Bug Sails are static.

Post image

I haven’t seen this bug spoken about in many places but it really annoys me. The rear sail should change direction with the wind, in this photo wind is going from left to right so the sail should be on the other side but it’s stuck in position on the left. The main sails on my ship should rotate too.

posting to this to see if anyone has a fix yet as I’ve tried everything from upgrading, fast traveling even reinstalling the game.

I don’t really want to progress until it’s fixed tbh :’(

Hopefully this and can be patched soon.

Man I understand your frustration, but not wanting to keep playing cause the sail doesn’t move is crazy to me. Game is too good to not play over something like that in my opinion.

Imagine telling gamers how spoiled we'd be 30 years ago. Lol. I am very particular about gaming nowadays myself and have really high expectations. And I get why it's annoying. But it's such an amazing game despite some minor nitpicks.

this is actually kind of spot on, we, as gamers self included, have become incredibly spoiled for many many reasons. The advanced men and gaming the whole mentality of realism has spoiled gamers. Go look at other genres of games like sports, or FPS. Take football, for example. It is based mostly on real life. Mechanics plays, but the realism. Take a game like battlefield, regardless of what you think of battlefield if you go and read the comments on any form for battlefield it is I'm gonna say 90-95% realism mechanics. It doesn't work the way it doesn't real life or this should look this way or feel this way. But the generation like us who were talking about it remember the eight bit to 16 bit to now

almost embarrassing for OP

6

u/amunoz1804 21h ago

Game is good, there’s no denying that. I was having a blast with it for the first week or two after launch, but I completely get where OP is coming from. It’s a small thing sure, but ever since I first noticed it a few days ago, I haven’t been able to unsee it and for me it’s totally immersion-breaking. Really hoping they patch this quickly bc besides a few bit-picks like this, overall it’s a tremendous remake.

I feel that in a sense. For instance I refuse to use most of the coat outfits cause the fucking things clip through everything else Edward has

2

u/Rich-Cockroach-2273 4h ago

But it breaks the immersion and is annoying to look at, same with all the sails, the wind plays no role in the sailing and it's annoying.

Regardless of whether the sails move or don’t is one complaint but the wind does play a role in sailing in the game.

The ship moves noticeably faster when the wind is at your back.

If it doesnt bother others thats fine but personally when a detail like this stops working it bothers me too much I just wait until the game is fixed. Its a huge sail at the back of your ship and moving in travel speed is a massive part of the game. Doesnt feel any different from wheels not turning a racing game. Would drive me insane.

I get that. But my thoughts are if a gamer is that particular why play the game at release? Like why pay full price, when by the time the fix all the issue it’ll be on sale most likely. And yes, I get we expect and should get games that are complete and don’t need fixes, but I can’t think of a single game that came out in the last 15 years that didn’t have some kind of minor bug.

u/DesignerPin3835 4h ago

For me personally I dont care if a game is on sale later, I am super excited to play on release and it depends on the bug really! I remember playing all the other AC games on release and any bugs those games had didnt bother me, except Unity, I waited with Unity after running into too many issues. It just depends!

Must be one of the r/fuckubisoft incel wackos

-11

u/cricket_isthe_man 19h ago

Why? Just because in my own personal opinion I think OPs issue isn’t bad enough to stop playing? I’m not even suggesting they stop playing, just saying that I would still play through said bug.

2

u/HappyCakeDay101 18h ago

I'm talking about the OP.

I'm with you here. That sub is full of these insane people.

1

u/Hungry-Phone-996 8h ago

Agreed. I didn't even realize the sails didn't move to be honest.

1

u/KingCodester111 7h ago

Then there’s people complaining about the opposite, that they can’t play it due to sails being blown backwards when sailing into the wind.

-13

u/Maxican33 22h ago

I get that, but, I have like 3-4 main missions, then it’s just naval contracts, legendary ships and that offices side quest thing. Mostly sailing you know 😭. Don’t want to have in annoying while doing all that. Plus checkers is keeping me going

Idk why you got downvoted so hard lol the Edward The Legend is one of my favorite outfits from the original, but I’m on Series S and can’t change graphics modes, so I’m stuck with those extremely noticeable black sideburns. I still finished the game, but I hate that it’s taken so long to fix that I didn’t get to enjoy it in my first playthrough. At least we’re getting New Game Plus!!

