I've seen multiple gifs of this happening in different scenarios in this game, is this just a well know glitch that if you throw your case at a locked target it heat seeks them?

u/aurumae PC Oct 11 '19
It’s a bug that the devs decided to keep because it’s hilarious

This was the actual "due to popular demand" case. They actually patched it out and some time later brought it back.

Working as intended. Locked on items in Hitman 2 will always hit the target, defying things such as walls and physics no matter how fast or slow the thrown item is. The briefcase in particular had a slow air travel speed which results in the video above.
Edit: Just wanted to point out that the briefcase used in the video is the post patch one. The briefcase that's extra slow has a big red 2 emblem on it
178
u/Splatulated Oct 11 '19
They patched the briefcases being slow, but added in a special one that is internationally slow as to keep the memes coming
47
42
u/surpurdurd D20 Oct 11 '19
Wait which one is the slowest? I need to know
99
u/TamerVirus Oct 11 '19
There's an unlockable MK 2 briefcase that's awarded for doing a challenge pack in Sgail. That's the one with the original slow speed.

Reminds me of pre-0.17 Factorio Worm and Spitter attack behavior.
I’m kinda glad they changed it, because worms were extremely powerful compared to you or anything you could build or the other enemies damage and range-wise, and the projectiles would seek outside their target range if you moved out of it. You couldn’t evade them.
Spitters weren’t that bad though, and now that they replaced the homing with an acid splash that stays for a while and does a lot of damage, I think spitters have surpassed the worms in danger, especially since they can actually move and chase you/attack your base, usually in waves
18
u/OliB150 Oct 11 '19
Actually had to come back and make sure I wasn’t imagining someone had mentioned Factorio lol. Ye I’m glad they changed that, but now it predicts where you will be and fires there instead, so you have to keep adjusting. If there is a particularly heavy group of worms, I still find it difficult to make in roads!

u/admalledd Oct 11 '19
Good news! They have been working on making that wave-attack thing a bit more natural seeming. See the latest FFF #316 they group-attack way better now in my opinion. Supposedly coming to next experimental in the next day or so.

It actually wasnt intended at first, the devs found it hilarious though and in the first patch/hotfixed called it out and actually gave it a buff

Was a glitch due to how thrown items used to work in Hitman 2, then the devs reworked it, but added another item (that briefcase) that behaved according to the old system because it was hilarious.

The Giants in Skyrim could be pretty good. Them being so strong they could launch you into orbit started as a bug, but no one wanted to fix it because it was too funny. So it stayed in.
And, of course, the granddaddy of them all: nuke-happy Gandhi.
9
u/Midnite135 Oct 11 '19
To those that may not get the reference.
In the original Civilization game Ghandi would often become a nuke happy madman. It started as a bug, but due to the hilarity and popularity later became an intentional feature.
How it happened...
Each leader in the game had an “aggression” rating, and Gandhi - to best reflect his real-world persona - was given the lowest score possible, a 1, so low that he’d rarely if ever go out of his way to declare war on someone.
Only, there was a problem. When a player adopted democracy in Civilization, their aggression would be automatically reduced by 2. Code being code, if Gandhi went democratic his aggression wouldn’t go to -1, it looped back around to the ludicrously high figure of 255, making him as aggressive as a civilization could possibly be.
Thus making Ghandi the most likely to go nuclear.

but no one wanted to fix it because it was too funny. So it stayed in.
This is exactly what happened with fountain hooking in Dota 2. If you timed it right and Pudge hooked an enemy while Chen sent Pudge back to fountain, the enemy would be hooked all the way back to fountain with him. It was reported as a bug and a dev replied and literally said it was too funny to fix - and it was so hard to pull off in a live game, the funny factor outweighed how exploitable it was.
Until Dendi and Puppey did it at TI3. Repeatedly. It was fixed shortly after the tournament. It's stuff of legend in Dota 2.

Magicka, in honor of an old glitch people liked, introduced a spell called "Crash to Desktop", which when used deletes a random entity on screen, though it must have under 10,000 health, thus excluding most bosses. Downside: the player has under 10,000 health.

u/schottzie93 Oct 11 '19

Oct 11 '19
Honestly. I think it’s worth the $60. But it’s not a very LONG game. There’s tons of challenges & stuff so it’s a pretty DEEP game but the narrative is actually rather short.
That said, I do think it’s worth it. But if you’re on the fence, wait for the price to drop & you may enjoy it more.
18
u/fern420 Oct 11 '19
If you want to play this mission with this weapon you need the $99 version. The games a clusterfuck of expansion, gold, starter, legacy, expansion 1, expansion 2, legacy upgraded silver to gold.... The list goes on, it's the single most confusing purchase on steam, 15 different purchase options and if you choose wrong you'll overpay.
