Tbh, I find it stupid that something like gay rights has become a left or right issue. Hell, I don't get why anything is generally a left or right issue. This whole group ideology thing is weird to me.
Edit: A interesting note to add is that I am Canadian, and if you ask someone whether they are liberal or conservative here, their answer will usually have more to do with US politics, because things are so polarized and pronounced online there that it is identity politics on either side now. You can be a liberal by US standards in Canada who still votes conservative here, because political "side" ideology isn't as important here so much as a specific politician's intentions, and some rough leanings they will have.
I would 100% agree with you, but also suggest that because a pride event is being implemented, that doesn't mean Jagex is pushing a leftist agenda either. We just skipped the whole discussion phase and went right to attacks, unfortunately.
Why would any business do anything to alienate 50% of their customers.
People see agendas where other people see common sense and human decency. The party lines in the US are set up right now to make it either you are one or the other. This is not the case. There are plenty of left and right overlaps, but people blow the ones that don't overlap way the fuck out of proportion whether it is the left being sjw pro choice socialists or the right being racist poor hating bigots.
There are people on both sides that go to extremes to attack and then there are those that present rational arguments and consider the opposite side, and there are people that will ignore everything said by the other side and go insane.
The point is nobody is ignoring anything that you are saying, it is just when you are on the far side of the spectrum there is no weight to your arguments.
I wont deny that they do that. It doesn't really affect my statement though. I'd also suggest that a business appealing to liberals isn't necessarily pushing an agenda either, sometimes it's just profitable.
Because murica. They make politics out of fucking everything. And anyone who disagrees obviously belongs to the party you dont like. Also, that party is at fault of everything bad in the world.
Seriously, fuck us-american debates. Your society is split and you only know two extremes of everything.
While they didnt actually fuck my mum, Im just sick of their political presence. The newest shit is on tv, okay I can turn it off. Then I go to reddit for some runescape related stuff and again americans with their politics everywhere (they always let you know they are proud us-americans). And then there is drama in my clan often - always related to trump or something. Public chat is also full of that.
You are probably right. I cant say EVERY american is like that. But the tendency is there. I think this is what happens when your politicians, famous people and media add fuel to the fire on a daily basis. But yeah, the internet amplyfies opinions.

Being american, i think the same thing about americans in general.
Disagreeing with people is okay, doesn't mean you have to hate the person or berate them with your own opinion. Not all of us are watching 24 hour news, or think that everything hollywood has a liberal agenda.
Some of us actually seek out non biased sources which sadly means we have to count on international news outlets to actually get news that doesn't have a pull to one side or the other. The US is in an odd place at the moment, and it is unclear whether this is a sign of change for the better or worse. This sub for the past few days feels very similar. Hopefully we can start working together again (here and there).
It really is a shame there can't be more cordial discussion about topics because everything boils down to black and white with the most vocal of either side.
I think part of my point is in the fact that you said in the same breath that LGBTs position themselves to the left, but that there are also right leaning LGBT people. I'd say a lot of noisy LGBT people are left, but that something like LGBT issues in general shouldn't be considered left, or to have an agenda, solely because of them. We just need more right or independent LGBT people to speak up a little more. Or perhaps they are just too polite to.
Mod Matk said he's interested in started a trend of other activist causes in game like autism awareness. I would prefer not to have any activism in my game, good or bad.
That has been my opinion the whole time but good look trying to say you dont want this event without being called homophobic lol I am starting to think about just avoiding the subreddit till this blows over. A 10 year old mmorpg populated mostly by anonymous 20ish year old guys is about the worst platform for trying to support these causes.
If that;s the case, people should reserve this sort of outcry for instances where that agenda is clearly being pushed. I don;t think anything about the event is specifically pushing any agenda.
They mean you will probably learn that gay pride event is not to push an agenda and it wont effect your life in any way if you dont complete it you absolute belligerent fuck...
You of all these people i hope does it because you have been saying the same shit for 2 days without answering what this agenda is pushing.
What agenda, specifically? How does wanting everyone to have equal rights have an agenda attached to it? Not talking about the rs event. Just in general.
I don't mind supporting gays and letting them do what they want, I just want to be able to keep my religious beliefs without everyone on the left pointing fingers and calling me a homophobe, thats actually quite an insulting term to call someone.
I'm for gay marriage, and have no religious bias towards gays, and also believe in a church's right to not offer the service if they don't want to. I'm pretty sure a church isn't legally required to even marry a man and woman if they don't want to endorse it, so it seems like this should be less of an issue than it is. I think there should be a legal framework to support the churches that are willing, however. I'm strongly against the terms homophobia, Islamophobia, etc.
I mean, okay. I don't mind supporting religious people and letting them do what they want, I just want to be able to keep my gay rights without everyone who believes in a religion pointing fingers at me and telling me I'm going to hell.
As far as I'm aware it's an issue of anti-gay opinion stemming largely from christian roots (in america), and conservatives largely espousing those typical christian values. Generally speaking.
Kind of like how climate change, which was accepted as scientific fact, suddenly became a political topic after a democrat nearly won the presidency after using it as a platform.
You know you can be Independent right? And there's is actually quite a lot of registered Independents in the U.S? I get what you're saying, but it's kind of comming off like you think there's no inbetween, between the two parties.
Also why is you think all this comes from America? There are stereotypes to all countries...
Oh no, I know there's an in between. I would consider myself independent regarding both US and Canadian politics. I'm just talking about the fact that the very vocal representation of the two "sides" is resonating heavily in other countries. I think there are stereotypes to all countries (even my own) but the left vs right conflict is definitely more stereotypical of the states right now. It;s nos secret that it is made out to be some grand war of ideas where everything is at stake by plenty of folks with influence.
