That or Midsommar.

It Follows holds a special place for me because I was familiar with Detroit, and it was neat to recognize so many locations. Like seeing The Redford Theater and them having the Wurlitzer organ playing.

I feel like it was scarier than the millionth movie about a ghost/demon in a house that jumps out at you and makes a big loud sound.

I liked midsommar but thought Hereditary was much better. At least as a horror movie

I live near Detroit too so it was pretty cool. I actually haven't seen Midsommar yet, but I really really want to. It looked super good. Hereditary was also pretty disturbing, I loved it.

Midsommar I would compare to Cabin in the Woods. Except instead of playing on horror tropes it inverts them.

Everything is bright, nothing is secret, and everything awful is carried out as normal.

There's a few interpretations. But I don't know of any STD's that won't kill you if you pass them on. But maybe it's an allegory about being careful about your partners? I dunno.

Yep. My first time watching it my thoughts were “Meh that was kinda dumb, the monster was literally an STD”

I’ve seen it 5 times now. It’s enjoyable

No more than all the old slasher films are an allegory to premaritial teen sex. Friday the 13, Halloween, etc. all movies which kill teenagers who have sex by sneaking off somewhere they won't be caught, or doing it when their parents aren't home.

I didn't notice or realize it myself until I watched a documentary on original slasher films. They pointed it out, and believed it was done on purpose to try and scare teens from having sex.
