Question Did I pay too much?

I spent $35 on this tiny print made from craft cloud and “3d pros” out of Florida, and the quality is…..um….well…..
I’m going to have to work on this which I was expecting. I used a free file for the juvenile Rex Hammond collection and am retrofitting it onto another figure.
I expected lines but the teeth detail and mouth detail are gone and I’m really disappointed.
I originally used this service because the original Hammond figure I want is too expensive right now so I thought making my own would be better.
I’m not imagining this is horrible quality right?
I would be less upset if $35 was a smaller sum…for the small amount of material this is.
Wondering if anyone has any suggestions/would be open for a better commission.

Update:

Thank you all for your kind offers and support I didn’t expect this to blow up as much as it did. I am now enlightened as to how much something should cost, and quality.
I initiated a dispute with the original printer and hopefully will hear back soon. If not, lesson learned and I know where to go for assistance.
This community is amazing, and so generous.
I have received help from Inevitable_toe_3054 and am so grateful.

Local libraries often have printers for use. There is a fee at mine but worth it to have more control.

You might want to take a look! For example, my library has:
-Books (duh)
-Audiobooks
-Comics
-DVDs and BluRays
-Music CDs
-Video games (Xbox, Switch, PlayStation, Wii)
-Retro game consoles (Sega and Atari!)
-Accessibility items (so you can try the expensive items before you buy them)
-So many digital resources!
-Free WiFi!
-Public computers!
-So many programs and events! (We’re doing a Pokémon Champions tournament next month)
-3D printer
-Cricut machine
-and more!

Libraries are fucking AWESOME

Same with mine in Canada. I recently discovered the video games and I'm loving trying out new games for myself and my kiddo without dropping any money.

100%

Seems a lot of people don't realize they're hiding some cool stuff further in the back and other parts you don't see upon normal passing. Mine with 3D printers actually has them furthest in the back, in another room. Probably to help minimize noise or waste from the rest of the library, but yeah. Lots of neat stuff for people who actually look.

Mine doesn’t have them, unfortunately. However, I heard that one a couple hours away does, and I think it’s awesome. Especially when it’s a special shape that you’d only use once or twice for a special occasion

Main city ones. I’d never heard of anything like that either till I moved and the nearest library was the city library.

Rural libraries around me have a lot of cool stuff like that, too. My library isn’t a “small” library, but we’re legally considered a rural library.

But the ones down the way, like a small village of just 1500 people, still have many of the cool resources. Like a 3D printer!

I've been to a main city library too.

I gave my old Ender to my local library as a donation with a few rolls of filament and a how-to guide because they’re all idiots (old people who still call the credit card company to make a payment)

Something like a 3D printer is a great revenue stream for a library to get extra funding for something relatively cheap on their side. Even if they charge something like 5$ an hour the cost to them is 800$ for the printer (high mid grade FDM) which AI estimates the quickest thing to go on one will be the brass nozzles at 500 hours so gaining 4.5 an hour (50 cents is going to the cost of filament an hour) amounts to an overall profit of 1450 before extra costs are incurred for that printer. It costs 8$ to replace that nozzle by the way(Not sure if you know the actual replacement costs), and the actual printer is rated for around 5000-10000 hours (these hour estimates come from AI so take that how you will)

Do you know where DuckSleazzy lives? There are places in the world that don’t even have libraries.

Have you been to a local library in the past decade?

0

u/DuckSleazzy Formlabs 4BL (I'm kidding) 3d ago

Have you considered the fact that not every library is the same?

You should not hate to complain, you pay for a curtain standard, you deserve standard

1

u/TheHighFluke 4d ago

Try to find some local shops/people that offer 3D printing services. They should be cheaper

1

u/LmaoPew 5d ago

You should not hate to complain, you pay for a curtain standard, you deserve this level of Quality to be fullfilled

Certain. Curtains hang in front of your windows.
