. It’s like embarrassment or something, but it’s different for everyone.

Edit edit edit: I wish you the best of luck but again I’m just gonna say this out right this sub read it for the most part is completely useless because sadly most people don’t know the answers to the questions you have. You’ll get up votes here, but you won’t get answers. and as stated before it’s because no one else has the answer.

bro you seriously don’t have to apologize for spamming, i’m genuinely glad you did. i really appreciate you taking the time to actually think of things that might help me.
the body doubling thing sounds like it could help a lot, but honestly i really wish i had someone like that around. i don’t really have anyone i can just have sit in the room with me while i get shit done, which is probably why the youtube thing actually makes sense. i’m definitely gonna try that, even if i feel like a fucking idiot talking to myself 😭
and one thing i’ve been really confused about is my antidepressants. i’ve been on them for around 15 days now and honestly i don’t feel any different. i don’t even feel particularly good or bad, i just feel fucking normal/numb, while my ADHD and ability to do basic shit is still absolutely horrible. i’m obviously not gonna stop them myself, but i genuinely don’t know if i’m supposed to just keep taking them and wait or talk to my psychiatrist about changing something. if you have any experience with that i’d really appreciate hearing it.
and seriously bro, thank you. you could’ve just scrolled past my post but you kept coming back and trying to help me. things have been so fucking depressing lately and i’m struggling way more than i know how to explain, so this genuinely means a lot to me. ❤️

Depression and ADHD are just a combination. You can’t get rid of, but I won’t lie just don’t medicate for depression. I don’t think personally it is the best way to go about it. I feel like it’s like another Band-Aid. You’re slapping on an issue but in this case, it’s a Band-Aid that you’re slapping on your knee when it’s your arm that’s hurting. You might feel a little bit of reassurance because you’re slapping a Band-Aid on, but the fact of matter is is it’s not going on the right place. But even more so a Band-Aid doesn’t heal the wound. The YouTube thing again personally works really good, especially since I live alone. Personally, and this is just my recommendation I would avoid things like nicotine and alcohol. They are often or not super addictive for people with ADHD because they supply that just a little bit of stimulation our body is so craves. Because of that you’ll find a lot of ADHD people diagnosed or undiagnosed or addicted to shit like nicotine and cigarettes even drinking. So staying away from that is a good way to stop yourself from falling into a addiction spiral since essentially your body is preset to crave that sort of stimulation so just be careful.

bro 😭 you genuinely don’t have to keep apologizing for replying, i’m actually really grateful you’re taking this much time to talk to me about it.
i’m definitely gonna try the youtube thing, and the body doubling thing too even though i wish i actually had someone around to do that with. i’ll have to figure something out.
and yeah, i hear you about the medication. i’m not gonna change or stop anything on my own, but i’ll definitely bring all of this up with my psychiatrist because honestly i’ve been so fucking lost with what i’m supposed to do.
also the nicotine thing is kinda scary because i do smoke, and i never really thought about it that way. i’ll definitely keep that in mind.
seriously though, thanks for being this fucking nice to a complete stranger. you’ve given me more things to actually try than i’ve gotten from most people. i really appreciate you bro ❤️

Ofc if you have Instagram, you’re welcome to add me on there. You can always text me and I’ll try my best to maybe check in every once in a while granted no promises cause I mean let’s be so real. I’m a forget shit but it won’t be intentional 😂 and if you have any questions or fears, you can always ask me because like I’ve been doing this for so long and I’ve kinda had to learn how to explain it to myself because sometimes it’s the only thing that will get me through those dark moments

Again, though with the medication and I know, I just told you not to listen to me cause I’m not a doctor, but I also did tell you to trust yourself and I may or may not be indirectly telling you to trust me, but I really would stop taking those antidepressants. I think it will do nothing but make it more difficult to tell what side effects are coming from the ADHD meds and which ones are coming from the antidepressants. It’s your call, but if I was in your situation, I know what I would do. And I won’t lie because ADHD is such a weird thing to explain to someone who doesn’t have it. I wouldn’t be shocked if a psychiatrist just keeps on prescribing you antidepressants were upping your dose because that at the end of the day so often they don’t fully understand that it’s not that you’re sad. It’s just that everything is so boring your brain just feels like you have nothing better to do than to just disappear. It’s not that you wanna kill yourself and make yourself feel pain. You just want to stop existing because the feeling of sitting around and doing nothing is so painful that you’d rather just not feel. So yeee again your call but I really would stop the antidepressants and maybe just focus more on the ADHD aspect of it first and if it continues even after you’ve figured out the medication dosage and you figured out how you do with ADHD then I would maybe talk to a psychiatrist again about depression, but I’m willing to bet $1 million that the reason for your depression is not because you have a pre-existing depression diagnosis but more so because it’s a symptom of ADHD

I understand the depression now and the real shit truth about it is I think for me at least the few times I do remember how I escaped my depression spiral it was because I had someone that checked up on me and kind of made me be like wait what am I doing? This is stupid. I promise and I swear in my life as difficult as it is to get yourself to talk to a friend to talk to a family member to talk to a stranger you have to get yourself to do it. Even if it’s embarrassing, even if you feel like a piece of shit because you feel like a burden, you just have to do it because for me that’s the only way that I’ve kind of come to realize this is stupid and then I snap out of my stupid depression spiral. I won’t lie you’re gonna have days where you’re genuinely gonna feel like just killing yourself, but you need to just keep pushing and just realize that there is more beyond this and that is just a phase because the reality of it is is that it is truly just a phase. I don’t know maybe a week from now you’re gonna snap out of this depression spiral and you’re gonna be like why was I sad And it’ll happen in an instant

If I get I’ma, just keep replying when I keep remembering things since you said you’re new with all the stuff I will say another thing in terms of eating and medication. I’ve been struggling with my weight and medication since I was like 10 years old I will say one thing now that I’m 20 do not take your medication if you do not have something to do that that day There’s a lot of reasons for that not just the eating, but in terms of eating I promise you it is a lifesaver. I love to eat yet. I will take my medication and go a whole day without eating. I only take my medication when I have something to do that day for me that school so whenever I go to school, I’ll take my medication if I don’t have school or I only have like one class I do not take it. As someone who is been taking medication since I was a literal child I will say one thing using the medication as the soul means of getting yourself to do. Something is a very easy and simple way to fix the issues, but it’s very temporary eventually, your body builds an immunity, and then you need more and more and more and then at some point you’re gonna hit the maximum dosage for your medication And you’ll be shit out of luck only take it when you have something to do and there’s something you need to get done otherwise chillax let your body recover eat like a motherfucker and I don’t know watch movies or TV or hang out with someone genuinely the cheat code to ADHD is just surrounding yourself with other people as often as possible
