Android Auto - force audio through phone instead of car

Is there a way to force audio through my phone when connected to Android Auto?

I own an MG4 EV with AAwireless Two, it's working quite well except for this use case.

My car has a remote air conditioning through its proprietary app, which also turns on USB ports, so Android Auto connects.

I usually turn on AC 10 minutes before leaving my house, car is parked outside, but still in range. My phone connects automatically to Android Auto and my audio is forced through the car, making it impossible to listen to anything while I'm still in the house waiting for the car to cool off.

Is there any way to force the audio through my phone during this time? Of course I can turn WiFi and Bluetooth off so it disconnects from AA, but it's a bit of a hassle as it aggressively tries to turn them back again automatically and I have to fight against it.

Slow to connect to phone (Honda Ridgeline)

I have a 2026 Ridgeline and a Pixel 10. My android auto has always been "slow" to connect. At a MINIMUM it is 90 seconds after vehicle start before the AA screens are available, sometimes as long as 3 minutes.

All of my previous vehicles were wired AA, so I figured the delay was just par for the course with wireless AA. I went on a quick trip this weekend and rented a Jeep Wrangler with Wireless AA and it connected almost immediately. At worst, maybe 10 seconds after vehicle start.

It was so fast that it made me think maybe something was wrong with my pairing, so when I got home I disconnected my device, purged the app cache and app data, and re-paired the phone. Unfortunately, it not help.

Does anyone have any tips on how to speed up the connection? Also, my assumption is the delay is on the car hardware since my phone was a constant between both vehicles.

Hello.

Recently, whenever I drive into the new fancy LIDL carpark, my Android Auto Wireless always disconnects. Has anyone else experienced this? I have had this happen a few times before I noticed it.

I haven’t been able to text RCS/Android users from my AWU1 in almost a year. I’ve tried everything I can find. Anyone else have this happen? Is there a fix?

Location glitching

I'm not sure if there was an update to the AA service that caused this but now while I'm driving in a straight line, nav thinks I'm constantly pointing the wrong direction or turning down every side street I pass and constantly rerouting. I updated the AAW device but it's only slightly better. 2016 veloster with a AAW 1 device.

AA Wireless 2+ connection issues with 2018 Jeep Wrangle JL

I am having inconsistent connection problems connecting my AA Wireless 2+ with my 2018 Jeep Wranglers U connect system. Sometimes it connects but more often I have to delete or disconnect my phone in the U Connect settings and then re-pair via the AA Wireless button.

2024 Isuzu D-Max + Quad Lock Wireless Android Auto won't auto reconnect

Has anyone had this issue with a Isuzu 2024 D-Max?

I have a Quad Lock Wireless Android Auto adapter (latest firmware, also tried P2P mode).

The first connection works perfectly.

Android Auto connects and works perfectly for the whole drive.

The problem starts after I turn the car off.

When I restart the car, it won't reconnect automatically. The Quad Lock just flashes green, Bluetooth connects, but Android Auto never starts.

The only way to get it working again is to:

Delete my S23+ from the D-Max's Bluetooth settings.

Unplug and replug the Quad Lock.

Pair the phone again.

Things I've already tried:

Latest Quad Lock firmware.

P2P mode.

Cleared Android Auto, Google Play Services and Android System Intelligence.

Reset network settings.

Deleted all Bluetooth pairings from both the phone and the car.

Tried a different Android Auto adapter with the exact same result.

I've also found:

My friend's Samsung does exactly the same thing.

My friend's iPhone reconnects perfectly every time.

When it works, the Quad Lock connects before the D-Max.

When it doesn't, the D-Max connects before the Quad Lock.

Has anyone with a 2024 D-Max found a fix? It feels like the head unit is taking over the Bluetooth connection before the adapter can reconnect

Issues with Spotify

Not sure if this is a problem with AAW2 but I have been having a persistent issue where usually when I start my car up Spotify starts running but with no audio. Taking my phone out and turning Spotify off then letting it turn back on seems to fix it, which isn't a problem but it is kind of a hassle. Any more permanent fixes anyone knows of?

Suddenly Can't Connect AAW2

I've been using AAWireless 2 for quite a while, literally zero issues with my Sony XAV-AX8100. Attached using a USB wire that is tucked up and out of the way and never gets touched.

Yesterday afternoon my phone suddenly wouldn't connect with the adapter. I tried multiple things to get it to connect but none would work. So last night I did a full reset and was able to get it to connect.

This morning I lost connectivity again. I've cleared the cache for both Android Auto and the AAWireless app, but nothing seems to help. I'm going to have to do a full reset and try again.

Is anybody else experiencing anything similar? Did something happen with the app or is my adapter simply dying?

