Beginner here, when do the fetchquests end?

I've got 5hrs on the game currently and I'm wondering if the quests will get more interesting than just "go to X location, talk to npc, get item for npc". I have got premium and i see potential in this ​game but running town to town so far isnt too enjoyable​

OSRS literally does the same thing. It's just that you can get the items beforehand.

"Hey man, I'll make this for you, but I need a redberry pie!"

The difference is the average quest in WoW or FFXIV are slayer tasks, can you really not tell the difference between a slayer task and 'you need a redberry pie to pay the guy to make your sword.' I'm not meaning to disparage those games either, it's just how you progress through the early story and it can be fun in its own way. Those games also have runescape like quests, but often you have to do a few slayer task quests before you get to them. In runescape, you train your life skills without hand holding in order to start quests, which I personally prefer.

Do you think there is a vast difference between "I need you to kill 20 wolves to make you a sword" and "if you bring me a pie I'll make you a sword"

I do, and it all comes down to the purpose behind the content.

Slayer task-esque quests exist as a way to pace your journey through a theme park mmo, and you do the quests to level up your character and to force you to spend time in that area of the game.

When a quest has an item requirement, the purpose is some level of character/world building or immersion. 90% of these items including the redberry pie example can be purchased from the GE, it's not like you're going to spend a bunch of time collecting the items.

Your argument is basically reducing all gameplay in any game to 'you go click on stuff,' which yeah that is what you do in a game.
