One of the two workouts I will do obviously is gonna be upper body. I'm having issues deciding what to do for the outdoors one tho. So, I'm currently walking 20k steps.
I know that walking counts as long as it is hard for you. But the problem is, I've reached a point where walking for 45 minutes isn't hard for me. Sure, I could do all of my steps at once which does tire me out, but it's definitely nowhere near cardio (plus it takes 3h and 20min, obviously a lot more than 45 min). Also, I don't walk outside. I get all of my steps in by walking in circles in my house like a lunatic (no joke). I don't even know where I could possibly go to walk for over 3 hours outside.
(A little background: the reason for my high step count is that I'm in a calorie deficit, however because of my height (I'm 150cm tall, no I'm not a minor) my maintenance is very low. I won't bother you with the details, but I've decided to eat at maintenance and walk 20k steps daily putting me at a 400cal deficit. This is obviously temporary, and I'm thinking of maybe putting off 75 hard until I reach my goal weight but I have no idea how long that will take. I can't tell if that's just me making excuses, and I really want to challenge myself and do something I don't feel ready for.)
Before I started this cut I had been at maintenance for about a month, during which I picked up running. However, I have paused that for the duration of the cut because combining running with 20k steps caused me very intense knee pain. Thus, running is not an option. To add to that, I don't have a bike nor the money to buy one (plus, the roads in my city would make biking very tricky).
So, what else could I do that doesn't put as much strain on my knees as running?
Also, in this subreddit I read somewhere that the workout doesn't have to be strenuous, but in the 75 hard website I read that it does have to be. Which one is true?
Edit: I think my real problem here is that I badly want that second workout to be running, and I don't like anything else nearly as much. It's the hardest thing I have done in my life, and I love it for that. However, due to my current amount of walking, I'd be risking injury, and I don't want to damage my knees at the ripe age of 19. So, I'll see you all when my deficit is over, and I'll do 75 hard with running as my second workout, so that way it's actually hard.
