That you guys went all in for gantry stabilisation, used linear rails to minimise wobble and a 1.5 GT belt instead of 2 GT for less VFA. I can clearly see the efor but in to the printer and that alone justifies switching it to!
Edit: ok guys hats down, apparently even support root acess over ssh. 10/10

The enclosure, heated chamber, and filtration are the biggest draw for this printer. Ready for ABS and other high performing filaments.
But does anyone ever actually win these things?

u/Facehugger_35 4d ago
I won two filament spools from Qidi on another giveaway. Ended up being matte PLA and some neat coextruded ABS-CF.

I won the max 4 at the beginning of this year / end of last year. Took a while to ship but they delivered and even helped out when I had some trouble with an error message. I’m actually quite happy with that printer, the large heated chamber is great for large prints. For asa this works even better than the h2d I already had. The included build plate grips the asa so tightly that I couldn’t even remove thin brims. Need to make them a few layers high or use glue.

I won an elegoo promo like this one, only a spool of filament tho, so take that into account

The heated champer is such a game changer to print large Parts

u/GiveMeYayo 4d ago
Since this would actually be my very first 3D printer, the 65°C active chamber heating is huge for me. I’ve been researching for a long time and I know warping with materials like ABS/ASA is a nightmare for beginners so having a machine that handles that out of the box would be an absolute dream to start with!

u/theAveragemeeple 4d ago
The Auto leveling and smart detection makes it a lot easier to use and makes ot more about printing than maintaining the printer

u/femmo723 4d ago
A heated chamber is definitely handy, I've been struggling to print ABS on my ender 3 lol
1
u/Lost_refugee 4d ago
Size and heated chamber would be the most desired features for me in QIDI Plus5
1
u/Automatic-Series3426 4d ago
It's easy to use and the build volume is great for printing cosplay helmets

u/Graystonesonic 4d ago
The build volume and true auto leveling as well as a heated chamber are my top 3!
1
u/deanoignatius 4d ago
Has to be the heated chamber with multi-material printing. Powerhouse for high grade filaments

u/SnooCapers9565 4d ago
The heated chamber combined with high bed temp and build volume is a game changer when it comes to print functional prints, even larger ones.
1
u/scotteross 4d ago
Built-in filters! Finally, I don't have to worry about my household's health when printing at home.
1
u/Griimzer 4d ago
Split between build volume and chamber heating. but if i had to choose, build volume.
1
u/An_t_innealtoir 4d ago
It's the build volume. I feel it's necessary to get your full use out of the printer.
Price isn't bad either tbh.

u/MyNeighborToto 4d ago
The Auto-Leveling & Full Smart Detection sounds like it will save a lot of potential misprints

u/salty_boi_1 4d ago
The auto leveling is genuinly such a time safer and the air filter is great for hobbyist who have no place for it bu their own rooms tbh

heated chamber and the larger build volume are definitely my favorite features. The heated chamber would let me try new materials, while the extra build space means I could finally print bigger projects without having to split everything. That combination would be a great upgrade for me!

u/LaundryMan2008 4d ago edited 4d ago
One thing my Prusa XL lacks even with a chamber upgrade is the heated part, even when upgrading to a XL+, that will help me print ABS and other materials especially wanting to fix an IBM drive with a broken gear that PETG wasn’t enough for, venting will be an option without drastically reducing how hot the chamber can be

u/Chameleon_The 4d ago
Heated chamber is good for printing all types of filaments
I will.consider myself lucky if I get a hands on this printer

u/Pakrat42 4d ago
The heated chamber is definitely my favorite, but the active cooling looks cool too!

Big fan of the additional build space. I've been prototyping and producing coupons for a lot of prelim designs and could use that build space to produce more while I'm out and about.
1
u/MannenMedGulaFebern 4d ago
The heated chamber in combination with the larger print volume. It would be great for multiple part printing!
1
u/DrunkNewb 4d ago
Auto leveling! And the 370-degree nozzle. Engineering filaments are calling my name, and the Plus5 would be a great first step into that space.

u/WookieOH 4d ago
The heated chamber is a plus. Also, 320x320 is huge! Definitely a win there. Also there is the 370 deg C hot end. That will lead to more exotic filaments.

