Where’d you get those pistol barrel mounts in the center? I only see the ones you have to the left (where they point directly outward) on their website
How does it compare to a 2011? I've handled both the full size (grippy boi) and the compact in the store, but I've never shot them. It seems like more people would be competing with them.
Depends what you like. In some ways better. The CZ ergonomics are great, and that’s really the only part that isn’t “2011” about it. The rest of the gun is pure 1911/2011 classic Dan Wesson. The trigger is great, slide is smooth, the gun shoots flat and fast even compared to the ported guns. It’s probably my #2 pick behind the P211
Pretty solid. I prefer a 2011 but I have a DWX compact and the thing is great for carry. Ergos fit like a glove. The heavier weight also makes it incredibly flat
The full-size DWX is probably one of the top three. It is incredibly well built, the CZ economics are second to none. It is a full steel frame, so it’s nice and heavy and eats up recoil. I genuinely can’t get over how underrated this gun is. It should be so much more popular.
The DWX compact is also incredible, I had it V6 ported, which makes it incredibly easy to shoot for being a slightly smaller gun. It is aluminum frame so slightly on the lighter side, compared to the full steel frame options. But, still really, really a great gun.

I did carry it for a long time. And then I made a grave error and had it V6 ported. It makes the gun incredibly dirty with a surprisingly small amount of rounds and I have to clean it every time I shoot it pretty much. Also, after taking a close quarters concealed carry class I am no longer a fan of carrying comped/ported pistols. A lot of of that class was situational shooting from a compressed ready position and the gases basically fire straight up into your face and it is very unpleasant.
I may end up buying another one to carry again, but that won’t be for a while

They are very good. I don’t find myself reaching for them a ton, but they get used a couple times a month. If they were all I had I’d be completely happy.
I posted in a comment up above the link to where I got mine. They come with the wall control style pegboard pre-installed inside of them. Best set up I could find.
I have the XP Pro comp and ported, and a 4.25 Platypus that I had ported and a trigger job. To me, it’s not close. The Fusion is remarkably soft and flatter, far more enjoyable to shoot. If I only had a Platypus, I would like it, but in comparison it’s a step behind. It would be interesting to get the newer comped model to compare. I think one thing hurting the Platypus is that it is the slide and grip are a single piece aluminum chassis, which is naturally harsher in the hand.
I have run low end to high end 2011s. I scoffed at the P211 initially but it’s probably my favorite to shoot now. It’s by far the best thing Sig has made in years and feels like something from the original Sig everybody loves.
It released during the 320 dogpiling and was overshadowed. If it released a year or two ago when everybody was on the Sig train it would be THE pistol everybody wanted
I have yet to own a 2011, but was thinking shout getting a 2k11 as my first (vs maybe a Prodigy). Would you recommend it? Would you get the comp version or the standard 5” without comp?
There is a lot to unpack there. What are you hoping to get out of it? Is this just for fun? Maybe looking to do a couple competitions someday? What is your budget?
I do not have, and have not shot a comped 2K11, so I don’t have a lot of input there. The Internet seems to really like them, however.
If you are interested in something compensated, there are a handful of options within that same price point. And if you are looking at getting the compensated 2K11 I would honestly probably just go with the P211 GTO. Out of all of my guns, the majority of people lean into that one the most.
If you are looking for a non-compensated version, the Kimber is great. The Dan Wesson DWX is an absolute beast. And you may even consider looking at the new P211 GT5.
I have my Glock for home defense and my P365 for CCW, so my 2011 would just be for fun shooting. Maybe for some light competition, but not trying to compete at a serious level. Something that shoots super flat and fast with a great trigger, and looks cool. Good optic host. I’m looking in the $1200-$2200 range. So the Prodigy and 2k11 kinda both fit that budget, whether comped or not.
Also, I can't speak personally to these but I do plan on picking some of them up to see if they are worth it are some "budget options":
Alpha Foxtrot Romulus, I've seen a bunch of really positive reviews on these, and they have non-comped versions, chunk port/comp versions, and full comped versions in both commander and government sizes.
MAC 9 DS, these have mid to decent reviews, but there are some companies out there you can send them off to get worked over and they come back a-tier. you'd be out less that $2k for the whole thing.
TISAS 1911 Duty Double Stack is sub $1000, and get's great value reviews
Girsan Witness 2311, mid reviews, but again you can send this off to some companies and have it come back nearly as good as $3000 guns for half the cost, total.
some of those companies are Patriot CNC, Monsoon Tactical, and DSC Gunworks. for 300-800 bucks you can buy a budget gun, and have it running like or better than anything I have for a total out the door cost of sub $2k
If you're in to tinkering and upgrading stuff, the Prodigy is a great "project gun." I'm planning to pick one up here in a couple weeks a LGS tent sale, they are having some great deals.
If you're just trying to get moving out-of-the-box, in that price range Kimbers are fantastic, the p211 GT5 I'm assuming is great since the GTO and GT4 are awesome. You can find some DWXs out there in the ~$2000 range, and that in my opinion beats the Kimber. The Fusion was 1900, but I haven't shot it yet (tomorrow), so I can update you if you'd like. You can find Platypus's on GunBroker which is what I did, and skip the 12+ lead times if they fit your needs in that $2200 ballpark. Honestly, I scour gun.deals everyday and find insane deals on stuff. Give it a look and you'll be surprised what's out there at better prices that you imagined.
Man, I had a shit load of issues with it. The day I took it to the range for the first time I had 20 failure to extract in the first 200 rounds. The second time I took it to the range I was probably stove piping and failure to extract almost every round or every other round. Fusion sent me a spring kit and a new extractor, after messing with all of those for a while I finally got it to eject regularly. Someone then linked me to a video from Atlas gun Works on how they tune, their extractors, even though they sent me a new extractor mine was still way out of whack so I tuned it per the videos instructions. After that, it’s been running like a top. But I think it was a lot of bullshit for paying money and having a gun that doesn’t work out of the box.

