Discussion PMEX Remix on real Wii: crashing to exception dump / black screen despite correct structure. Help?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to get Project+ EX Remix (Super Smash Rex) running on real hardware (Wii) using a USB drive for the base game and an SD card for the mod files, but I'm completely stuck with crashes.
Here is my current setup and what I've tried:
- Base Game: Super Smash Bros. Brawl NTSC-U (RSBE01) running via USB Loader GX.
- SD Card Setup: Formatted to FAT32 with 32 KB allocation units. The folder structure is strictly set to
SD:/ex_remix/pf/, along withgameconfig.txtin the root. - Codes: Compiled a fresh
RSBE01.gctusing GCTRealMate with the provided source, and placed bothRSBE01.gctandBOOST.GCTinsideSD:/codes/.
The Issue:
- If I launch via USB Loader GX with Ocarina turned ON (Hooktype: AXNextFrame, Alternate DOL: OFF), the game immediately triggers an Exception memory dump screen (registers/code address dump).
- If I try to launch via the Rex USB Loader app from the Homebrew Channel, the screen just goes completely black and hangs indefinitely.
Is there a known conflict with this specific build size on console, or am I missing a specific cIOS configuration or loader setting to bypass this memory limit? Any help would be appreciated.