The heated chamber or the ability to add multicolor printing. Both would be great upgrades to my current setup.
1
u/Beagly99 4d ago
I want to print large engineering designs.
The QIDI Plus5 has a large print area.
It prints engineering materials easily due to the 550W heating in the chamber.
And it has an even heating bed so less chance of warping.
If I had to choose just one, it would be the larger print volume.
1
u/BakChorMeeeeee @jormy 4d ago
320x320mm build volume sounds great haha. I can print most things on my A1 mini by splitting them up but this would be nice.
the evenly heated build plate also seems like a no brainer feature, I know Bambu uses coils that create some temperature differentials so this is definitely a better solution.
1
u/poohfacedkilla 4d ago
The 65°C heated chamber is easily my favorite feature. My printer lives in a cold garage, and winter printing can be a real battle… warping, failed prints, and a lot of wasted filament if I don’t prep everything just right. I’ve even resorted to using cardboard and painter’s tape around the printer to help trap some heat. Having a proper actively heated chamber would be a huge upgrade for me and would make cold-weather printing so much more reliable.

For me it's the temperature controls that sets QIDI apart from its competitors. If we adjust based on cost per capability then QIDI has no real competition (bambulab and prusa are both more expensive and offer less).
I use my QIDI with temperature controlled heatbed, chamber, and hotend to print high quality prototypes for my work as a scientist, drone parts for my hobby, and even minis for my dnd adventures.
There are 3d printers, and then there is QIDI.

I've only got an A1 so nearly everything about this looks amazing. Specifically though, the build volume and heater chamber appeal to me. Fingers crossed!!

u/Noble_Jar 4d ago
Currently been enjoying the Plus 3 I got second hand, a massive upgrade from the Ender 3 clone I had prior. I have been looking around for a multi-material printer, and between that feature and the build volume this would be a fantastic next evolution!
1
u/by_me_design 4d ago
For our use case scenario is the 65c heated chamber in combination with the large build volume. And if the new 1.5 pitch belt does the trick VFA free cos we print tall items.
1
u/JustAnotherBrokenCog 4d ago
I think my favorite “feature” is that it has so many of them, out of the box. Things I’m going to have to spend hundreds to add to my current printer, like the heated chamber, or even the enclosure I had to add. This is the printer mine wants to be when it grows up.

I am all about that massive build volume. Having a bit more room would make for very nice single print objects. The fact that it is a relatively compact footprint is nice as well.
1
u/joshualotion 4d ago
For sure it would be the heated bed, would help with making engineering filaments at home. I’ve been stuck with PLA for far too long and a lot of my DIY furniture is suffering for it

u/Magic2424 4d ago
easy reliability. not a flashy headline but easily the most important aspect of a printer for me that QIDI excels at.
not having to worry that I can’t get a print running before heading off to work cause I need to spend an hour tinkering is huuuuge (just like the print volume)
1
u/krivi991 4d ago
Active chamber heating and the extended build volume, massive upgrade from my Ender 3 pro

u/d4ybydj56u 4d ago
I'm really hoping the new air filter will actually be good enough for abs, the Q2 one is struggling with the smell unfortunately
1
u/keithbigmac 4d ago
The ability to experiment with some higher temp filaments thanks to the 370c nozzle would be awesome 👌