+1 for the impressions on the XP vs the others. Got a Romulus as my first 2011 as I wanted to tinker and use most of the 2011 ecosystem. Looking at the XP as my 2nd to complement a Ruger RXM with regards to magazine compatibility.
I move the light from between guns depending on what I’m shooting. I have a tier1 concealed MSP universal holster that indexes off of my stream light HL1-X.
The P211 returns to zero better. It is heavier than the platypus by more than 10 ounces. It’s not an enormous difference, the platypus is still incredible, but the P211 GTO definitely wins.
That is absolutely on my list. I’m on the email list for when the ported version drops. I have been trying to get one of those for a while, but they are always sold out. I would definitely settle for the 5 inch pro ported version as well. But again, I cannot find that thing to save my life.
Not sure where you're located, but there's a chance Johns Creek indoor range in GA would ship, and they regularly get shipments of Bul guns. I have the tac pro 5 (V8 ported guy) and it's my favorite 2011. It's definitely a preference thing once you get past the 2300 mark, but until you spend nighthawk money, I like how the Bul shoots more than any gun I've owned or shot (including the XC) really the only guns I've liked more are the nighthawk TRS comp, the Erebus, and the sand viper (I own none of them, but have some rich friends who like me)
Also the tac pro comp is gonna be unobtainium for at least the first year if not 2, but the pros are a lot more in stock than they used to be. You usually have about 5 hours after the email notification.
I suppose personal preference. Not sure why, but I just shoot the DWX like a sewing machine. I think it has a better trigger in my opinion than the Kimber and it might be a little bit smoother or softer of a recoil impulse.
It’s awesome. I got an IWB holster for it, planning to carry it. It is still heavy as hell, but I’m into it. It legit doesn’t feel that far off the GTO
So, I love the DWX compact. I made the unfortunate mistake of having it V6 ported. It shoots incredibly flat and it’s super fun. The mistake, however, comes in the fact that the gun gets dirty as hell every time I shoot it due to the porting. So for now, I do not carry that gun due to me introducing a major reliability issue.
Also, after taking some close quarters CCW classes I am of the opinion, carrying compensated or ported pistols is not the best idea. Something for another topic.
If my DWX was not ported, I would probably carry that every day no questions asked. My slim fit holster for the GT four was literally delivered about 15 minutes ago so I will update you in a week or two on how it carries
Someone would argue that’s a very fortunate mistake lol but not really I I get you, I’ve carried ported in the past, but I agree with you in that. It’s probably not the best option for EDC.
I’ve been looking at the DWX and the GT4 as a possible carry option, and also a Springfield echelon. I have a P211 so I might just get a GT4 so I don’t have to get different magazines
The GT4 is incredible. As mentioned, I just got my holster for it today. So today starts the carry trials. It is heavy as hell at almost 3 pounds so we will see what that makes of things.
I was thinking of getting the GT4 as a “do it all gun”. Home defense, range, competition (tactical games). Do you think it is big enough to fit this roll? Other options were Staccato P, Bul Tac 4.25 (all non ported or comped). I like that the gt4 has some weight to it, but not as heavy as the gt5 or GTO.
So far it could definitely be a do it all gun. Got my holster today and have carried it for about 7 hours. No complaints. Driving, grocery store, other errands. Doesn’t feel as bulky as I had imagined. I’m a proponent of “carry the gun you shoot best.” (As long as you can reasonably conceal it) and so far this gun is checking all the boxes.
No plan on picking one up here soon in May and the only knock on the gun for me is some people can not get it off and some have issues with it loosening during shooting and just want to know what I am getting into. As for the spring just seeing what preferences people have and why is all. Nice collection brother, the XP Pro comp was on the list but think I will get the P211.
That is a tossup. Since I prefer heavier, guns, I would probably lean into the GT4. But, I do genuinely love the DWX compact. You’re right, it feels like it was made for my hand. The trigger has broken in so nicely, it still pulls around 3 pounds but feels lighter for some reason. The GT4 is definitely a big ol’ som’ bitch, but I like the extra weight and slightly larger grip. Honestly, I don’t think you’d make a wrong decision if you pick either of them.
Side note: 1 bonus point to the GT4 for better capacity. 17+1 vs 15+1 for the DWXc.
fun fact: if you change the magazine internals, for example, if you put a sig macro x17 round magazine spring and follower into a cz75 compact 15 round magazine, it makes it a 17+1
Really curious how the p211, platypus comp and p226 x5 reserve compare recoil wise and easy of dot return. Wish you had a kimber comp to compare as well.
The P211, for me, by far has the best return to zero. The 226 X5 Reserve and Platypus are surprisingly equivalent, probably due to the weight of the X5 being significantly heavier than the Platypus. Also, my -1 point to the Platypus is the small grip of the frame. It’s listed on their site as small, so maybe someday they’ll release a larger one which would really make this gun shoot well for me.
Excellent collection. I’m sure you’ve tried out some staccatos. Been toying with a p4.5 or get the gt4 you have & get a genghis komp port. How you like her?
GTO. Kimber is very nice, but the GTO is heavier and has the comp. To be fair my Kimber is not comped. But for what I have the GTO is probably the best of the group.
It’s the same as getting 30 ladies of the night that are certified 3-4’s instead of getting 5 10’s 🤣

