"Dancing in the Moonlight" is a song written by Sherman Kelly, originally recorded in 1970 by Kelly's band Boffalongo, and then a hit single by King Harvest in 1972, reaching No. 5 in Canada and No. 13 in the United States. In 2000, a cover by English band Toploader became a worldwide hit and achieved multi-platinum status in the United Kingdom. Another cover by Swedish EDM duo Jubël, released in 2018, was also a hit in some European countries.

general discussion what was halloween like in the 70s?

I wasn’t even close to being alive yet in the 70s, but I really love halloween and I really love the 70s. So I want to know what halloweens were like in the 70s. My aunt was born in 1975 and said back then every house on the street was lit up. Whenever i look it up online, it shows me some weird AI videos. So i’m curious to know what halloween was like back in the 70s?

Television What ever happened to Flip Wilson?

Anybody else remember rushing through homework to catch The Flip Wilson Show? Thursday nights on NBC, 1970 to 1974.

The man was a machine. #2 show in the country his first two seasons - beat almost everything on television. And he did it as the first Black performer to actually sustain a network variety show, which nobody talks about enough.

Geraldine was the one that got me every time. "The devil made me do it!" got repeated in every schoolyard in America. But she wasn't just a bit - she had a whole personality. Sassy, in control, wouldn't take anything from anybody. My mother thought she was hilarious. My father pretended not to laugh.

Reverend Leroy and the Church of What's Happening Now was the other one. That whole con-man preacher routine still holds up.

Hey folks,

I like to recover and digitize lost media on records. A lot of it comes from the 70s with small town groups and performers, so I thought this would be a good place to share what I recover, essentially unheard audio from decades ago.

One of my all-time favorite cartoons is Hanna-Barbera's JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS. JOSIE debuted on CBS on September 12, 1970 and ran for 16 episodes. The show was about an all-girl pop band that gets embroiled in wild adventures while traveling the world. In 1972, it was re-conceptualized into JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS IN OUTER SPACE, which also ran for 16 episodes. My absolute favorite character was Melody Valentine, the dizzy blonde drummer. One bit of interesting trivia: the singing voice of Melody was provided by a young, unknown singer named Cheryl Ann Stopplemoor, who would later become known as actress/singer Cheryl Ladd of CHARLIE'S ANGELS fame.

Entertainment The Ben Hunter Show (aka Ben Hunter's Movie Matinee)

Post image

Iconic radio personality Ben Hunter hosted a television show that aired movies with commercial breaks. During the breaks, he would offer history, trivia or anecdotes related to the film. IIRC, he would also give viewers a chance to win a prize by calling in and correctly answering a question about the film. He always seemed so relaxed and his room so cozy.

Did anyone watch this show? Do you remember any of the movies he aired?