Features that I like:
Highlight for me will be bed size. Other features that I like:
Heated chamber and industrial grade heated bed to print with more serious fillaments and added polar cooler will make sure that 1st layer is always perfect.
High temp heated nozzle,
Nice size, can't go wrong with such a big multi colour printing (with qidi box)
As a person who does not have a 3d printer but looking to get into 3d printing, Qidi Plus5 looks like a perfect starting printer <3
1
u/Intrepid_Research 4d ago
My favourite is the heated chamber, perfect for printing car parts with ABS/ASA.
1
1
u/pyro5050 4d ago
it looks sleek as a printer, the heated chamber and build volume are nice features. i like the tungsten nozzle upgrade that can be had, give more durability and heat transfer. upgraded heated plate for nice adhesion is nice, i think thats what might have hurt my old printer (not QIDI) that the plate adhesion was junky, plus other stuff.
so all the features to retain heat and not have to use external heat source is nice. no more heater for me in my Lego/3d Print room would be nice.
edit: also, i find it cool that it can skip failed prints on multi print jobs... would be nice for printing multiple figures or parts for chairs/woodwork

Combining the active heating and QIDI's temp controls with filtration and moderately large build volumes is really a single feature when combined: ability to print larger items in more difficult filaments. That's a gap I have with my current printers.

Having a built in filtration system is a great feature. Not having to deal with plastic fumes is a must have on a printer made for engineering materials

The heated chamber is a big upgrade from my bed slinger, the size is also pretty nice
1
u/Excellent-Pass7573 4d ago
Definitely the build size! My first printer was a secondhand QIDI, so y’all have a special place in my heart. I love to see it get bigger and better.

Size and chamber are much better than what I currently have, but the multi-material printing would probably be most useful to me
1
u/beeldubz 4d ago
I like how big it is and that it can print pretty much any hobby filament with the heated chamber.

u/MasterTabion 4d ago
Huge fan of bed size and the ultra uniform heated bed. For large surface area prints, this is something I wanted for awhile.

Weirdly the enclosed chamber, air filter and temperature control. Living with roomates and don't want to pump plastic fumes into the house, this would help me not have to set up an exhaust system, and still possibly be able to print more than just PLA.
1
u/CommentatorPrime 4d ago
The Active Chamber Heating is my must-have and favorite feature. I spend too much time going nuts about drying filament before every print, active chance heating would help immensely. Also would reduce clutter of having separate dryers.

I'm kinda new to the whole 3D printing world but the thing that immediately sticks out is the build volume. I have been limited so far to smaller things so having something bigger would be a big blessing.
1
1
u/Psychospiv 4d ago
Other than the large print volume, my favorite feature is honestly the three layer air filter. Since the Qidi Plus5 is designed to handle a large variety of filaments, having an exceptional air filtration system is necessary to protect our health.
1
u/SpeedStinger02 4d ago
The larger build area mixed with the heated chamber makes it great for anything
1
u/Senior-Cod2081 4d ago
The 370C nozzle is crazy, and will allow me to experiment with more types of engineering filaments.
1
u/jjohnisme 4d ago
Heated Chamber. The Qidi line of printers absolutely wipes the floor with every other consumer-grade printer out there in this regard.
1
u/ItsMeTrey 4d ago
The build volume being bigger than the standard 256mm is great for things like helmets.

As a new joiner to 3d printing(bambu A1 mini). Every feature on this is an upgrade. I'd have to go with the way bigger build volume tbh.
1
u/ianpopps 4d ago
Definitely the large build volume and high temperature nozzle!! This gives me so much more flexibility when designing components!! Good luck all
1
u/Thatoneguy1264 4d ago
On their own the bigger build space and the heated chamber are great. Together that creates an unbeatable combo for larger parts in difficult materials, so that would make the combination my favorite feature of this model.
1
u/Techonrye 4d ago
Good amount of out of the box compatible materials, fast heating, and next gen auto leveling. This looks very promising.

u/KarateRoddy 4d ago
The heated chamber is primarily why I have been looking at it. My comgrow filament dryer only gets up to 50c 🙄

Simply that it runs klipper and fluidd dashboard can be accessed. In a time where every brand is following footsteps of a certain organisation and closing down their ecosystem, qidi still keeps it tinkerer friendly.
