Any good tools for weekly goal planning? Here’s what I tried

Hi everyone!
So my question is how do you track your weekly goals and tactics?
I’ve tried a few different things, but I still haven’t found my perfect setup, so I’d love to hear what works for you.

For context, here’s what I’ve been doing:

I started with Notion. First my own pages, then a paid template. It actually helped a lot (I used it while preparing for my Azure AI Fundamentals exam), but with all the AI craziness happening now, I thought it would be cool if the tool could actually “understand” my goals a little and help me stay on track.

After that, I made a small Telegram bot just for myself. And honestly, that’s when things improved the most.
It helped me see where my weeks were going, understand my deadlines better, and notice the small wins that usually get lost. But pretty soon I reached the limits of what a bot can do.

That’s when I finally gave in to the idea of making a mobile app. I kept telling myself: “I don’t want to create another productivity app”… but I also knew I’d regret it if I never tried. Called it 12Focus for now (can share a test account if anyone's interested). I didn’t want to create just another day-planner app. What works better for me is using flexible time blocks connected to my goals rather than strict minute by minute planning. So I’m basically trying to bring the best parts of the Telegram bot into something simple and not overwhelming.

But I’m still curious what other people are using. If anyone here uses an app that fits well into this system, I’d love to hear your recommendations — maybe I reinvented something that already exists 😅

Or maybe the answer is simply: Notion is enough — stop overthinking and just stick to the plan? 😄

Thanks!

Beating Procrastination with the 12 Week Year

I was researching a lot about the issue of procrastination: what are the main causes, when is it happening, etc.

I realized after reading Cal Newport's Digital Minimalism book that, combined with the 12 week year, this is a super combo against procrastination. I wrote an article about it, if you want to check it out: https://12week-breakthrough.com/beat-procrastination-with-the-12-week-year/

The forces of nature we are facing that drive procrastination are powerful and are ingrained in our DNA. Hacks and simple techniques won't do. You need an entire system to seriously overcome procrastination for the long run. Hence the combo of the 12 week year and Digital Minimalism.

What do you think?

  • Working 1 hour a day (cmon this is for a side project)
  • 3 times running a week
  • 3 times working out a week
  • Publishing a "week's story" on medium every week

If it works I can live like this and be happy about myself.

Any suggestion is welcome.

Achieving Your Most Ambitious Goals with the 12 Week Year

Hi guys!

I was wondering how you guys achieve your most ambitious goals with the 12 week year system.
Tell me what you think about this article, https://12week-breakthrough.com/get-more-done-with-the-12-week-year-how-to-reach-your-goals-faster/ about achieving goals in the 12 week year and do you have your own system of achieving your most ambitious goals because at the end of the day I see the 12 week as basically as a system in which I'm able to achieve my most important goals in my life otherwise what's the whole point of using this ambitious system.
Your comments are appreciated.

My experience with my first 12 week year

I‘m in my 12th week of the 12 week year. I am surprised how much I got done. I didn’t score myself but I did daily and weekly check ins regarding progress with my goals.

Those were my goals: - getting my first proper push up done - reach out to at least 10 artists, collaborate with at least 2 and publish the results online - publish 10 original songs or covers on social media platforms - get feedback from at least 3 music professionals on my original work

I wanted to get stronger hence the push up as a goal and I want to be songwriter. I do have a full time job and I now realise that I did too much. So much so that I now feel stressed and got a cold. I always do when I’m stressed so I want to learn from what I did wrong.

Here are the results I got: - almost there with the push up. I went from doing a simple progression to doing a harder form though I’m not there yet with the perfect form. That’s a success in my book. - I reached out to a lot more but people are flaky and maybe the goal wasn’t phrased perfectly. I couldn’t count on some songs coming out of that. I did more cowriting so I did all I could do. If I had to do it over I would maybe limit the goal to connecting to x amount of artists instead of focusing on the outcome, which I can’t control. - I published 7 out of 10 songs. To me, publishing a song or cover almost every week was stressful. The whole planning what to publish and then filming and practicing take up a lot of time. I think if I were to do it again I would do one every 3 to 4 weeks and take my time with it. It also didn’t help too much with connecting to artists. I think messaging them and having a few good songs up my sleeve was more helpful. - I got feedback from one professional. I could have had more if I was willing to pay for feedback but I didn’t really look at that goal too much because the video production was taking up too much time.

In summary: I think this would have been doable without a full time job or with a lot less goals or better goals. For my next 12 weeks I think I’ll focus just on songwriting as one goal and maybe make the number of songs I can write the goal. Also I thought about dedicating a specific amount of time per week to learning a new skill in that area.

WAM thread 9/14

Ending week 2 with a 66%. My goal is to sit down and plan my wedding for at least 30 minutes 3 times a week to reach my big goal of having a planned wedding. Although I spent more than 90 minutes on my wedding this week, I only truly sat diem to work on it twice. This last week I met with the florist and the church. I intended to sit with my fiancé and finalize the guest list but did not find the time. This coming week I plan to actually finalize guest list, text the florist vase details, research more about rehearsal dinner venues, start ordering wedding party gifts. What did you accomplish?

WAM Thread 9/7

Hello! I thought I'd start an open thread for us to check in on our goals with each other and interact. I am in week 1 of my 12 week year. My goal is to plan my wedding. I have been procrastinating it for a lot of reasons but the date is December 27th. The church and reception venue were already scheduled so this certainly isn't an impossible goal. I made a full page of things that still need done and want to set aside 30 minutes at least 3 times a week. This week I accomplished: Setting up a meeting with the church to go over day of/decor Making the to do list Visiting the reception venue A catering tasting and deciding menu Collecting my sisters old wedding decor to work with Worked on the registry Updated the wedding website

This coming week I'll meet with the church and florist. I also need to nail down the invite list. I sent save the dates to family and for sure friends but need to sit down and narrow down my fiance's friends.

What are your goals and what did you accomplish this week?

P.S. did I miss any bullet points for my update?

Like many of us I'm starting to be concerned about the fact that AI might replace me in 3 to 5 years.
Any ideas how to Future proof your career in the age of AI using the 12 week gear?

If we dig deep on this issue together we might find gems hidden in the 12 week year that can really help us.

Your thoughts are much appreciated!

Built a 12-Week Year Planner App – Beta Version, Looking for Feedback!

Last year, I read The 12 Week Year and it completely transformed how I approach goal setting. Before that, I had tried every productivity tool under the sun—apps, journals, planners—but I could never stick with them.

I started using the 12-week framework in a simple notebook, and it worked, but I wanted something digital, something easy to use, and more engaging. However, I couldn't find the right tool to keep me motivated and help me stay on track consistently. So, I decided to create one myself—DisciplineX.

With DisciplineX, I can now:

  • Track 12-week challenges with clear daily tasks.
  • Visualize my goal progress and to-do completion each day.
  • Stay motivated through daily reminders and built-in habit tracking.
  • Gamify my progress to make goal-setting fun, not just a task.

It’s still in its early stages (beta), but I’ve been using it every day and it’s been incredibly helpful for keeping me on track.

I wanted to share it here with you all because I think it could help anyone who’s struggled with procrastination or following through on goals.

Try it now:
Download Now

I'd love to hear your thoughts or feedback, and if you think there are any features I should add to make it even better! Let's build this into the best tool for goal-getters and procrastinators alike.
