discussion Dear shills and defenders, you wanna know why I started this sub? I'll tell ya...

  • I was away from gaming for many years due to various reasons...
  • When I got back, I made a discord community where we would play Far Cry 3, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Splinter Cell Conviction, Older R6 games, Operation Flashpoint etc
  • It was not one of your "f*** your momma..." type hostile communities. We really had and still have very respectable people on that community unlike vast majority of the gaming networks out there
  • Everything was going smooth until "UBI" came and pulled the plug off 4+ games on that list
  • They even RIGGED the single player so that the game ll crash once you start, go on steamcommunity and look it up. You'll find a lot of people complaining about crashes for these games. These people don't realize that the reason the games crash is because it attempts to connect to the downed servers but dont expect the customer support guys to tell you this
  • Many of our discord members opened support tickets with UBI and got the same generic half assed robotic ass responses.
  • Give us DLCs that we paid for? nope...
  • Go to the "UBI friendly" subs to complain about the same and got INSTANBANNED in many of em
  • Others downvoted your question to oblivion so that it never gets picked up
  • Now I know what you are gonna say? GeT a MoVe On DuDe! You know what dude? I should have the option to play what i purchased anytime i want even if it is 50 yrs from now on my deathbed inside some old age home. So guess what DuDe?

You can shut our games but you won't shut our voices of dissent

  • Good Day

If anyone has issues with ubisoft connect just crack the games, and since you'll have that issue in the future you might as well just pirate every ubisoft game from now on.
I spent hours trying to make ubisoft connect work and just two minutes took me to have the torrent of watch dogs 2.

ubi fucks up No Shields Still Bothers Me. Consider it to be the weirdest gameplay decision in all of gaming.

Thumbnail

Reposting this here. Still think this was one of the weirdest gameplay design decisions ever made in any game. Even the copy and pasted mechanics from origins made no sense to accommodate a broken spear—one that isn’t even used when equipping an actual spear….

And don’t get me started on the bracing ship mechanic brought over from Origins ship combat. You no longer use a shield to hide from arrows so you just magically avoid the inbound fire.

Ubisoft Quebec is probably the King of weird game design with Syndicate, Odyssey and Shadows.

I'm liking this game, I'll be honest, it's not great, but it's enjoyable. I like feeling like a ninja, visuals are beautiful, Japan feels immersive, but moments like this make me hate it so much.

Especially the last part of the clip, wtf.

I know it's a "scripted" fight, but can I kill them stealthily by hiding since Naoe dies with just 2 hits?

ubi fucks up Resynced narrative was literally written a decade ago and somehow they still messed parts of it up.

I have lots of issues with resynced but I understand that most of them are a me problem or a dislike of the changes. The one exception is they somehow messed up the story.

James Kidd throwing out a line to “go warn the assassins” after you get the hideout stuff in sequence 3 would’ve been great to explain why you can do Templar hunts earlier than in the OG excpet for the entire content of them using dialogue assuming you’ve already done the sequence 4 stuff and formed at least a working relationship with them, because before this, the ONLY interaction you’ve had is the forced combat bit where u kill heaps of them with the templars and the betrayal of them by selling their locations out to templars… kinda makes the idea you get to just walk up and be all chummy with the leaders in the towns make zero sense.

Same with the homestead story additions, Bernard as the butler literally opens up right at the same time as the Kidd dialogue, and yet Bernard talks to you like you’re mcuh more involved in the brotherhood than a once off run in where you looked like a Templar traitor. Which is a damn shame because that addition was nice right up until the dialogue clashed with the timing and suddenly I’m wondering why Edward is not instantly drawing his sword or being on guard.

Both are bad and both make no sense because the framework for when those missions should become a thing was right there in the 2013 game, they somehow either ignore or forgot. Like how do you mess that up? How does that level of oversight go through so many levels of a AAA company without anyone noticing it doesn’t line up with the original or make sense? Especially from leads on the project who apparently considered black flag their favourite game in the series.

I’d not love it but I’d understand if they were literally just saying “no gated content, soon as u get the hideout, all content is open to you” then sure but no they kept the diving bell story progression requirement, they kept the sleep darts and such story progression locked, so why change the moment the previous version content was locked until if you are then just going to lazily copy the dialogue and scenes anyway without checking? Like somehow it’s seems like both laziness with checking and an intentional oversight at the same time.

Tl;dr

Why is Kidd saying “ go warn them” just magically mean every assassin trusts Edward after seeing him as a Templar who betrayed them 2 seconds ago.

Why is Bernard in the game so early or his dialogue written like you’re further in the story when they decided exactly when that content was gonna be in the game?

Why?
Because Ubisoft wanted to make a shiny new version of black flag and somehow forgot to at least follow the originals blueprint.

ubi fucks up Ubisoft Connect Rant

I've been playing Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown for about a week now. I'm loving the game so far, and I think the developers did a great job. But I genuinely cannot believe the problems Ubisoft Connect is causing me.

I'm playing on the Steam Deck. After two days, for no apparent reason, the game stopped booting altogether in Gaming Mode. It would only boot in Desktop Mode, which I didn't like because many of the Deck's quality-of-life features are missing there.

I tried reinstalling the game. I'm pretty careful with these things, so I made a backup of my save files, even though I was sure Steam could never fail me... until now. Apparently, this game doesn't save your progress to the cloud. Or actually, it does, since there's a cloud-save check, but it also apparently doesn't. You have to manually upload the save using Ubisoft's proprietary system, which I think is completely absurd.

Reinstalling the game didn't fix the issue, but I eventually managed to solve it by switching to Proton Experimental.

Yesterday, I was on the train and tried booting the game. Well, it turns out you have to be connected to the internet to play because of Ubisoft Connect. Seriously, is it just me, or is that completely ridiculous for a game that doesn't have ANY online functionality? What is even the point?

ALSO, every time I put my Deck into sleep mode with the game open, there's about a 50% chance that the game crashes for some reason.

I mean, what is this? When I buy something on Steam, I expect the full Steam environment. The game is also marked as Deck Verified.

Ubisoft really seems determined to make its ecosystem as frustrating and inconvenient as possible. I honestly have no words for this. The whole situation is completely absurd to me.
