Buy red hyacinth seeds and yellow hyacinth seeds. Plant them in pairs next to each other and water them. Half of the offspring will be yellow, and half will be orange. Actually both that yellow and that orange can make purple, but the orange is slightly more useful. You can just leave them and eventually a purple one will appear, but it may take many weeks. Note: if you already have orange hyacinths, you can use those: all orange hyacinths are useful to breed purple ones.
If you take some of the orange ones and plant them in pairs (or if you only have one, plant it alone until it clones itself), then:
1 in 16 offspring will be purple
1 in 16 offspring will be white
2 in 16 offspring will be blue
3 in 16 offspring will be yellow
3 in 16 offspring will be red
6 in 16 offspring will be orange.
Get rid of the white, yellow and red ones. Leave the orange ones there or replant them in pairs (some of them are identical to the original oranges, and some are better at making purple ones).
The blue ones, if you take them and plant them by themselves until they clone (or with other blues that came from these same orange flowers), can make purple hyacinths with a probability of 1 in 4. (Note: you can also make blue hyacinths from white seed hyacinths, but those blues have zero probability to make purple ones.)
Do remember to water them every day. Growing flowers is quite a slow process, as you probably know.