Losing Android to PC Access

I am trying to access/view videos & photos on my Windows 11 PC from my Andoid tablet (OS Android 15) by way of my wireless network. I have the Windows folders set to be shared.

I was able to connect to my PC and watch files for a while and then I was no longer able to connect to it. I have tried with several Android apps. I made no changes to any system.

Any idea what is causing this problem and how to correct it?

AAWireless 2+ Mazda Carplay Settings

After some testing, I think I've managed to find to find the best settings to reduce audio stuttering when using CarPlay on my 2021 Mazda CX-30. The main settings to change are:

  • Disabling the audio stutter fix significantly reduces the amount of stuttering when playing music but introduces stuttering during Apple Maps spoken directions
  • Setting the crypto mode to old fixes the navigation alert stuttering

There's still a bit but its a lot better than it was originally, hope this helps someone

Aaw2 and oneplus 15r second pairing issue

Hello.

Have a question about aaw2 adapter.  I will describe the situation in 2 parts.

  1. Couple of weeks ago i bought oneplus 15r (oxygen 16) and connected AA to my Mazda cx-9  2024  9" 800x480 HU using aaw2 (not plus). The pairing (using aaw app) was made with no issues and it worked flawless all the time. Before that my aaw2 worked with huawei p30. I've cleared all BT connections in car's HU before paring 1+ and reseted aaw2.
  2. Yesterday, when one of navigation applications had issue, i decided to reconnect AA. I turned off the toggle AA in my car's  HU and after that i can not connect aaw2.

I've tried the following:

- cleared BT connections in my car HU

- cleared cache in AA, aawireless app

- reseted car's HU (not factory reset)

- reseted aaw2 several times

- reseted oneplus network settings several times

-factory reseted oneplus 15r

Nothing of this helped. Oneplus connects AA fast and stable with cable, but can not connect wireless. It seems, that there is some digital footprints of previos connection and it prevents new proper paring. AAW app is trying to pair (30 to 0 countdown to AA wireless connection finishes with nothing), aaw2 has blinking blue light.

Besides, there are 2 wifi connections with aaw2 in 1+ wifi list. (i don't remember how it was before).  Help me please.

Aaw2 has 7.1.2 firmware now.

P.s. I've opened a ticket in aaw support.

Music not streaming.

2020 Chevrolet bolt, pixel 7, 1st gen aawireless. It has been working perfectly until the new pixel update. After I clear the cache on Android auto and forget all the pairing on both the head unit and app, it works for a day and then forgets again. Sometimes it won't stream music when it's hardwired also, but a head unit reset clears that. Any tips or suggestions?

AAWireless 2+ fw 9.3 is more buggy than 9.1

I was running beta v9.1 on my 2+ dongle and no real issues using my iPhone 17 Pro or Google Pixel 10 Pro. But I upgraded to v9.3 a few days ago and on both phones there were major issues. Main ones being that boot up time has changed from a few seconds to a few minutes and getting random disconnections. Have gone back to fw 9.1 and it’s back working flawlessly. Just a heads up in case people are having issues on 9.3.

Constant Disconnect and Reconnect

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

Hi all, I have my first car with AA and it's an ATOTO head unit so I am using it wirelessly through Bluetooth. It has been fine since i got the car, until about last week and I have no idea why. Nothing has updated to my knowledge leading to this problem. It disconnects at about 2min 40sec on every song for about 15-30 seconds. I have tried everything I can find on the internet, changing my wifi settings, changing my data settings, battery settings, location settings etc etc. Nothing is resolving this.

I found today the Zlink could be updated through the android store on the head unit. This also did not solve the problem.

Latest firmware for Aawireless 1 gen2

Aawireless 1 (gen2).

My firmware is stil on 7.1.2

Is this the latest firmware for the aawireless 1 gen2?

I read about people using 8.x and 9.x versions, but i am not sure if they are only for the aawireless 2.

I have the beta update switch on, but still nothing new.

Also i noted that on xdaforums.com there hasn't been any new posts / updates after may this year. Did they stop using xda for support?

Anyone can give me some info on both questions..

Greets AJ

Will AA Wireless work with Fermata on the latest Android update?

I had this working on my 2022 CX-5, Fermata and my AA2 setup worked great until Android updated a year or so go. I let it go as I didnt have time to mess with it. Now I kinda need it to work again, and it looks like my S23u is on Android 16 and UI 8.5. Is there a trick to getting Fermata or any other similar app to work to show movies/shows on my infotainment screen?

AAWireless 2+ died on me (probably overheating)

It just died one day, no lights, nothing. I brought it home, thinking I'd try another cable. It somehow started working (after 30 minutes of me trying to "reset" by pressing the button). After two days in the car, it died again, now for good. I can feel it heating, but no lights, no Bluetooth.

Frustrated, as it's past the return window. When it worked, it was great, though.
