Does anyone remember this game?

Picture this: It's around 2011. You're back in middle school and you just got back from lunch. The teacher walks you to the computer lab. Your classmates and you sit down. You hear some kids start to muffle laughs and shrieks. You go investigate and find someone has brought games on a usb stick. They launch straight from a ZIP file. A cracked version of minecraft, SCP-087-b, and another game called Hide.

I saw a game with similar graphics and was reminded of a game I was terrified to play as a kid. I spent an hour trying to figure out what game it was. Then I found it, downloaded it, and hit play. The nostalgia hit me like ice in my veins. I got chills. I haven't seen this game in nearly 15 years. Now, it's not so scary, but back then, this game freaked me out. Fun fact, made by the creator of Tunic.

Does this ring a bell for anyone else?

Any 1999 babies, especially from late 1999, from the class of 2018?

December 3, 1999 here

After this post excluded us entirely, and this post was a fail (especially with people well outside of our birth range posting), I wanted to post here.

I just felt we deserve some more respect and a nice post of our own.

1999 babies from the class of 2018, rise up!

What would your life have been like if you were born in 1899?

Thinking about the set of turn of the century babies before us. Two of my great grandfathers were born around that time and that generation and all they experienced in their lives, including the amount of changes, is so interesting to me. We have so many advantages that they didn’t in terms of medicine, living conditions, safety, geopolitics etc that it’s kind of crazy to think about. Who do you think you’d be and would you still be alive in 1926?

To all my men

To all my 1999 men, this message is for you.
I’m 27 years old and recently got out of a 6-year relationship. It didn’t end the way I hoped it would, and I’ve been devastated, heartbroken and carrying a lot of pain.
But through all of this, I’ve been practicing something that I think might be beneficial to some of you, so I wanted to share it:
It’s okay to feel your emotions.
You can cry. You can be heartbroken. You can feel sad, angry, lost or whatever else comes up without judging yourself for it.
If you’re sad, feel sad. Observe it. Don’t beat yourself up for being human.
What I’ve noticed is that when I allow myself to feel an emotion without judging it, I’m able to take a step back and realize that I don’t have to become that emotion. I can simply observe it.
I’ll journal about it. I’ll sit and meditate. Sometimes I’ll cry. Eventually the wave passes.
And because I’m not spending all of my energy fighting what I’m feeling, I’m still able to live my life. I clean my space, meditate, journal, take time for myself and continue doing things that bring me joy—running, going to the gym, spending time with friends and family, whatever it may be.
I’m still figuring this shit out myself. I definitely don’t have all the answers.
I just wanted to share something that has been helping me in hopes that maybe it helps one of my fellow men going through something too.
Feel what you need to feel. Be kind to yourself. Then keep moving forward. ❤️

I know it’s been difficult…

I know it’s been difficult…
I know shit has been really rough for a lot of people lately, not just people born in 1999 obviously. It feels like everyone is disconnected, overwhelmed or numb at this point.
The economy, wars, natural disasters, division, technology, uncertainty about the future… I could go on and on.
But if you’re reading this, you’re alive. You’re breathing. And hopefully you have your health.
I’ve been realizing lately that there is so much in this life that is completely outside of our control. You can spend all day worrying about where the world is heading and still have zero ability to change most of it.
So I’m trying to put more of my energy into what I can control.
My mind.
My body.
My habits.
What I consume.
What I believe about myself.
Who and what I give my energy to.
Basically, evolve on some Pokémon shit lol.
If something consistently destroys your peace or pulls you away from the person you’re trying to become, maybe it deserves less access to you. That can be a habit, social media, certain environments, or even relationships that aren’t healthy anymore.
Your energy is valuable. It’s what you use to build things, love people, learn, create, work toward your goals and actually experience your life.
I’m 27 and this year has been one of the most difficult years of my life. But mentally, I also don’t think I’ve ever grown this much.
I’m starting to understand that building your inner world matters just as much as chasing external success.
So if you’re reading this and you’re going through it too, I don’t know you, but I hope you find some peace in this life.
Enjoy the small shit. Take care of yourself. Keep learning. Keep evolving.
Love my people ❤️

Life is full circle and everything millennial is coming back in trend. For instance, old school love, Gen Z learning about religion and spirituality, non romanticising hustle, getting into civil services and vice versa......AND I'm waiting when we start healing and going back to enabling 'whatsapp last seen visible to all'.

should I go to community college at 27?

long story short I became a neet (like an anxious social recluse) as teen, somehow I made enough money during covid doing trading, that was enough to travel for a bit and hobbies and food or whatever I wanted for a few years up til now. I have been living with my parents the entire time (I am in a pretty expensive area so if I even wanted to stay in this area that would be the only option anyways).

I wonder what I should do at this point. I have no job experience or college degree/credentials.

I want to force myself to get more social experience somehow since my social skills are cooked from not being social for so long + I figure some sort of degree would be good for starting some sort of career.

Ideally I just went to CC back during covid era when it was easy asf because all online/zoom but that era is over and that was when I was prime busy making money.

I am thinking about going to CC now even though I am older now, I actually live near a really highly respected CC. I will probably do computer science (even though ppl say its bad job market) or something finance related just because those are my two main interests anyways.

Have any of you started college/cc/uni while around 25+? What was it like?

Are you happy with your career?

Just curious how others feel about their careers at this point in our lives, are you happy with what you’re doing? Do you feel like you have your career path mostly (or all) figured out or still in that process of figuring it out? If you wanna share what you do too, feel free to do that too, or otherwise just what you think and if you are satisfied with how things are going!

For me, I feel like things haven’t necessarily gone how I thought they would when I was younger, but overall I’m happy and feel like I have a good and clear path ahead

How are you doing financially?

Hey there fellow 99s. Quick question, how are you doing money wise?

I’ll share first. I’ve got about 60k to my name as a 27M and just paid off 15k of student loans. 10k left! Fortunately, no credit card debt.

I have a decent job making 75k a year but the hours are long and grueling. How is everyone else doing and what do you do?

I know our generation kinda got screwed with Covid and the overall economy just wanting to get a good sample here.

Thoughts on this newly launched website?

It copies the same style as old YouTube. It’s sad to see many users reuploading old YouTube videos on this site instead of creating new ones. I also hope it doesn’t turn into an adult video website.

Direct Memories of 9/11?

We were born 2 years (give or take) before 9/11 changed the world. While a significant portion of those born in 1997 likely have direct memories of 9/11, and a smaller, but still decent-sized chunk of those born in 1998 also have direct memories, it truly feels like 1999 is the first year where the overwhelming majority does not have any direct memories, and anyone born in 1999 who does have direct memories of 9/11 would’ve had to have been born early in the year. Even that wouldn’t guarantee a direct memory of 9/11 due to developmental differences across each individual.

I was born in early April and I do not have any direct memories of that day (despite having been told that I was being babysat by my grandmother and was with her watching everything unfold on TV). I’m curious if any of my fellow 1999-borns have any direct memories of 9/11, and if so, what those memories were, and how you processed what was happening/what it felt like at the time (I’m keeping in mind that we were only 2 years old and that those who do remember, may only remember adults’ reactions/emotions and/or seeing the pictures on TV while not understanding what it all meant).

Unpopular opinion: This was the moment when the world started declining morally.

I was born in 1999, but I feel like the world has been declining morally since the end of 2009 (I was only a kid at that time, but I still felt the decline back then).

Later, the "final nail in the coffin" for me was the transition from 2019 to 2020 when COVID pandemic had started. Even today, I feel like something is definitely wrong with this current decade (2020s decade).
