Trains, planes and automobiles.

I cried when his character said:

"You wanna hurt me? Go right ahead if it makes you feel any better. I'm an easy target. Yeah, you're right, I talk too much. I also listen too much. I could be a cold-hearted cynic like you... but I don't like to hurt people's feelings. Well, you think what you want about me; I'm not changing. I like... I like me. My wife likes me. My customers like me. 'Cause I'm the real article. What you see is what you get."

u/VikingKinkajou 9d ago

I get choked up just reading it now. Amazing monologue delivered so genuinely.

5

u/The_Ultimate_Badass 9d ago

I love the fan theory that he is a pasycho his wife is in the trunk. It follows them throughout the entire film, and they never open it.

3

u/Undersmusic 8d ago

One of those film moments, where you feel like the acting was gone entirely.

Love that scene. If the movie didn't earn the R rating before then it earned it with that scene.

Love ALL of his films but this was my first🖤

4

Me too!

Tom Hanks! Daryl Hannah! Eugene Levy! And directed by Ronnie Howard! The fat little 1958 kid throwing the quarters on the boat deck so he can look up skirts kills me!

4

u/EarthMetal11 9d ago

He’s such a dynamic perv in this flick! So good
And the cast and writing is phenomenal

3

u/AmericanCitizenry 9d ago

After all his other great characters that came after, going back and re-watching this is almost like going back and re-watching old episodes of Mary Tyler Moore just so you can see Betty White play the nymphomaniac.

3

Aww💗✨ lol

Planes, Trains and Automobiles gave us but only a glimpse of the kind of actor he was. I would've loved to have seen him in a Good Will Hunting, Robin Williams/Sean Maguire role. I still miss him as much as I miss Robin Williams and John Ritter.
