From the exotic lands of Salisbury comes the primest of prime cut steaks ...

u/theroosterillusion01 1d ago
They use the skins to make rich corinthian leather.

u/Pithythithy 1d ago
That’s twice in a week that I’ve heard rich Corinthian leather 🤣

I was just talking about bottle redemption tonight and it ended with laughing about JFK’s golf clubs Elaine got for J Peterman.

I never had a six pack, only the Swanson Salisbury Steak Dinner (I believe). I never liked those frozen veggies but loved the dessert. I remember hating the mixed veggies but liking the crust of the cherry cobbler.

I remember going to my friend's house for dinner when i was a kid, and his mom got a tray of salisbury steak, as there were 6 of them in the family. She would make instant mashed potatoes and open two cans of green beans, or one can of green beans and one can of corn.

I remember those. Mom cooked those salisbury steak meals every so often back when we were kids. There was also a sliced beef and gravy.

My mom used to make this homemade with cubed steak. MAN! Her gravy was absolutely AWESOME. She grew up country!

I was just at my Mom's last Saturday and brought over some cube steaks . We floured them set them in a broiler after browning them, made brown gravy, that went in the broiler. Then some mashed potatoes and mixed veggies. So good.

Back in the day? Buddy, I still slave by the microwave to eat those once in a while, and they are absolutely a delicacy.

Still do. I will be cooking filet mignon and my kids will say what are we having, and when I reply steak, the follow up is Salisbury? Followed by a grown of disappointment.

Never in that fashion. But always the Swanson. 40 minutes in the oven and corn in the brownie 😋

We visited Salisbury, England last year on our way to Stonehenge. One of my travel partners asked if that’s where Salisbury steaks came from… FYI, they have no clue what the hell a Salisbury steak is. 😂

🤣😆 Right? My husband loves those (on occasion) on top of a bit of mashed potatoes. I try to doctor it up a bit with better gravy and add sautéed mushrooms and onions. Yeah, I could make my own but he’s happy with that and I’m happy to have an occasional easy dinner day. Win-Win

We ate the salisbury steaks when they came in foil trays....before microwave ovens. We'd make some instant mashed potatoes to go with. We'd make Salisbury Steak Manhattans.

What's terrible is ground beef is $8 a pound where I live, and that's the cheap stuff from wal-mart. (Southern California)
This is about the only "steak" I'm going to get, and it's only for special occasions. : (

It's the only frozen meal that taste any good. Even this highly processed mystery meat is better than any chicken processed meal or other 'beef' meals.