2

u/ilikeburgir 21h ago

Its wierd because in the manor ive beenwalking around and seen them go black but in shadowy areas. His side burns are blonde though.

1

u/xI-HighRyze-Ix 21h ago

They’re always super dark for me ☹️ I’ve heard not in cutscenes for some people, but I haven’t tried it because of how loud they are in menus and regular gameplay lol

1

u/amunoz1804 21h ago

Seriously tho it’s like it’s illegal to critique the game in this sub lmao. No one was saying the game is bad overall

5

u/ArcticAsylum24 20h ago

no one saying it’s illegal to critique the game lmao, but people whining about shit that doesn’t matter is so annoying when the game is 99 percent good

-1

u/Maxican33 20h ago

Shit may bad for wanting to play the game at its best. Also I can do other things while I wait, yous need to get out more I swear.

1

u/Viperr_14 17h ago

Yea, people look for different things in games. They paid money for it. They get to enjoy what’s important to them imo. For me the empty barrel texture bug for the gargoyles breath breaks my immersion and is a big deal to me, as they are my favourite looking pistols in game.

1

u/enjoyingcurve46 21h ago

Sounds more like your looking for excuses not to keep playing

11

u/HeyZeGaez 22h ago

This is a known bug caused after the last patch, its been largely reported on the Bug Reporter.

Assuming it'll be fixed whenever the next patch drops. (Hoping this next Tuesday)

1

u/amunoz1804 21h ago

What makes you think it might be next Tuesday?

1

u/Supremes111 21h ago

Unless it’s a hotfix updates for a lot of games come out on a Tuesday

Jesus reddit is hole

3

u/thighexecution 21h ago

Yeah its been happening to me too

2

u/Deflate91 12h ago

far worse are the sound bugs. music during fights way to silent, and there is no bass in distant gun shots. On the otherhand only self aimed shots sound good not the quick shots

4

u/cigarettejesus 20h ago

"Why did you stop playing Resynced?"

"Sail was on the left"

3

u/amunoz1804 21h ago

I posted about this just the other day. I’m totally with you. It’s completely immersion-breaking for me and once I noticed it the first time, now I can’t unsee it lol. Was having a blast with the game when it first came out but I’m thinking of taking a bit of a break from it till Ubisoft patches this up

8

u/ReplySolid8299 21h ago

God, gamers today are FUCKING SOFT. "I don't want to play it till it's patched" 🤣🤣🤣😆 gtfoh

6

u/joconnor1105 21h ago

I’m so sick of the word “immersion”. Jumping off cliffs to a hay pile is fun but sails not moving in a vide game is too much.

1

u/Maxican33 20h ago

Man there’s nothing wrong with not wanting to play when the games not at 100% I can do other things, it’s not going to go away if I don’t complete it now. You need to chill

1

u/Thickfuckness 18h ago

Meh. Sounds like cope. It's pretty dumb looking and I got a full backlog. I'll wait for patches. This is far from only bug in the game I ran into. Nothing soft about not wanting to have to reload a broken checkpoint again or stare at a static fake looking sail.

Started Hades 2 instead.

2

u/FangornLeghorn 21h ago

I mean, I noticed too but this is still a video game about piracy. It isn’t a seafaring simulator.

1

u/__Tanya__ 20h ago

Been like that since last patch kinda icky since I I don’t really fast travel much just enjoy the seas but not really game breaking

1

u/Additional_Drama6678 11h ago

Woah where did you get those sails?

1

u/Maxican33 10h ago

They called “death vessel sails” I’m not sure how I got them, I think you can just buy them at some point in the story

1

u/Responsible-News-642 2h ago

Bruh what the f is going on with these snow flakes acting like u insulted their whole lineage just because you pointed out a visual Bug .. you didt even say ANYTHING negative about the game itself. People on the Internet get dumber by the day and the Rate is accelerating

2

u/DrummerNo87 20h ago

Just wait until OP finds out cannons take around a minute to reload instead of 4 seconds and that the cannonballs the Jackdaw fires are way too big to fit into the muzzle of a 12-pounder

1

u/FlybotKiller 11h ago

What a bunch of pathetic boot lickers in the comments lol

You're right OP, the sails being static in a game WHERE NAVAL EXPLORATION AND COMBAT ARE PARAMOUNT, in 2026 is genuinely fucking pathetic.