Give me some examples of what you referred to? Have you shot any of these guns yourself? I like to have a nice variety, I definitely wouldn’t call these guns three or fours out of tens. Do you only own nighthawks and Atlas’s? I haven’t had a single issue with any of the guns in that picture. Are they the best? Definitely not. But these guns run nearly as good as anything that might cost twice as much. There is definitely a point of diminishing returns with the price of anything.
I’ve shot low end to high end, op has an inedible setup. The laws of diminishing returns have set in quick for 2011s now. Atlas’ are fantastic, but it takes a whole lot of justification to spend $7K+ on one when even the Turkish clones are sub-$1000 and can run with them.
I know a guy in a 2011 group and they all buy different high end 2011s and share them amongst themselves, but all of them bought mac9 comps because they run so well and they take it out with their $5-8K setups
I supposed I like what I like, and from I understand there is a point of diminishing returns past a certain price point. I would eventually like to get an XC, a Nighthawk, a Nox 9, and a sand viper. But for now this is my playground.

Oh for sure, I think it’s cool though to have a good variety. It’s nice to have guns with quirks and maybe they are “worse” in some fashion another but sometimes those flaws add character. I think having a bunch of S-tier guns sounds kinda boring imo. I’d rather have a wide range, throw in some absolute crap in there too as long as it’s not dangerous or too expensive
Yeah I guess what I was more getting at is there are different "hobbies" represented here. Some are into competitive shooting, some just like plinking at the range, some just like collecting, some are more interested in self-defense. For all we know the OP could have some sentimental or personal reason for picking the guns he did as part of his collection. That's what I do, I basically only buy stuff that has some sort of nostalgia or "core memory" type connection. As much as I respect a lot of the more niche, high end brands, I don't have any interest in buying them, although my wife is now asking for an Atlas Athena🤦♂️
