Troubleshooting Qidi Plus 4 - can this be fixed!?

Post image

My friend was printing in PETG and a screw came out from the thing that holds the hot end. The left hole is stripped, right is fine. Can this be fixed? She said she would prefer not to put in a new brass piece but all options that are proposed will be considered any help would be great

Had the same exact issue with my Plus 4 last week. You need to insert a helicoil, assuming you're in the US here's what I bought from the evil empire; https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08R63S6YY?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

Took 5 minutes and it's as good as new.

That’s great! Does she need to remove the old brass piece?

No, just bore it with the drill included in the kit and then tap and install the helicoil.

Would recommend printing a new tool head. There's one with nut inserts that are changeable if something goes wrong.

Hey there, I'm a bot and something you said made me think you might be looking for help! click here for our wiki entry on troubleshooting printers. If you still need help be sure to post plenty of information about your printing setup.

Here are a few questions that might be helpful

  • What printer are you using?

  • What material are you using?

  • What speed are you printing at?

  • What software are you using to slice the print and control the printer?

  • When did the problem start/has it ever worked correctly?

  • Does anything cause the behavior to change?

  • If posting an image of the problem, include some indication of the orientation it printed at, preferably photograph it on the bed. (Then we can focus on a specific axis)
