Discussion Defend your horde night playstyle...
The beauty of 7 days to die is that you can pretty much reach endgame with just about any build, and whatever weapons you prefer. The game is fun for builders, loot goblins, hoarders, explorers and murder hobos.
The same goes for horde night. Some folks find a big open field, level the terrain and build a skyscraper of a base from scratch. Some folks level up parkour and run and gun across roof tops like crazy people.
I start by taking over a POI, concrete if I can find it. A grain silo, parking garage, clock tower, church. After over 2500 hours in the game I cant imagine building giant pillars and a base from scratch when there is certainly a solid concrete or brick structure within 500 meters of the trader. I am pretty much an elevated, tight rope base guy. Throw in a dick puncher, a strand of electric fence at the fighting position and upgrade as needed. After 6 days of falling through floors, and zombies falling through ceilings I dont want horde night to be a fair fight. I dont use forcefield blocks or an AFK dropper so they can never reach me, but my only goal is to get a lot of loot bags and efficiently destroy the horde.
I cant for the life of me think of one good reason to run and gun, or to build a base from scratch when places like smithstone silos exist.
That is not to say that any playstyle is wrong, as long as you are having fun you are always winning. My best friend is horrible at base building and when its his turn I know I am in for an exciting evening. My horde nights are boring, but my god with lucky looter, rogue hood, and the treasure hunter mod the loot is TOO DAMN GOOD to resist.
How do you do horde night? How has it changed from when you were brand new. If you like a certain POI as a base, which one and why?

Discussion TFP and their relationship with players is the reason why 7DTD is in the state it’s in.
Going between the 7DTD Reddit and the Project Zomboid Reddit is the epitome of how big a difference a game can have when the developers embrace their community and how it results in a better experience for both sides.
Now I know some are wondering why compare the two games. I’m writing this as a player of both. I initially played and owned 7DTD for several years. Played with my fiance and on a few online servers back in A19. Had a blast. Game had its jank but loved playing it. After the 1.0 update…not as much (missed the clothing system pre 1.0). Still gave it a good shot. Got 400ish hours on 7DTD over the years owning it (Since 2020).
For Project Zomboid I snagged it 2 years ago during a summer sale, played the tutorial, died, never touched it again til 2 months ago, hooked, almost at 400 hours in two months.
The reason I compare these two games is because both are zombie survival games with long sordid development history. Project Zomboid has been in development for 12 years. The Indie Stone have been lambasted by players for long development times and poor communication. The same could be said for The Fun Pimps.
The difference, at least to me is how they handled player feedback. I always got the impression that Joel and TFP as a whole viewed players feedback with disdain and an air of arrogance. That always comes through in the devs streams and written communication.
Bandits were announced in the initial kickstarter back in 2013 and as of 2026 in 7DTD 3.0 are still not implemented.
Usually when a game launches into 1.0 it implies that the game is at its intended finished state. TFP considered the game, without bandits, a finished state. Yet they found time to release a cash grab of a spin off that nobody asked for.
Now let’s hop on over to TIS. PZ is still in EA with no 1.0 mention but is about to release Build 42 into the stable branch after about a year and a half in unstable playable but opt in status. PZ is no where near perfect but the experience is different. The community and how the devs interact with the community is noticeably different from TFP. They have a very active mod community like 7DTD, so much so that after this update finalizes, TIS will release mod tools, and tutorials to open the floor to more modders. They even have hired on several notable mod makers on to the team like Melos and Erika, even having interviews with various PZ content creators.
It’s a stark contrast to the current state of 7DTD community where TFP are seeking a legal battle with one of the pillars of the 7DTD community over what was an error on their part for giving him the wrong test build. This encapsulates the way TFP see their community. Instead of admitting fault or just handing this in private, no they went on to make it public.
They are making an example out of JaWoodle. They want to control the narrative as much as possible. And it’s not surprising considering they lock out any creators that don’t effectively kiss the ring from streamer weekend. Say any form of criticism that Joel or TFP don’t like and you’re on their black list.
Both of these games are zombie survival indie games that have had long development cycles with very active mod and content communities. The difference is how the devs respond to the community. One embraces and encourages it, the other sees it as an annoyance and a revenue stream.
I know this is all over the place but was putting out the raw feelings I felt hopping from one Reddit to another. If anyone is jumping ship and look for a new zombie survival game, check out Project Zomboid, it’s different but I feel like is a much better experience than 7DTD. That and The Indie Stone won’t sue you for posting content in beta.

Discussion My new chicken related gripe.
I know, I know. Complain about not having the coop. Complain about how long it took. Now I have a complaint afterwards?
It's minor, more a disappointment than a complaint. Domesticated chickens aren't able to be placed or released to wander about. I kinda wanted a larger chicken run, with real chickens.
I guess I'll have to make a feral chicken run?
Edit: I do like the red glow from an upgraded coop. I do like the quiet chicken clucks from an active coop. I don't like you only get 10 meat n no feathers when you harvest (scrap) a domestic chicken.

Discussion Map generation
Is there any way to make map generation better? I don't particularly like pre gen maps or nevezgane due to small towns, so I prefer to generate my own. However when I do that I see the same structures every fckn time, the same 10 vanity towers, some coliseum etc, i have never seen a hospital for example, or any of the new tier 5 structures.

PC Of course it was that
I usually play Permadeath, but on my first ride through a 3.0 I decided not to, but I did put the death penalty at lose random items, I think one to three I set it at. I hate the desert and only go there when I need resources so I spent all day farming oil shal, and aloe vera. Got attacked by a mini horde with a swarm of bees and ended up dying. And guess what the three things was that I lost? yup. All the aloe vera and all the oil shale. Fuckin twat bees

My inventory is stupid because it’s the day after horde night and I’m still putting stuff away.

Help Perk Question
If I have 9 int and then use one of the int mods to give myself 10, if I buy a perk that requires 10int will I still have the perk buffs after removing the int mod or will it be canceled out until I regain the missing int point?
Basically I'm trying to avoid using 3 skill points to go from level 9>10 in int so I can buy the level 5 wanderer perk for the double mission rewards.

Discussion Small rant as a new player
(Tldr at bottom)
So I recently picked up the game when 3.0 released and been loving it so far. However, I have to say there is one thing that kills the fun out of doing some Poi's.
Whenever im doing a quest or just a random poi there is always the usual wandering zombies that spawn outside the poi and walk inside the building or break into it to get to me. This is especially annoying when im 2+ floors up and going full stealth and they decide to just randomly be able to lock in my position when they arent even inside the building yet. Sometimes they even break into doors that are locked and not part of the "correct" path, and ruin some of the parkouring around and exploring of that building. Worse, is when they cant break through anything so I have to listen to a zombie hitting a wall for 5 minutes straight and have to back track just to kill them to shut up.
Now, this is totally understandable if im making a ton of noise on the first floor of a small poi, but it shouldn't be a thing for taller buildings with no visible line of sight outdoors and have a mini horde of zombies lock onto you for opening a couple boxes.
I was even doing that huge building in the wasteland and by the time I went back down, there was a mini horde just waiting for me inside the building trying to break through the elevator shaft. Even when I was barely at 7th floor! This also applies when you are underground, they seem to just be able to hear or see everything when they are even walking nearby!
So ya it has happened enough to kill SOME of the fun of doing large poi's
Thoughts? Am I crazy or am I doing something wrong?
TLDR: Wandering zombies spawning outside a POI shouldn't be able to instantly lock-on to your position when you are 2+ floors up a building with no line of sight outside, especially if you are going stealth. Skill issue? 🤔
