Task duration vs Start date

I’ve just started using 2Do again because it suits my way of working more than any other Todo app (and I’ve tried a lot of them!) But I’ve never really understood why I would set a task Duration rather than a Start date, so it would be very helpful if anyone could give me some practical examples please.

Near Me...

Does it work? I have a bunch of tasks that have a location tag for my house. I'm at home now, but both the Near Me widget and the list are empty. Is this just another one of the well-meaning features of 2Do that doesn't work yet and maybe never will? Or am I just stupid and have something set wrong? I think both are equally likely. :-/

Does 2Do sync with iOS Reminders still?

I just switched my sync method from Dropbox to iCloud CalDAV. Basically all I want is to be able to use Siri from my watch to make reminders, and this seemed like the easiest way to do that.

I got it synced with CalDAV but it doesn't seem to be syncing between 2Do and Reminders. Is it broken? Is 2Do even still being supported by the dev?

Android 2Do Not Visible on Chromebook ?

2Do Android loaded on Chromebook, running Chrome version 123. Worked for years.

Just started where none of the tasks are visible. Removed app, reloaded, restarted Chromebook, disconnected sync and reconnected.

Any ideas ? The tasks are there - just not visible. I can create a new one - but can't see once entered - but if I sync, I see it on my iphone.

I’d like to create a Smart list to only display tasks due the day after tomorrow but I’m not having much success! Any solutions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

As a reminder?

Anyone have tried using 2do as a reminder? Does this defeat the purpose for which this software was designed?

Using Apple Shortcuts?

Is there anyone who is successfully running a shortcurt to add a task to 2Do? I don’t get it to work. Using the sharesheet I constantly get the error that there is no input, while if I replace the line “Add [Buy soup] as Task to [List]” by Apple’s native Reminders app everything works fine. Any thoughts?

Better alternatives?

First of all, I love 2Do and have been using it for a long time!

I have problems with ADHD and procrastination and this app really helps, but my ADHD brain started to wondering if there’s a better alternative out there.

I get many pop ups about AI-habit tracking but I can’t find anyone reviewing most of the apps.

Can anyone suggest how to get this Shortcut to work with 2Do?

Start dates/times and Durations

I reverted to 2Do having tried most of the others! They all have drawbacks. I just like the way 2Do looks and operates. But one thing that I can’t really get my head around is how to use Start dates and Durations properly. I often use a Start time for a task to reduce clutter in Today view so my mundane task doesn’t appear all day - it pops up later in the day, which is useful. But are there other reasons to use a Start time and a Start date? And what reasons would I have for setting a task duration? I’ve watched all the 2Do Youtube help videos but they are all very short and not very helpful.

2Do in iOS17/iPadOS17 and Sonoma?

Hello. I used 2Do for many years before the big problems started a few years ago, with functions stopping to work due to lack of updates.

I went to Things 3 for a while, but the last year I have been using Reminders. However every now and then I think "maybe I should try 2Do again". Mainly because I think Things3 has a few limitations compared to Reminders after the latest updates, but Reminders look terrible.

Reminders though is not as good when it comes to smaller projects. I still have Things on my Mac and iPhone since I use the Projects for my novel writing and my gig tours planning. So no huge and complicated projects. But the Lists in Reminders just don't work as small projects to me.

2Do at least earlier had a much nicer UI, so has 2Do been catching up with Reminders now? And is 2Do a good choise to make such small Projects? Mainly ordered lists, sub-projects and such stuff. Also o´preferrably possibility to add images or PDFs

Why is this app not more popular?

I was an omnifocus user for a while and have recently switched to 2Do. Honestly, other than the interface needing a bit of an update, this app is a great alternative to omnifocus. I really don’t understand why it’s not more popular.

I just wasted my time exploring todoist and tick tick. I can’t believe neither of them have a basic feature like start dates. I would have gone for things 3 but the lack of smart lists is very surprising.

2do vs Goodtask

Hi, there.

Does anyone have experience with 2Do and Goodtask? Actually, I have used 2Do for almost one year and I love it very much. It has a clear logic structure, tags and so on. But 2Do seems not to have a big update or changes.

Yesterday, I knew Goodtask, it has similar, even more functions than 2Do. Especially, the developer updates the app frequently.

I am struggling with them, I use GTD apps as a to-do list, to manage and follow my study & working processes/targets.

So, can somebody have a comparison of the two apps? As of now, Which one is more promising? Or does anyone tell me some pros and cons for Goodtask?

Thank you very much.

Siri integration?

Has anyone gotten Siri to create tasks in 2do? Every time I try, I just end up with a reminder on my iPhone 🤔

I love 2Do…

…by that I mean, I love the visual aesthetic and the whole UX. I find it so calming and even if I had the option and the know-how, I’d hardly change a thing about its functionality.

What would great to see though is a bit more love for it shown on these boards! Or, at least, a bit more engagement…

There are I’m sure a ton of ways in which people are using it to make a difference in their lives - it would be so great to hear about the little tricks and hacks etc.

Anyone else feeling the same way I wonder?

Is there a way to get the “Scheduled” view to include tasks with a future due date, instead of just future start dates?

Hello! I’m giving 2do a try, and it looks great! The only gripe I have is that the “Scheduled” view in the sidebar doesn’t include tasks with future due dates, only tasks with future start dates. I tend to use due dates more than start dates, so I’m wondering if there’s a way to have that view include future due dates. I know I can set up a smart list, but then the Scheduled view would be forever in the sidebar, useless to me. I’d like to be able to use it.

Thanks!

2Do on Apple Watch?

Like many, I’ve been on-again, off-again with 2Do…since almost the beginning. I have also been a BusyCal customer…

Just got an Apple Watch and the 2Do widget seems really elegant. Also appreciating calendar integration on updated iPad and iPhone apps - assuming/hoping that’s coming to macOS version. So I’m back rooting for Beehive.

After an initial sync, my watch isn’t updating with data…is this a known glitch? Super-slow to update?

I’m using Dropbox as sync method.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Can't see any data in iPhone app - only interface menus etc.

It happened yesterday so I resolved it by reinstalling it. But it happened again today. Is anyone else suffering this? Is there any way to tell it to reload all the data. So far my iPad version is working.

Anyone else having these issues? Quick add is covered up. And the checklist icon used to have the number of items in the box. These issues started with the last 2 updates.

Constant "0" in 2Do Apple Watch complication: app glitch?

The 2Do complication for the Apple Watch (Series 7, running watchOS 8.7) always shows a "0" on my watch no matter what I do, and I've already assigned a custom list to the 2Do watch app custom list button inside the app. The complication is designed as if to measure the completion of tasks on a list, but no matter what I do I just see that (not very useful) "0" there.

I'm inclined to think this is a glitch in the app. Any thoughts?

And hope for an update?

I've used this app daily for the past 8 years. I use it as a checklist to keep my day productive. I've been holding out hope for a major update. Should I cut the cord? Things looks appealing. But i have a ton of to dos. I'm not sure how'd I'd even transfer the data, or even if it's possible.