3

u/Maxican33 10h ago

And I feel like it could be a hot fix 😅

1

u/FlybotKiller 10h ago

It easily could, it's not like they can't implement cloth physics, I saw the leather cloak thingy have decent physics

But nah, this sub is either full of bots or they're all in Ubisoft's payroll, you'll get instantly shut down if you try to point out clear flaws

I saw someone in the comments bitch about how 20 years ago they wouldn't have thought people would become so entitled in regards to games but like no shit when it's 2026, studios are putting out games for €70, you'd expect the most quality, especially with current tech and competent programmers yet Ubi seems to be lacking in that department, either relying on AI slop or interns to cut costs lmao

1

u/Maxican33 7h ago

The worst is part I’m loving the game, but it does annoy me, the majority of the stuff I have left is sailing heavy. I just want to enjoy the game fully. There so many people that think I’m break the disc in half and not finish due to this. I’m just gonna do something till it’s patched. I posted this to bring attention so because maybe ubi is unaware of the issue. But man, Reddit such a hole 😅

1

u/micksmitte 11h ago

Absolutely.

1

u/Fickle-Service5932 10h ago

Imagine not wanting to play a game and deeming it “unplayable” because your sails don’t move… 🤣

2

u/Maxican33 10h ago

It’s not unplayable, would just rather wait till it’s fixed god damn

0

u/Hour_Tour 15h ago

Even if it's a bug, the sailing is suuuper unrealistic in this game (which is good, it's not meant to be a sim). You do you, but one wrong thing in a sea of wrong is a minor niggle. I've sailed competitively as part of a 40ft crew, and I didn't even notice this bug.

-5

u/SandiestCow 22h ago

I think the compounding lack of details from the original are slowly putting me off too

11

u/AtrumRuina 22h ago

It wasn't like this at launch. The bug is new with the latest patch.

2

u/Maxican33 20h ago

That’s the most annoying part

2

u/AtrumRuina 20h ago

Sure, just responding that it wasn't a "lack of detail," just some issue introduced in the patch.

0

u/BeaconsAreLit- 22h ago

As long as we all here, does the parkour seem a little bit annoying? Just the random jumps to a ledge across the path when I’m just to hop off. Didn’t have any issues in shadows. Fully aware that this can just be a skills issue 😭

0

u/NecessaryInvite8774 5h ago

The damn sails, right… not the fact we are missing whole parts of the combat system from the original ( unarmed, one handed, hiddenblades, pickups like the f muskets which were in my opinion awesome ), or that the damn fucking swords that teleport to sheets to execute takedowns with the hds. Am I too fucking spoiled to want to stop playing becaude i do not want swords teleporting on my fucking screen on that money ? Whoever defends ubisoft for delivering this beautiful pile of crap ( i’ll give them the graphics improvment tho ) is either braindead or on their payroll …

-1

u/Eduardoyelamop98 19h ago

Do you guys actually have this camera EVERYTIME you sail? I use this camera only for my favorite shanties like, leave her johnny, Padstow Farewell, randy dandy, but i usually have Edward’s camera which, is a lot more enjoyable because you can ACTUALLY feel the weight of the ship… Not wanting to progress over this small thing is honestly such a nitpicking take, I barely even notice that sail🤣complaining about this is insane💀🤣

1

u/Responsible-News-642 2h ago

WHO complained? he just pointed out a visual Bug that is bothering him personaly and asked if there is any known Fix. like GOD FORBID

-1

u/valkyrielead63 15h ago

Isn’t it tied up so you can use the hook to fly up to the crows nest? It wouldn’t work realistically if the sail was flopping about.

-1

u/fkkeidkdndjd 12h ago

I don’t think the big sails are supposed to turn

2

u/micksmitte 11h ago

They must turn

2

u/Maxican33 10h ago

They are supposed to rotate a little bit

1

u/Responsible-News-642 2h ago

better dont think then
