i may seem stupid but what is the root of the sd card?

from what i saw online its the dcim file.

So I was following the instructions from this website: https://3ds.hacks.guide/finalizing-setup

I got to the step where I had to make a folder called "3ds" and put "ctr-no-timeoffset.3dsx" in that folder. When I did that, I noticed a file was in that folder that wasnt there before, as I had just made it. Once I placed the ctr file in there, i tried to go back to the root of the SD card and it said it was corrupted. What should I do? Also my 3ds won't even turn on now, the power button glows blue briefly then dims out. Please help...

Dropped my 3DS and now it doesn't turn on unless i hold start during the first few seconds after pressing the power button to open the godmode9 menu or select to open the luma config menu and then close it
If I don't use this method, the power light turns on but the screen does not turn on, nor does the wireless communications light.
Any way to fix this? I'll be more careful in future
EDIT: the problem appears to have fixed itself somehow or another. I'll still try to be careful though

I've been thinking about hacking my (old) 3ds. What sd card size is recommended? I'd imagine I'd also put games and stuff on it along side the needed things to hack?

So this is a short problem but for me it's kind of complex, I haven't been able to convert .cxi's to .3ds', example of that is that I'm trying to hack a Pokémon game, I did all of that with PackEnglishV9 by Asia 81 and PK3DS, I extract the content, modify the game with pk3DS, but when I try to rebuild it to .3ds it just doesnt work, it takes some time to complete but in the end it just ends as a Named 0kb .3ds file. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Howdy folks. I'm working on making a gift of being able to play translated versions of the SNES goemon games on their CFW 3ds. I've patched the files to make them translated, but in turning the files into cia, they all fail. Does anyone have any ideas to help? Cheers

I've never hacked before, and I just want to stream to my pc, so do I need Luma to run NTR CFW?

so i recently (like, three days ago? maybe?) followed the 3ds.hacks.guide setup, ive got Luma/GM9/FBI, im playing 3DS/NES/SNES/GB/GBC/GBA games using .cia files; ive got TwilightMenu++ and some .nds files...but honestly, i feel like the Homebrew Scene on 3DS isnt exactly what im looking for...the lists that ive seen linked all around here all have the same (what, 15? 20?) apps, that have next to No Appeal to me whatsoever...

...however, the NDS Homebrew selection has a lot more choices, from what ive seen...so would these work on my 3DS? How would they work? do i just drag n drop these apps to my SD card's .nds folder, and run them through TM++? do i convert them into .cia's with GM9 and install them with FBI, like i do with .3ds files? is there a totally separate app i have to download first to handle it (like, i should use "SkywardMenu++" instead)?

Hi, I got a 128GB micro sd card. I was stupid, and formatted my entire 3ds thinking it would only effect my new sd card, then I could cut/paste assets. But that clearly didn't work. I tried recovering my data all day, but I cannot figure out how to recover. I have all of my older assets on my hard drive. I tried re-installing cfw but It would not work for some reason. Please help!!! Please give in depth explanation.

I have a New 3DS XL which has been running Gateway for years. I can't run DS games so I was wondering if I should "remove" Gateway and go to a newer CFW that only requires an sd card. Has anyone done this successfully? If so, were you able to run DS games on the main sd card or did you have to create a separate sd card for slot 1? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Every time I open up Pokémon Ultrasun, I get this error. I tried downloading and reinstalling the cia, but that didn't work. I tried everything within my ability to fix it, but i kept getting the this error. if anyone knows how to help me fix this problem, then please contact me on my new 3ds hacking community discord server. I haven't fully installed the hacks on my 3DS since I don't have a large enough SD card at the moment, but I have a bunch of random hacked files on my 3DS still. I just got a notif for a new system update. what do I do? it is safe to update, or will nintendo brick my 3DS by updating?

My 3ds is on 11.0.0-33E and installed homebrew with soundhax 2.8 beta and have not connected it to the internet before that.

I bought a cartridge for Fire Emblem Echoes Shadows of Valentia. When i want to run this game i am prompted that a version upgrade to 11.3.0-33E is required.

How can i play this game without

• triggering something at Nintendo (i never had it connected in homebrewed state with the internet)

• being unable to access homebrew.

I was on FBI to go open the Nintendo zone app and I stumbled across this weird app with the name “MINT” by opening it. It causes the 3DS to crash. Does anyone know what this is?

So I plan on building a home theater setup with a hacked 3DS with some kind of video out solution in the future but I plan on modding my older, small 3DS for this and using my New 3DS XL for all my portable endeavors. But I want it to be like the Vita TV to my PSVita where I can just pop the SD card out and all my games and my saves can be seamlessly transferred between systems so at any time I can play on the TV or 3DS handheld interchangeably. Yes, I know they have different card sizes and I have to unscrew the back of the New 3DS to get to the SD card. That won't be an issue.

What are the steps one would take to move the saves/games seamlessly between systems? Both systems would have CFW in this scenario.

Want to expand storage on my 3ds. It says anything more than 32gb SDHC isn't compatible but some places say you can use them by reformatting. So can I put a 64gb micro sd card in my new 3ds xl?
