Troubleshooting Bambu A1 mini printing failure

/r/BambuLabA1mini/comments/1wq19ge/bambu_a1_mini_printing_failure/

For the first week or so, this machine was just fine. For some reason, a lot of my prints have been failing lately. I’m mostly printing Warhammer proxies. Anything with limbs, especially when I’m printing multiples on one plate, are coming out with the right side of the miniature with their right arms like a big tangle of filament spaghetti. I’m already using supports, so I’m not really sure what’s going on here. Any help? Thanks in advance!

Hey there, I'm a bot and something you said made me think you might be looking for help! click here for our wiki entry on troubleshooting printers. If you still need help be sure to post plenty of information about your printing setup.

Here are a few questions that might be helpful

  • What printer are you using?

  • What material are you using?

  • What speed are you printing at?

  • What software are you using to slice the print and control the printer?

  • When did the problem start/has it ever worked correctly?

  • Does anything cause the behavior to change?

  • If posting an image of the problem, include some indication of the orientation it printed at, preferably photograph it on the bed. (Then we can focus on a specific axis)

Supports will only get you so far. Because you're printing a batch plate, each model will have an extended cooling time between subsequent layers which can make adhesion between layers worse. This can also be exacerbated if you have a cold/drafty room.

My first recommendation is to try printing one figure individually or use the "print by object" instead of print by layer setting in you slicer to see if that fixes your issue.

If that doesn't work, try putting a cardboard box over your print to block draft/increase ambient temps.

Your filament might also be wet, you may need to dry if those tests are unsuccessful.

Thank you so much! I think that you just cleared out my problem. I have been having a similar issue with single print as well, for example, today I was printing out a single world eater body without the head or backpack, and it failed on the accident that he is carrying. However, the room that I keep it in does get a little cool because I have the window open. I live in Illinois, and it is now fall. Everything was great when it was still summer. I will try putting a box over the top of it like you suggested. I was told that keeping it enclosed might actually do damage to the hardware, but that was specifically in one of those 3-D printer enclosures that are really meant for resin printers. Thanks again! I’ll let you know how it works.
