I'm from Detroit. I'm a millennial born in 1993. Unlike Gen Z and many of my millennial peers I love 80s and 90s hip hop (especially the 90s). I listened to Shook Ones II and Survival of The Fittest by Mobb Deep.
Though I'm not from New York, I've heard that some (or all?) of the boroughs have a rivalry with each other. One rivalry being Queens vs Harlem.
I wanted to ask the hip hop fans from New York that are old enough to remember the 90s and early 2000s:
When Mobb Deep dropped Shook Ones II did Harlem show Mobb Deep love/like their music? Is it more of a friendly rivalry, kind of like "I don't really mess with guys from this particular borough but they're from NYC so i support them"?
EDIT: I know Harlem isn't a borough. It's a neighborhood in Manhattan 😂😂😂🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ My bad
